Why do people say Nurse is hard
I picked the game up in 2016. The first killer I played was Nurse. I realized I should play a bit more killer before playing her. After like 20 killer hours when I already started to get 2ks in all matches, I went back to Nurse. Played her untill she got level 15. After that I forgot her, but everytime I had a ritual, I managed to get 90% of my blinks to be lethal ones. Now I don't even play her at all, played her a bit after the rework and then forgot about the game itself. After getting in DBD after 1 year of not playing it, I still have no issues landing all my blinks.
Yet, I see everyone here saying it takes skill to pick up on Nurse and it is really wow if you master her. How come so? It took me 20 hours of Myers and 1 of Nurse to become a good one.

Cool story

The first few games with her are hard because she relies completely on her blinks and can’t be played like a normal M1 Killer.
many stop playing after the first few frustrating matches and say she is hard to learn..

Because Nurse, especially when learned at red ranks, is so fundamentally different to literally every other killer that adjusting to her is extremely difficult. The longer you go playing other killers, the harder it is to learn her when you try. Not to mention, Nurse requires a lot of mechanical skill and knowledge to use well, along with being extremely punishing of your mistakes.
Myers doesn't require one iota of the same level of skill and practice. He is only slightly different than a bog-standard M1 killer. Those 20 hours of Myers would have likely been just as difficult to learn with any other M1 killer, as he was (if I understand correctly) your first main killer. Yeah, you were learning Myers, but you were mainly learning fundamentals of killer.
Nurse is either the most, or the second most, difficult killer to learn just because of how wildly she shifts normal killer gameplay. At red ranks, or against good survivors, learning will be even harder because of tilt from being bullied and getting curbstomped constantly. At least Blight can be played as an M1 killer. Nurse requires you to jump into the deep end, and none of your killer fundamentals carry over in the slightest.
But that's just my opinion. Nurse's difficulty can vary for people - moistcritikal found her not too difficult. Guess it depends when you first start to play her.

How does any of this prove that Nurse isn’t hard?
19 -
She is,if you play against decent survivors.
5 -
nothing like the smell of cap in the morning
3 -
Nurse is very difficult if you're playing against anybody good. Who are you playing against?
6 -
By that logic every killer is hard?
4 -
What rank are you playing killer at brown?
0 -
Stop engaging him people. It's an ego stroking post. Ignore it.
10 -
I guess,but as jdcabral said.
She is one of the hardest killers to learn and master in DbD
0 -
Nice
0 -
I don't know if that's the case but if you picked dbd after a year that means you're on the low ranks, you can win easily with every killer on ranks 5-20
3 -
She isn’t as hard as people say she is but she’s at least in the top 5 hardest killers
0 -
This.
She isn't really that hard to play once you make it past her skill-floor but she relies on her power more than any other killer in the game due to her movement speed.
You can beat (bad to mediocre) survivors even without using your power (correctly) when playing a regular 115% ms killer.
Nurse on the other hand? No, even the worst survivors will just beat you by running away in a straight line so you HAVE TO use your power and you HAVE TO land your blinks.
1 -
I still don't get it either, I think Nurse is extremely simple. She doesn't play DbD, she ignores almost all mechanics in the game, the only thing you're thinking about is "where is the survivor". Pallets, walls, windows etc. are meaningless to you. With a killer power this ridiculously strong I don't see how playing and winning with Nurse could be considered difficult after a few hours of developing muscle memory (obviously assuming she's bug-free, which probably won't ever happen lmao)
1 -
Because you have to memorize tiles, buildings and other map peculiarities, individual survivor behavior patterns, vantage points, muscle memory and more to a very small window to allow a single hit... And if you miss? Well the awesome cooldown will make you lose the chase completely, possibly ending all your map pressure instantaneously.
3 -
Yup.
2 -
I find the over whelming majority of survivors don't know what to do against a good nurse. Perhaps it's because of her super low pick rate. I can't count the # of supposedly red survivors that try to pallet loop her like she is an M1 killer. When you face survivors that know how to juke and block LoS. You find out pretty quick how good or bad you are at Nurse
6 -
I'm gonna be honest,i've had a nice Nurse streak and thought i'm pretty decent with her but then i got a team that actually knew how to play against Nurse, had really good movement and were really hard to read and suddenly i realized i might be not as good with her as i thought i was lol
But yeah, most survivors struggle playing against Nurse because you almost never face her.And if you do it's either a baby Nurse or a god Nurse
1 -
When I face a survivor that loops the outside of the shack. I know it's going to be a rough match. Also if the map has corn Im screwed. Corn is my kryptonite.
2 -
Bit of an exaggeration. The cooldown isn't that bad, and in a lot of areas you can put the survivors in a situation where they will almost never be able to avoid you. Blinking to corners that a survivor just rounded will cover every option most of the time. Some main buildings are a little rough like the asylum and suffocation pit. And as for survivor patterns there's very little to think about. It's "will you double back or keep running" and you can easily react to both options if you're paying attention.

