I've never seen Leatherfaces films but I pretty much get the gist of cannibals and man-child. Same as Freddy. Never watched em since those films terrify me even now as a 31 year old adult but I get their general gist. Resident evil general gist is zombies and biological viruses that create mutatitions and zombies. Pretty straight forward most of the time. Unless you delve into the non virus zombies. Then it's a little more complicated.

Well they do make a concerted effort to pick out the most iconic series. I don't know crap about Scream but I know that it's about a funny man running around in a bad halloween costume while committing felony murder.

That's actually kind of the point of licesened chapters! In a weird way.
It's sorta like mutual advertising for both franchises, it usually benefits one more than the other but it's still a mutual agreement.
