Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Please stop using the word "toxic"

I have a feeling that for most people the meaning of toxic is:

Toxic = I don't like what they are doing

This is however incorrect. Most people call completely legal gameplay as toxic.

I think the only toxic things are: DCing, cursing and being rude in chat, holding the game hostage, using some exploits and bugs, hacking, afk, survivor cooperating with killer, suicide on hook.

What is not toxic: bringing strong items and add-ons, map offerings, Tbagging, flashlight clicking, gen rushing, notification spamming, body blocking the killer, camping, tunneling, noed, slugging.

To divert the attention of the killer, try to make the killer to commit to a chase.

If you as a killer can't handle these situations it is your fault, but it is not toxic.

Teabagging is a form of disrespect. So it's toxic. Especially at the exit gates.

Clicky clicky is annoying, but not really toxic.

Flashlight clicking: creates sound and light, "look, I am here, come and get me"

Tbagging: "come and get me if you can, I am not even running away"

How else are you supposed to do it? Some killers literally stop camping because someone clicks them or t-bags them, it's far more than just "toxic", it's genuinely useful in some situations.

There is no another way. Just be toxic. But stop pretending it's not

Absolutely agree. A lot of people categorise tunnelling, camping or slugging as toxic when it's simply a strategy the killer can use to win the game, just like how survivors can bring any perk or item to help them rush gens.

The only things that are toxic for either side, IMO are:

Killer: Hitting on hook, standing over a slug until they fully bleed out.

Survivor: Take the game hostage (hiding), sandbagging, clicking and tbagging.

But even so, I find survivors tbagging cheeky and funny occasionally. Depends on the match.

Bad sportsmanship is universally frowned upon and not accepted in any way shape or form with any sport?

idk, i don't let things that don't have an impact on a match bother me tbh.

Why exactly are those toxic? Could you explain it a bit with some valid arguments?

The word's lost all meaning at this point, it's just people calling the most pathetic things toxic because they can't handle someone pressing the crouch button at them in a videogame.

whats the purpose of tbagging at the exit gates or hatch then? Or clicking/tbagging every few steps even if you are chasing them anyway?

I'd say things that are done to ruin the experience of someone else is toxic.

Noise notification spam, facecamping, teabagging, flashlight clicking (in some situations), tunneling just for the sake of it, slugging everyone and not hooking to make everyone waste time on the ground, sandbagging, bodyblocking.

Worst is people who calls camping/tunneling/gen rushing etc "toxic" when the game is free to play how you want.

The things that are not strategies to win like t-bagging, hit people on hook, clicking etc ok that might be something that could be toxic, or close to it. But toxic for me is people trashtalking after a game. This is why there should be no way to write to others after the game.

This is a typical statement for someone trying to make a legit statement sound invalid. If you reduce the action of tbagging to pressing a button, it is the same as comparing a said insult to words coming out of someone’s mouth. That one’s action has an intention and a message that is send to the consignee is a fact that does not just disappear because it is send via internet. Stating that we are talking about ones behaviour in a videogame is a sad attempt to lessen the responsibility one has for their actions and behaviour at all times (yes, we all are responsible for our behaviour and decisions even in virtual/internet settings).

Anyone who thinks DBD I’d toxic in any way is just a snowflake, and needs to evaluate what toxic behavior actually is.

People who’ve played any moba, or any shooter prior to 2010 knows what real toxic behavior is. This game is not, in any gameplay sense toxic. You got clicky-clicky’d, or bagged at a gate or pallet, good the player gained less distance or isn’t doing gens, win for you as killer. Got camped and tunneled, kinda lame, but if you play it right everyone else should get out and survive.

The community by and large isn’t toxic, most take the game pretty easy really. I’ve played 1400 hours and maybe had two people try and make post game chat personal, getting salt about camping isn’t toxic.

The gaming community invented the "tea bag" to be toxic, that's the whole reason. "I don't find tea bagging toxic" good for you but that doesn't mean it isn't toxic.

...okay? You know, if you try to divert the attention of the killer by annoying the player behind it on purpose, that's kind of the definition of toxic behavior. Be toxic if you want, but don't try to sugarcoat it.

I can get the attention of the killer easily without bm. Choosing to do it in a way that community considers bad behavior is...well, bad behavior, which is toxic.

"The word's lost all meaning at this point, it's just people calling the most pathetic things toxic because they can't handle someone pressing the crouch button at them in a videogame."

That is really flawed logic. Simple actions get a specific meaning in every community, and you can't hide behind the action itself. Like, if you give someone the middle finger, you are basically saying "######### you". It's not suddenly not toxic if you tell you just raised one finger, big deal. Just basic social norms, it's not that difficult.
