What is the heal tech?

...never heard of it unless their talking about the 99% resilence self care? Or healing at exit gate to prevent pickup.

The heal tech is the fact that the killer cannot pick up a survivor that is currently being healed
The primary use case of this, is when the killer downs someone in the exit gate area but they aren't close enough to escape, so survivors will stand over them and begin 'healing' them which forces the killer to hit them to stop. While the killer is in the wipe animation, the downed survivor will have a short window to crawl and if enough people do this/the survivor is close enough they can escape when they otherwise wouldn't.

Maybe when 3 people with soulguard and wglf (+some other healing speed things) heal faster then the killer downs them.

The heal tech revolves around the fact that Killers can't pick up Survivors who are being healed by another Survivor.
What this means is that in an open exit gate, a Survivor can prevent a pick up on a downed teammate and force the Killer to hit them instead. That gives the downed survivor more time to crawl and may result in them getting out when they otherwise wouldn't especially if the whole rest of the team does it.

I like it, that said barely anyone knows it exists. I've had survivors die that otherwise would have lived if they hadn't cancelled my heal and tried to crawl that last 2 meters.

I feel stupid for asking this since I've been gaming for 35 years but what does tech mean? I hear people talking about the term all the time.

"technique".

Exploits endorsed by the devs. Ie mercy super jump.

I don't see how it's an exploit as it's clearly intended by the game that killers can't pick up survivors being healed.
An exploit would be crawling under something like a hooked survivor and abusing broken hitboxes to prevent the killer from picking you.

Exploits are generally only considered as such if they are unintended. Killers being unable to pick up survivors who are being healed probably is intended

ty. Makes sense now because I've seen the mercy jump.
I've seen such spots. I hope they get rid of them soon. One match on The Game I had a Bill on the 2nd floor. Every single time he heard my TR he ran to this one spot next to a rack. When I downed him he would fall on the rack and it was impossible for me to pick him up. He kept doing this throughout the game. I eventually started using him as bait for anyone making a rescue. The randoms he was with caught on and left him for dead. He eventually bled out. Was pretty ironic yet poetic justice.

This. Not being able to pick up someone being healed, intended. Blight "J techs" or climbing a rock that the killer can't get up? Exploit.

Oh yeah, lol ik what it is then.
I don't think it is that big of a deal, I am pretty sure it is an intended feature of the game.

Yeah, it is so unfair when survivors use teamwork to save each other! They should not be allowed to do that!
7 -
Because its on survivor side. Everything on survivor side gets labelled as a tech and skillful.
Really its such a dumb and cheap oversight in the mechanics.

Thats not an exploit.

I'm okay with it. Even if it is an 'exploit', I feel like it's good gameplay, so if survivors pull a high level trick like that on me I'm just gonna congratulate them on it.

Save the best for last murder them with smacks.
