Huntress with Iri-Heads is still in the game after 4 years
The devs should answer as an emergency public health message why this killer is not nerfed yet. It is a grave disservice to the community.
Second game this morning already and it is a sweaty Huntress with Iri-Heads that is hooking and slugging everyone. It was a complete bloodbath.
This killer is actually much much worse and unfair than insta-gens that was nerfed a loooong time ago. If anything on the survivor side resembled the unfun-ness of this killer and her addons, it would have been nerfed immediately. Nobody ever wants to play against this. I would rather go to the dentist.

Actually when 4 survivors stack all their second chances this is pretty balanced

huntress is getting an addon pass very shortly, i’m sure iri head will be either removed or reworked.
non the least it better be lol
1 -
They've already said Huntress and her add-ons are going to be looked at.
OoO is still unnerfed, and I'd say is just about as unfun as Iri Head.
14 -
So, first off:
I can taste the barrel-aging used in this post. That's crafstmanship.
Secondly, Huntress is going to be getting a balance pass, and I'm guessing that Iri-heads are on the chopping block. No way to be sure, though. Exhaustion addons may be up there as well, and they honestly should be.
Obviously, this is more for anyone else reading this that may wish to seriously consider the topic at hand.
4 -
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the devs said they were gonna nerf OoO pretty soon.
0 -
They said they had a possible concept with no confirmed date.
Kinda like how Huntress is confirmed to be getting a change with no confirmed date.
3 -
I agree with Sluzzy. Never thought i would write this.
But instagens were still stronger.
1 -
I mean yeah, you can't make a case that they weren't.
0 -
Huntress is kind of just an old killer at this point.
Insanely strong addons
Unequal addon numbers
terrible hit boxes
If they fix her addons and hitboxes she’ll be fine
1 -
Though very strong but still loopabel. In tight loops huntress can never use hatchet and has to m1, then survivors can use dead hard , while u r injured iri = no add-on but worse
0 -
Depends on the perks the huntress uses too. If they both have meta and huntress has iri head she’s winning
0 -
"Oops, we made Huntress hitboxes the size of Clown's belly.
But don't worry! We'll have a fix soon!"
4 -
What’s worse in from what I remember there was an old QnA where someone asked “why are her hitboxes so big” and the devs said something along the lines of “This isn’t a precise game so hitboxes should be a bit bigger
THEN WHY ADD DEATHSLINGER!
2 -
Tbh, I've found the DongSlinger to have decent hitboxes
0 -
4 instant gen BPNs were less OP than still quite loopable and very much beatable overtuned huntress addon ?
This is some high quality post Sluzzy.
1 -
Iri head isnt the issue, infantry belt is.
5 -
So has Dead Hard.

For everyone commenting on the hitboxes of hatchets, here's some food for thought:
I have done a fair bit of work in the Havok engine. I do NOT know what physics engine is used for DBD, so this information may not apply. That said, in the Havok engine, the team I worked with did a lot of testing for bullet simulation, primarily to determine what the physics shape of a bullet should be. The results were as follows:
Perfect spheres offered the best collision detection when hitting something. Collision simulation from a sphere shaped bullet was extremely accurate and fast when the Sphere was detected to have hit something.
Cubes offered the best collision simulation when getting hit. Physics simulation when hitting a cube was insanely fast.
This would SEEM like it suggests spheres were best suited for bullets while cubes were best for environment assets, though that turned out NOT to be the case. When we made our bullets use sphere shapes, we encountered an issue where the speed of the projectile could pass through an object if it was going fast enough to skip through an object in between frames. So, while the sphere was best to collision simulation while hitting things, it needed to be detected hitting things in the first place, which was messy.
We ended up using cubes for bullets, as they offered a slightly slower response in exchange for consistency. This also let us stretch the physics box of the bullet, to allow people to "walk into bullets", which was really just a way of rewarding leading a moving target when aiming. Spheres could NOT maintain accurate simulation when stretched, cubes could.
Huntress hatchets are spheres. My guess is that this is for the sake of collision detection, as stated prior. Again, I don't know the physics engine being used, but it is possible that BHVR fell into the trapping that we found, and decided to enlarge the sphere to maintain hit consistency rather than try other shapes.

