Killer procrastination

So, this is what's happening to me from the moment i started to play DBD.

I have ~70 hours in game, 50/50 as killer and surv, rank 10 surv, rank 11 killer, so looks like i'm not quite new to the game. But still, when I'm thinking of playing the killer I literally get goosebumps. Before entering the game as the killer I would do anything to postpone that. I can open the game and then minimize it and go to youtube or twitch to watch some dbd videos like it will help me to play better soon, or I can explore dbd forum, fandom, even in-game store, but not enter the lobby.

I'M AFRAID OF PLAYING KILLER :D

Everytime I have thoughts that the next game is the game when I'll get destroyed, when I'll do 0-1 kills, when I will be deranked and when survs will write in the chat that I'm noob. Well, I know that I actually am, but to get better you have to play instantly, and I hardly forcing myself to do this.

Btw, playing as surv I will doubtfully sit to the gen if there's already someone else, just not to put him at risk if I'll miss the skil check. It already happened few times and I felt terrible :D

Has anyone expirienced the same feelings when started to play?

Turn off or ignore post game chat. There is no positive to it in this game.

If you lose, consider that the survivors were just better/more experienced than you.

Basically, until you have a lot of experience in the game, just think "I'm not an expert, it's ok if I mess up."

Obviously it's not always entirely possible to NOT care what other people think, but it's the only healthy way to play this game.

I experienced the same. It goes away someday.

Why you forcing yourself to play killer if you don't like it?

I enjoy playing killer and I avoid playing survivor because I don't want to.

It's not a job, you don't have to do it.

This is a fear I used to have when I first started. The best way to overcome it is to just keep playing killer until you get used to it. You're still new and have lot of things to learn, just take it easy and don't give a damn about winning or losing.

It gets better with playtime. Also its good to have low or none expectations when loading into match, set up yourself with a goal other than 4k merciless.

Either archive challenge, 4 BBQ stacks or just play simply for getting better, practice chases and mindgames and try not to think much about losing or your rank.

I know its easier said than done but trust me, it will be much better with more playtime

I think multiplayer/competitive anxiety happens to a lot of people. I've experienced it in fighting games before but I'm now at a point where I never feel that anxiety anymore. You just have to play a lot and you'll eventually queue for matches and not even be thinking about it. You don't ever have to see what people say to you if you hide the chat, and there isn't a reason to be ashamed of your gameplay or whatever. All the survivors see is an opponent, nothing more. You're just playing a videogame for fun like everyone else.

I used to experience this anxiety, but it is long gone now.

When I am going to play killer, nothing but one sentence echoes through my mind:

    "I know I shouldn't, but I will"

When I started playing dbd I was playing survivor with my friend. But I always was curious for playing killer.

I did encounter many scary survivors when I started playing killer. I was losing my mind trying to catch them. Some of them could run me for 5 gens without being hit. They would run for 10 and 15 gens if they could. I felt helpless but I never wanted to quit playing killer because I actually find it more fun than survivor. Now I can catch any survivor relatively quickly. Best of them can run a ~minute which still can make me lose. But I don't feel scared anymore no matter how confident survivor is.

So what I want to say. If you don't really like to play killer, you probably shouldn't force yourself to do things you don't enjoy. Come back to killer when you feel ready.

Tbf. the Best advice i can tell you is, Learn from the Best killers.

There's also the self taught way but that would technically take too long..

Like if need be though however. i can help you get extremely better at the game if need be,

Yeah I wouldn't suggest that mentality on either side really. I mean often that is part of it or the case; but DBD is massively unfair. Sometimes a map will literally just have awful spawns, or in solo queue a teammate will throw, or you'll be playing a low tier killer and matchmaker tosses you up against a comp team.

Just in general don't take too much stock in winning or losing in DBD because if you do you're going to have a frustratingly bad time, if you can't learn that some things in DBD are literally just beyond your control you're going to struggle.

If you are playing trickster in his current state, with like no real perks unlocked yet and your getting red rank survivors and you are not even red rank yourself....like of course you are going to lose unless they throw for some reason. Just focus on having fun and enjoying chases, using your power, and make your own game conditions to focus on. Be it "this game I just want to do this thing with billy's saw" or whatever.

You'll go against godly billy players and win against them because they are literally just practicing saw curves; they have like 5000 hours in the game they didn't get 5000 hours because they cared about winning, they have it because they are just having a blast doing what they are doing.

Honestly I feel better when playing if I try for just 4 bbq stacks less pressure that way at the end and at the end I'm just like well at least I got a 100% bonus Bloodpoints. Playing killer can be daunting because not only do you want to get that 4k but the loathing possibility that you'll run into try hard salty trolls.

When I first started playing DBD, skill checks were hell for me - I didn't want them and tried to keep the killer busy because I found it easier. So I got knocked down after 2 seconds, but thought that was better than sitting down at the generators. XDD

And killer was a total nightmare, at first you don't even realize when you're getting screwed. I never wanted to play killer again after a few nasty rounds.

Then I started watching a few streams, of people who could really do it - and I got better. On both sides.

By now I think I'm an acceptable to good killer and a teammate you can rely on as a survivor.

Give yourself time, practice and don't get discouraged. <3

I have 600 hours, most of them in killer and I'm frequently afraid I'll get destroyed. Sometimes I do get destroyed, sometimes I destroy them and sometimes its a nice balanced match.

At the end of any match, ask yourself "What can I do better?", then move on to the next one.

Also ignore endgame chat, just drop a gg and go.
