Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

The craziest thing about Dead Man's Switch

If it activated on every hook with a 45 second cooldown, it probably still would struggle against the meta anti-generator perks.

It also doesn't stop regression and makes it so you can't use POP. It's literally like repressed alliance that survivors have except you do the work for them at the cost of your own perk slot.

I mean if you are there anyways they have to leave of course, except now their generator is protected from pop, ruin, surge, everything.....

Everyone seems to ignore though that it requires no wasting time kicking generators, and if more than one survivor was chased off of a gen, the killer can maintain a chase with one survivor secure in the knowledge other survivors cannot just immediately jump back on the gen.

It also stops a killer stressing about a potential DS, because any Obsession switching is great for Dead Man’s Switch.

To be 100% clear, I’m not saying DMS is better than other slow down perks!!! I’m simply saying it’s viable with distinct advantages that other slow down perks don’t have. It can actually be an incredibly effective build to run DMS, Nemesis, and Furtive Chase. Sure that’s 3 perks to make DMS more effective at slow down, but many killers run that many perks for slow down or synergy anyway.

It stops Ruin, it stops gens from being worked on only when the survivors allow it, it potentially might never trigger, It might only trigger 3 times max... It's a total laugh. It genuinely shouldn't be used.

It's a uh... weird perk. I tried it out on Bubba and it really felt like it was helping the survivors, giving them Repressed Alliance or something without the survivors being able to see its aura. HOWEVER, Surge might be a really good perk to go along with it. I don't know if the Entity prevents Surge from affecting the blocked generator(s) though.

Maybe if I decide to P3 Freddy I can try doing a DMS and Surge build. I'm gonna test it out with Bubba (if I even have Surge on him) to see if it works sometime.

That's three perks for just a decent gen slowdown. Not even great, but decent. Pop alone can probably beat this combo, and even better if paired with tracking perk.

If I am correct, Gen Blockers like Thrilling Tremors and Dead Man's Switch don't block Surge's initial 8% regression.

Pop doesn’t stop Survivors from jumping straight back on the gen after it’s kicked.

THAT’S what makes DMS unique. It doesn’t regress any progress, that’s not its intention. It circumvents that one nuisance killers have always had a headache from when chasing a survivor off of a gen: somebody else jumping straight back on the second the killers back is turned.

No but it takes 25% of it away. It's clear what it's intention is but we know what the purpose of monstrous shrine is doesn't make it a good perk.

All the perquisites and short active time frame keep it far from useful.

Then, even when it can be utilized, often it's more of a hinderance especially because again, it means you have to not be using certain other perks really all that much because it doesn't work with them very well.

Lastly, if they can't jump back on that gen, sure okay....it's not regressing it's still at 80% or such and the survivors runs off and you chase them, and you are chasing them for like 10 - 20 seconds well you are right no one could jump back on the gen but around that time the effect is likely wearing off and they can, it bought you FAR FAR less time than the meta perks do, and also they can easily work on a different gen and make progress on that while preserving progress on the one they were working on.

You might be able to make it work with pop, if all the planets align on a full moon tuesday in terms of timing but realistically it's so incredibly unreliable.

yes, surge can, you are right. Though I mean you then have to accept that you now have DMS and surge for half your build haha.
