Chapter 19 Delayed?
Comments

So completely disappointing
6 -
They used to do that, and people complained when those releases were delayed. When they weren't delayed, people complained about the quality of the releases. Now, without the devs saying anything, people still hype themselves up and blame the devs because their completely self-made expectations aren't met.
There's no winning this. I don't blame the devs for shutting down most communication when people complain every single time. They might as well save themselves the trouble and do nothing, it's easier on the nerves.

Yeah i know that. But in my oppinion, werent they great on informing us back in the day either. In my oppinion information can not be a bad thing, if the individual has a problem with it, its his/her own fault. Its better to do the right thing and piss people off instead of doing the wrong thing and piss people off. You will always make people mad, no matter what you do thats just how it is. It just depends on the number of people and how mad you make them.

I'm not sure if this is a healthy mindset though.
Fact is that you will ALWAYS see people complaining about everything, however, should they really punish the part of the community that is reasonable by getting almost completely silent?
I don't think so.
The only thing it does is causing problems (e.g Halloween Event,Twins release, colorblind mode fiasco etc.)

Yes, a game that needed another year of polish, was released early for big 2020 Christmas sales. Look what happened.
My point stands: Delay the release until it is ready.

I think this is good news.

"Now, without the devs saying anything, people still hype themselves up and blame the devs because their completely self-made expectations aren't met."
Those expectations aren't completely self-made. They've established a long time ago a clear communitcated all six weeks for a major patch development schedule, back when Clown came out and sticked to it quite well most of the time. Rarely delays or changes. Only last year was it when they said they will take more time between PTB and actual releases. Then it changed to three weeks after PTB release.
And by the way. I can rarely remember an actually delay in the past. Even back then it was mostly "expectations" and speculations.
And now we have the last MidChapter taking clearly longer than usual and the upcoming chapter, that apparently will release either next week or later. Making the gap between Chapter 18 and 19 almost four months long. Quite an unusal long time. That's defintively worthy to talk about.
8 -
Better than having another buggy mess like chapter 18 (hopefully).
2 -
I don't fault people for thinking the chapter release was this week.
For starters, the devs at one point had a blog about how they were increasing the duration between ptb and release from 2 weeks to 3 weeks. And until recently with the Twins, the devs have kept that 3 week release window.
Last week they also posted two trailer videos. One for the survivor and one for the killer. They also made the tweet about changes they were making from the ptb to live.
9 -
If the devs would actually communicate with us then we wouldn't have this problem to begin with.
7 -
It doesn't matter if people complains about open communication setting the release dates and the delays as they should. It was the right thing to do regardless of how everyone felt, now they're leaving everyone in the dark with their releases and communication and that is absolutely the wrong thing to do, which should be an issue even if nobody complained about it.

If it was intended to release tomorrow and they had to delay it one week because reasons I prefer it to be that way, if they can use that extra week to fix more bugs they can delay the chapter all they want.
Never another A Binding of Kin.

Its not really complaning considering it confusion
Because not everyone knows of the fog whispers and there is never any official answer so you have to take it with a grain of salt
1 -
The devs need to make a forum post or tweet about the DLC chapter which is/was on schedule for tomorrow based on logic.
I know they never announced a date, but it's been a month since PTB.
Come on.
11 -
Day before what? There was no official statement the chapter would be released tomorrow.
0 -
The extra time is most likely due to console certification. Don't expect major changes from what we saw during the PTB.
9 -
Lame... and there's not even any new maps or map reworks in this chapter.
Feels like it's taking ages to just get bare bones content.
8 -
If they aren't fixed, they can't go live? Of course they can! So many bugs reported last chapter and they still went live. Don't assume it won't happen again.
2 -
As bummed as I am about the delay, I would've absolutely felt insulted as a consumer if there was any game breaking bugs. So if the Chapter launches later but smoothly, patience is a small price to pay.
1 -
Yes, this is most likely the reason. So nobody should expect any changes, other than those they already mentioned a week ago.
9 -
If theirs any truth to this totally disappointed it's the curtain call chapter all over again. If im not mistaken that chapter is what literally made these servers god awful but i mean hey..if they gotta work on stuff they gotta work on it what can we do
1 -
Can't wait for them to take an entire month between PTB release and still get nothing done
12 -
A shame, was looking forward to playing him despite his daft look. Perhaps they saw sense and decided to release a full chapter instead of a half baked one and included a map ;)