They did actually another shape, for a while. It was a hitbox roughly the same size as the physical model of the hatchet. As you can imagine, it was a disaster. Hatchets flying through survivors (especially noticeable when vaulting) was commonplace.

If the shape was anything but a cube or sphere, the collision calculation could easily have been muddled. If you have more information on the shape used, that would be great, but my thought has been on using essentially a Pizza Box that encompasses the Hatchet with a LITTLE bit of extra room on the sides to give some leniency on the horizontal axis.

I honestly have no clue. But nope let's nerf Hillbilly instead.
0 -
His hitbox is actually pretty good but it’s really precise which is in direct contrast to huntress
0 -
Good, it keeps her fun and interesting to play against.
0 -
Yup, that's what they did, and it didn't go well.

Looks like Sluzzy's threads are slowly staring to die off.
They're definitely not getting the same attention they used too.
2 -
Yeah I can see the power behind iridescent head add-on but it's more infantry belt that makes it OP you have 3 chances for ranged insta-down. If they locked Iri-head at 1 like how BNP works with Built to Last. It would be a lot better.
2 -
A Sluzzy thread I unironically partially agree with? Someone, quick, inject me with the killer main serum!
It's because I can't put my cute animals here anymore :pensive::nail_care:
1 -
Then go to the dentist, Sluzzy.
1 -
Yeah, looks like I can't post my croc and gator pics anymore. :(
1 -
Tried to fix her hit boxes literally made her unplayable on console it was reverted
1 -
People play deathslinger on console and Do well.
0 -
She's getting her add ons changed soon. Besides she's so rare I've only gone against 2 so far this year so waiting for the change isn't going to bother me.
0 -
I do agree that her instadown hatchets need to go, or at least be limited to 1 hatchet no matter what (so no iri head + infantry belt shenanigans).
0 -
In that case, I would have widened the Pizza Box more until it was consistent while not becoming the basketball the current hatchets have today. Still, I'm curious as to what went wrong there. I see some people mentioning issues on console, which is fair nuff since it's harder to get accurate shots on a controller. That said, still seems like a middle ground could have been achieved.

No it isnt, even with one Iri Head hatchet, you're cutting a chase by more than 50% seeing as you don't get the speedboost from getting injured.
Not only that but it's a one shot add-on with with very little input needed in order to be used, at least with add-ons such as Red Head's Pinky Finger or Iridescent Blight Tag, there's at least some form of skill requirement needed in order to get the insta down. Hatchets, with their large hitbox and pretty easy controllability, do not require a player to do anything special in order to make use of the add-on.

Iri head is one of the only counters to a 4 man SWF with DS/UB/BT/DH and once it's removed people will just turn to Spirit more.
2 -
Huntress, because every -multiplayer- game needs an easy-mode, hand-held, babied crutch option.
Oh wait, no that's just -single- player games. Putting an easy-mode hand-holding option into a -multiplayer- game just kills the game.
Silly me for not making that blindingly obvious connection instantly.
Some people just need training wheels I guess. Quite sad really.
0 -
That's because it's almost impossible to react to it do you dodge objects at the speed of a bullet nonetheless in a game where there is delay for inputs
0 -
Yes but if you can hit the shot on target with deathslinger you can hit it with huntress
0 -
The problem I have is that not many people use it though. Yes it does need a nerd BUT its not as big of an issue as some make it out to be. When it does eventually happen is it unfun? Definitely. But how much does it happen right now? I rarely see it. So it does need a nerd but I don't think it needs it right now. Something like keys are a bigger issue right now ya know because people actually use those a lot more.
1 -
Don't forget about that early game mechanic and key rework. Coming any day now...
0 -
I wish. I've gone against a ton of huntresses this year. Lots of good ones too.
0 -
I usually disagree with you, Sluzzy, but this thread is yet another exception. Iri-Head is unfair and should get changed. And we all know it will get changed.
However, Iri Head is not as broken as Insta-Gens were.
1 -
Just goes to show you that favoritism exists.
Huntress is the most popular killer (especially among Twitch streamers), which can explain why the devs have been dragging their feet on this issue.
1 -
I'll bet anything they nerf iri head in the addon-on pass or w/e. On a side note I think they will make it like slingers were you have to hit a hatchet when your x amount of meters away