If you only have 20 hours in the game, your not going to verse proper players so she is not as hard for you get to around purple, and tell us how easy she is again
There are other things they surfs can do. Hug the tile, leave the tile, spin in place to think that they are double backing and hold W, double backing randomly, running in odd ways, moonwalking, did they commit to the W, are they waiting, and all of this is when you double back.
Along with dealing with this, the nurse will have to find out what kind of survivor they are, the pure W key gamer , or the the double back everytime survivor. At least making the first chase slower than it needs to be. After that, it depends on the survival she's got all the info from the first chase and is relying on your past playstyle. Good survs will change their previous playstyle confusing her. Making her repeat the process.
Running in a straight line Is a good counter as well. This will cause her to take a while to catch up, eventually getting near you to use her second blink, and if she fails she must go through the catch up process again.
Stealth is a big one, that a lot of people have to learn. Sure you may think it's boring but it waste her time so your teammates can pump out gens. Also don't react to her terror radius and move them. Move when the scratches get closer.
As you mentioned the "pallet walls windows" these can also be used properly. What side did they go on the pallet? Did they leave the pallet? Are they on the pallet? But this doesn't mean camp them. Instead try to throw it as soon as possible or leave it.
Fake the vault. If she can't see you slow vault, vault twice. But if you have no intention to use the vault make sure she doesn't see you through it, for e.g. if your getting chased at a short wall jungle gym don't run past, run around that short wall at the back as you would as if there was a huntress winding up.
Walls. Each and every one of them can have a different hitbox. Some have crates or boxes on the other side, so be are extra thick, some may be next to another wall, or even if your prediction is perfect on the nurse you can body block her blink. Making her blink nowhere. These can mess up your predictions.
These are some things she has to face.
1 -
Nurse is easy if the survivors are bad.
2 -
First, sorry for no response, I was sleeping.
Secondly,
I have 1000 hours not 20.
Thirdly, yes, I've been to the ranks where survivors believe they're gods and invincible. With nurse, at least, I have never had any issues with them. Now as I came back, I played killer and got them to rank 10 before the reset and now I'm at 12. I'm here because I really don't care about kills and I play even the most trash killers just for fun. But with nurse I don't have issues pipping.
As someone has asked this, no, I don't want to prove she is easy, I ask why she is said to be hard since all I've needed was a fundamental understanding of killers and a 1-2 hours spent on her.
Perhaps it was the fact that in 2016 people still were afraid of the killer, thus, I could learn easier.
I've encountered many overly-altruistic SWF groups, no issues 4k-ing them with nurse.

There's a big difference between green, purple and red rank survivors. Even between rank 4 and r1 survivors. Also remember a couple idiots on a team will ######### everything else up, that's why it's best to eliminate the weak links first as nurse.
1 -
Love when people judge killer strength by playing one or two games in brown to purple ranks.
2 -
Bugs with her power, areas she can't blink through/to, requires precision, is heavily guess oriented (need to know a survivor's multitude of options in any given scenario and predict correctly). That's probably why she's considered hard.
0 -
I would like it to be so, but at rank 10 I constantly get matched with 2-3 red ranks.
0 -
Oh, and the prevalence of dead hard in the meta, even if it's super unreliable, can make her job even harder as she's punished with a decent stun for being 'outplayed'.
0 -
Imo, all of this get understood with a bit of playtime. I would rather say that nurse is hard to pick up, medium to start understanding her and very hard to master.
0 -
I have no idea. Nurse has won me matches easier than any other killer in the game, and generally I play it less than once in a month because it is so ######### boring. People just can't time a simple ability I guess?
0 -
Because most people suck as her. For me personally, I perform best with Kavanagh's last breath. I perform the worst with the green version of that one and I perform alright with her base blink distance.
Right now I am trying to get used to the blink distance that she can have while having both the green and purple addons which increases her distance traveled.

Firstly, dont apologise. You don't have to respond in a heartbeat, sleep all you want this Is a discussion/debate, not life or death. Hope you had a nice sleep.
Secondly, my bad. I misinterpreted that you played for 20 hours then came back a year later. But as you said you're around rank 12, there's nothing wrong with that. But These survs are still learning let alone and can be a bad proof of a killers competance. Don't get me wrong, a good nurse would definitely destroy them survs. But since you said you haven't played high ranks. You haven't met a challenge therefore aren't learning her weaknesses. Not just that the green ranks do tend to be too altruistic as you said costing them the game.

The thing is that the game puts me mostly against red ranks. This is, perhaps, due to SWF teaming with lower ranks. I faced genrush instablinds hundreds of times. With Nurse, I have no trouble catching them. That's why I don't see why she is supposedly so hard.
0 -
Most swf who rank with lower rank tend to be bad, as most of them rely on there lower rank teammate as they probably got carried to that rank. But really it's the lack of nurses that cause them to not know how to counter, resulting in potatoes. Or maybe your just talented with her. Who knows
0 -
this technically isn't wrong, some are just harder then others and some have more payoff
1 -
She's has the highest skill ceiling in the game; people often confuse that with difficulty.
Learning how to be decent with nurse is not terribly difficult; but mastering her is essentially an unending task.
1 -
If you wanna make Nurse harder than she already is, use two of her ultra rares and bring a Hawkins map offering.
0 -
Nurse is easier than people think she is. She is not that hard. Blight, Clown, and other killers are much harder to master than her.
1 -
Ok then let's see some footage of you against a red rank squad I mean she's so easy you can just play the game and get the evidence immediately right? I'm beginning not to even take what people say on here with a grain of salt because it's just bait to argue otherwise you'd have a bunch of videos all ready to back up your claim that she's easy
0 -
Well, it is easy for someone who played in 2016 to say that. Players like you have been playing since the very beginning and understand the game better than most. However, for other players Nurse might be the hardest killer to learn.
0 -
And then everyone clapped?
0 -
you are not wrong, but she is hard to play as. you need to know every little trick a survivor might try, like hiding in the corner to confuse you. you need to know what you are doing with her.
0 -
You are a PC player then, which implies you have not seen console FPS for nurse
Nurse is extremely hard to play as, with her M/S being lower than survivors she heavily relies on blinks which on console is pretty hard to manage
0 -
Yeah sure but every killer has those limitations in regards to their power.
Nurse has a higher skill floor and it is super hard to master her. But it is definitely not so hard to play decent with her as people make it out to be.