„The devs should communicate with us“
Well they clearly stated multiple times that the „pattern“ of two weeks release after PTB is not set in stone... why are you demanding more communication when you are simultaneously ignore what they have told us?
4 -
Saw a tweet saying 30th March at the earliest lol.
1 -
Another week to fix
The spammertrickster and to avoid another 50 new bugs, I'm sure about that :)3 -
It's The devs fault for not controlling the narrative. Most dev teams for live service games communicate ahead of time release dates. Destiny literally has a weekly update that goes over future content, balance changes, and expected release dates. Most of which they nail. Thats called being professional.
Dbd weirdly gets away with not doing bare minimum in communication to their fans

Ugh.
1 -
Saying, "We never officially confirmed a release date" is like your older sibling saying "I never promised you the cookie TODAY", it's beyond childish and reflects poorly on BHVR.
18 -
I just want to know why only paulie has brought this up wouldn't it make sense to bring this up with multiple fog whispers and if that's the case why not make an official statement
I'm really keeping my Hope's high by thinking that this is a early April fool's joke or something because I've been bored this month considering that clown buff was meh and not very entertaining
6 -
Luckily Hunt Showdowns event starts tommorow! See ya in the Bayouu!
3 -
Has anyone else said this?
0 -
That’s not a fitting comparison though..
they have always said it isn’t a fixed pattern.
adter the Twins chapter, they probably increased QA and bug fixing time, as heavily requested by the community.
we have precedent of longer time between PTB and release, just the last mid-chapter.
at least the forum mods have reconfirmed multiple times that there was and is no set release date.
2 -
Yes he did post that but it very well could be another troll as he did with the leak he posted
0 -
So was this brought up only with just one fog whisperer? We will hear about the delay from the others? If BHVR want to delay the chapter for whatever reason that's fine but the way they've communicated it is really confusing. Why have the fog whisperer act as PR manager? They could have just as easily said something about it on twitter or the forums and given clarification. Why now so close to what's to be the expected release date and not earlier? This whole thing really only brings up more questions than they answer. I ain't mad or nothing, just really confused?
4 -
True. But it's not like the speculation was uncertain or not known. Through a third party and literally the night before the speculated date was probably not the best way to announce a delay.
Remember how years ago someone said "use your Iri heads, they're going away SOON" and we are only hearing about Huntress add-on rework now? Makes sense coming from BHVR, this unclarified and kinda shady way to deal with communication and information, especially when it comes to balance changes. And then, when the change actually goes public it is small or disliked.
6 -
DBD is the only game I know of where DLC releases are sometimes not even known until a few hours before release. We also never know anything about the Chapter in advance until the PTB, then we know everything. Most other games build momentum and teasers leading up to the full reveal. It's such a strange system.
11 -
Sorry but it would be way more unprofessional to confirm release dates and then not holding them.
they said they are aiming for the 3 weeks, yes, but they also always that it could take longer.
and more time planned for QA is still a reasonable assumption after Twins chapter. Even though you personally find it unlikely.
(also currently we don’t have a confirmed release date, tomorrow is still possible..)
2 -
Pretty sure I remember them saying this when they announced the trickster. They did give a date
0 -
No, they did not give a date.
2 -
No they did not.
3 -
Y'all just can't be pleased can you lol
3 -
nobody in this discussion is even looking at the bottom picture. THEY NEVER RELEASED A DATE, sadly I was informed wrongly that the chapter is being released tomorrow by the discord server's game tutors.
1 -
they never even released a date if you have eyes look at the second picture.
0 -
If they actually delayed it, then holy crap I did not expect that. Did they actually learn from the last chapter?
3 -
nope probably problem with sony they couldnt accept updaet on time so they had to delay it
5 -
i've been saving my 1.350.000 points for 2 weeks now but ######### it i spend them,
they better buff trickster
2 -
Please don’t be obtuse just on the basis of a technicality lol.
6 -
I’m not being obtuse at all.
So many are up in arms over what was pure speculation. It’s embarrassing.
1 -
If that's the case, then I'm very thankful for Sony. The Trickster update could've been worse than the Twins' and Sony could have just saved us all from dealing with what could have been the worst DBD update ever.
