Demogorgon's portals
I just had a demogorgon scare the pants off of me with a gen grab. Apparently, he placed a portal on the gen I was working on, only I couldn't see it until after he teleported to it and yoinked me off the gen. I was busy looking around the area for his approach rather than at my feet, not expecting to be sitting on the portal.
So, I don't play much killer anymore, and even when I did, I hardly touched Demo. Is that how his portals work? They're not visible to the survivor until after he teleports to or from it? Or is it a bug?

You can’t see them until he uses it. A big brain demo can use that in conjunction with Discordance/BBQ/Tinkerer to ambush people from them if the huge “raaaaaaaghhh” and stomping isn’t enough to make them pay attention

Demo's portals are not visible to survivors until they've been "activated" (by Demo teleporting to/from them).
Then survivors can see and seal them, but Demo can also gain Killer Instinct info from them.

His portals aren't visible to a survivor until he 'activates' them. And he can only activate a portal by teleporting to or from it.
So he'll place one portal, go somewhere else, place another portal, then teleport between them, which activates them both.
An Activated portal can be seen by, and closed by a survivor, and can be used by the Demo to detect survivors who are close to the portal via his Of The Abyss ability.

Thank you very much for the responses! I didn't know that. Next time, I'll look at my feet and over my shoulder when I hear him teleport me. I've been playing over a year and this is the first time a demogorgon has ever done it.

Not to be mean, but i really like that it caught you off guard.
Isn't that why there's so many spoopy Myers videos? Cause he can catch you off guard more easily than most others.

Oh, I'm not complaining! It literally made my heart skip a beat and and my butt cheeks clench together hard enough to turn coal into diamond. It's the one aspect I miss from being new to the game, actually getting scared. I just wish they'd move away from chases a bit to more jump scares (I know I'm in the minority, but its what I want). Its what got me sucked into this game.

This is literally only one thing that makes dbd sometimes scary. And I love it!

I hate jump scares lol I'm such a scaredy cat lol
Its why I played killer at first, but then Elodie came out and caused me to jump as killer when she screamed lol
I play survivor more now, and have only seen 2 demos. The last one was good, but not stealthy. He had a 3 gen and 2 survivors left (including myself after 1 dc). He laid down portals at the gens and me and the other survivor kept alternating between gen and cleansing. We popped the last gen, but then other teammate got downed and he camped. I escaped but it was a fun match. Demo players are usually fun
