Maybe people aren't playing Trickster the way the devs intended him to be played
As a community we sometimes forget that the way we play is vastly different from the way the devs intended this game to be played. The same way old Freddy & Twins aren't supposed to be played as a regular killer could be the same case for the Trickster.

you sound like almo saying clown is underrate.

I'm in the denial stage if I'm being honest.
28 -
So do you chase a survivor at a long/short wall hitting him with one knife every loop or do you bloodlust to get a pallet drop and then break it while survivor holds W?
9 -
Clown was underrated before his buff. People still don't know how to use clown unlike a few select of us.
1 -
Oh please

Hmm, maybe, but what would it be? I'm a pretty dumb guy myself so I can't think of a lot of things, but:
- he can't be a chase killer, since he's so slow and take so much time to down with his power.
- he can't be a camp killer, again, 'cause he can't down fast.
- he can't really be a slugger, still because of his power.
- he doesn't have map pressure.
I mean, maybe he excels at hitting a lot of survivors at the same time?... For starters, I really don't think that would be it, and plus, standard meta tells that survivors must spread across the map quickly as possible, so...
If devs really have hidden ways of playing him, I'd really be curious about them.

Ah yes, my favorite alternate playstyle: Losing
("I'm in the denial stage" I feel that)

Clown is underrated.
Trickster isn't.
When us Clown mains are saying "no, it really is that bad," BHVR just needs to shut the ######### up with "their intentions" and listen.
3 -
(This is just for laughs survivors) well if you can’t actually tunnel, camp hooks, or slug effectively...... there will be no complaints from survivors 🤔

I think the community would be more than ecstatic for a few devs to livestream public games demonstrating how Trickster should be played.
3 -
I assure you that Trickster has absolutely NOTHING over any killer in the game.
He just has no identity power wise. There's not a single situation where you'd think "Damn,i would have not been able to do that with any other killer.
The only thing he's great at is getting "Entity Displeased" over and over again.

No-one is trying to play Trickster as an m1 killer.
1 -
Then how are we supposed to play the trickster?
1 -
Lol so true
1 -
what the poster is saying is that no killer is going to willingly play a 110 as an m1 with a very non-lethal power. The power is a detriment in most cases and killers are left basically having to play him as machete man with no traps that doesn’t move at 115.

U can't control which way survivors run towards as killer, u can only follow or cut corner. This killer might be okay in open ground but terrible in tight high loops
1 -
It's simple, don't! :D

Sounds more like Bargaining to me.

Funnily enough, seeing Almo playing twins was just using them to camp hook lol.

Not even Almo can defend Trickster. Apparently he streamed some gameplay, and in 3 games he only used his knives 3 times, and one of those was on an AFK survivor, with the other 2 being on the last survivors remaining in the match, one of which was in the exit gates.
1 -
Even then we already have lots of killers that can punish outpositioned survivors better than him.
He's just trash and there's no reason to play him over any other killer right now

Just as an aside..... in many previous topics, they were shut down near immediately when devs were name dropped. If I were any of you, I’d really keep it non specific like “the devs” “a dev” etc... not telling anyone what to write, I just understand how these forums are policed and I’m quite hard on the devs

Ironically had to just so I could adept him. Only when I was like half way into the match did I feel comfortable using his power without any risk, since someone was dead and I had 3 gens to spare.
But that whole session required literally a one time chance where all of the planets to aligned with a decent map, decent add-on set-up which worked in my favor, and a team that wasn't entirely composed of Red Rank 1 players but wasn't also composed of "baby survivors" either.
Otherwise it was fine. Only took... 7 hours... and it ruined my chance of day 1 P3ing him... But realistically if I didn't have to waste so much time trying to get that done, I could've easily done it with time to spare thanks to my challenge preservation and various other methods of saving BPs.

pig, deathslinger, ghostface, plague, those are killers meant to shake up gameplay on both sides.
Trickster? he feels loosely stabled together from early-stage development ideas of other killers... the ideas that even the devs thought are ridiculous... back then...

Honestly, I know what you mean. I feel like I'm shooting myself in the foot by trying to use his power. At this point I think I've gotten more health states with basic attacks.
But, if I hadn't been trying so hard to use his knives, I wouldn't have conditioned the survivors to play in such a way that a 110 killer can loop them. Which is pretty much how all of my trials have turned out: try and play Trickster like a killer with a power, then forget the whole thing and snowball massively as a 4.4 killer when the survivors are feeling unbeatably cocky.

Clown is actually really good. Until you play against survivors who know how to play against him, which is dead simple. Just drop pallets.

I do think it's funny people bring their under leveled Trickster into Red Rank matches (or going for Adept) and are surprised they get stomped on a Killer they never played without a solid build or full perks. I decked my man out before I took him out and got a 4K, 3K, and 2K. He's weak, but you can't help weak players as well.
1 -
Bloodlust it. Can't believe I'm saying it. Hitting with one or two knives won't do anything against a good survivor. They eventually force the pallet break and lose LOS long enough to induce the laceration decay. It's hard to overstate how weak Trickster is against good players.
3 -
That's realistically the only way you can make it work, at least for adept. When it comes to perks you could probably make him a decent low-tier Killer with Corrupt, Pop, etc, but I don't really like the idea of perks being needed to make up for an issue.
Honestly if they gave him 4.6m/s it would actually improve things by a massive margin. Even if they just put a built in ricochet ability with the knives (like with the trick knife add-on), then it could still improve a lot with the killer and maybe make for some sick hits as well around corners.

I've noticed his power works well against people who immediately try and save people from hooks, or hook block in general. Now when I say that know I'm a survivor main and sit around rank 10-15 in killer but if you get his power up and people go for hooks quickly you can down em in one hit which is nice.

I would really love to see a stream where they explain their reasoning for why Trickster is the way he is. I'm not being sarcastic at all -- I want to understand the design. I also want the character to be viable, because I love his cosmetics so much.

wich is that way?
tunnel a survivor with random throws until it finally be downed? losing an incredible amount of time in a single chase (f gens)?
don't tunnel them .... to magically lose these blade injuries?
??????????????????????????????????????????????????

I watched one on the official account once. I popped in right as he was insidious basement camping with Bubba.

Dude I'd give any dev my stimulus check if they went up against a top tier swf live and beat them in a best of 5 with Trickster. Live stream that #########.
2 -
That's not entirely true.
While playing Trickster, I could not ever see 4 survivors sitting in an open gate, teabagging like crazy, say: "Jokes on you - you're my back up dancers" and start screeching lyrics to my favorite Kpop song.
