Would you quit the game if you would lose all your progress?
Everything at zero. All characters at level 1, no shards, no cosmetics, no bloodpoints, etc.
I want to switch from Ps4 to PC. But without crossprogression i would lose everything. Over 2000 hours. So i probably will still play on ps4 and quit when i dont use my ps4 anymore. So i would want to know what you would do if you would be forced to start from zero?

Honestly, I don't know. I really enjoy this game and 3k hours of progress is a lot of time.
It depends how would I lose the progress. Did I get BHVRed and they somehow deleted all my stuff ? If so, yes, gone forever or until I get it all back.
Did I lose my account information and can't log back in or reclaim it in any way. I'd probably buy DBD again and play for a bit (or go crazy and start grinding).

On the one hand it would be tragic losing all my cosmetics and progress.
On the other i could be a bit smarter about which teachable perks to unlock and which ones you leave for after every killer has the important ones

Really hard to say tbh but if I didn’t lose my cosmetics I bought with money probably not

I'm almost positive I would quit. I'm sorry but the thought of 1k hours as well as over $100 spent is just an insane amount of time and money to lose. Maybe if I took a huge break, I'd come back.
With that being said, if it makes you feel any better, I'm in the same boat as you my friend. My PC build should be finished in a few weeks but since I play on console and there's no cross-progression, I'm screwed.

Nah.
It's like making a new character from a whole different account.
It's new experience again and it sometimes excites me.

I'd quit if I lost progress for sure. Quit and never look back.
But I did what you are talking about. I went from PC to PS4 as soon as it was available, so I did start over, but back then I didn't have nearly that much, I guess I had a year or two of PC stuff (I was a day 1 player)..
Short answer, I did it on my terms. But I wouldn't never start over again now.

No, I wouldn't quit. I already lost all my progress when I switched to PC. As long as I still want to play, I will. Even if it means starting over.

I would most definetly quit.
i spent a lotta money and time on this game, if i were to lose it forever i would be GONE. I would not give BHVR more money than its already been given due to people like demi giving new players hurt by matchmaking any dlc they want just so they keep playing in this toxic community (me included)

Hang in there with the PS4 until you can get a PS5. Your progress carries over.
1 -
Yes, without hesitation would leave this game and never look back.
4 -
I would still play, if you lose your progress you can get it back via customer support. If I somehow lost it all for good though? I would still play honestly.
1 -
I've already started over willingly.
So no.
4 -
You can be way more efficient with what you spend your points on now, you know exactly who you enjoy to play as, and exactly what you want them to wear, I feel like it wouldn't be too huge of a set back, only thing you'll lose out on totally are event cosmetics or rift charms if you care about those at all.

1,000% YES. I'm not rebuilding 900 hours worth of progress.
2 -
I want to switch to PC, but I too am on PS4. I will never start over from zero. I am not doing that grind again, and I'm not re-purchasing all the DLC. I would absolutely quit before starting over.
4 -
Yes, in a heartbeat. I've already had to do so once, and there's no way I'm doing it again, especially if I've lost my skins too.
1 -
I'd probably cut my losses and move on to other games if I lost everything I'd done up to this point.
I've been a pretty solid fan of DbD (hence why I'm still playing after almost 3 years) and there's still nothing else like it, but I don't think I'd be willing to commit the amount of time necessary just to retread things I'd already done.
1 -
Yeah I'd be done

I switched from Switch to PS4. It was a pain getting everything back again. I don't think I could do it again. But I've already done it once. Starting over it was a bit easier, though it got hard quick when I ranked up and didn't have good perks.

After investing 5.4k hours I doubt that I would be able to start over again and get all perks on my main survivor/all killers and P3 them. If I were to restart I would probably keep them at P0 and just get the most important perks, nothing more though.

Yes, 100%.
Losing progress in a game with 2700 hrs invested would make me uninstall forever.
1 -
It would be the final nail in the coffin for me.
1 -
I would definitely stop playing. Too much time and money put in.
1 -
I would propably stop playing. 5 years and over 2000 hours is not something I'm willing to rebuild from scratch, as much as I love the game, I wouldn't do it, especially now when the game's so rocky and my passion is definitely on it's last legs when it comes to dbd.
1 -
It would take me a loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong time to be willing to do it again.
And let me be clear, a looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong time.
I lost my save file of persona 5 (with about 40 hours of progress, which, in p5, is very little in the grand scheme of things...). Didn't touch the game again for 2 years.

If I keep all my DLC characters and everyone else suffered the same fate? Yeah, definitely. It'd be fun to have a fresh start with everyone else.
If I lost all my DLC, then I'm out. And if I were the only one to suffer the fate and BHVR doesn't help me get my stuff back, then I'm out.
2 -
Yep I'd be gone. I'm in the same boat as these PS4 players, there's no Cross Progression and it's not coming for my Xbox either. After thousands of hours rebuying & then regrinding everything is a dealbreaker and then some.
I'd nope right on outta there.

I'm curious as to about how many hours you had into the game before restarting, and between what platforms did you shift?
0 -
I already did, though if that happened to me, I'd surely leave the game (even if I got any kinds of compensation possible).
1 -
Hell yeah!
2200 hours, with almost every perk unlocked for every killer, all survivor perks unlocked.
I'm not going through that again.
4 -
If BHVR wasn't able to recover my progress, then yes, I would quit for good.
2 -
I take screenshots periodically to show what I have in my Scrooge McDuck Fault as well as what Perks I have. I heard the horror stories of people sometimes losing everything and in this way I have something to show BEhavior so they can put it back.

The only reason why a lot of people are still playing this game is because they've already invested so much of their time and effort to levelling characters and collecting skins, so I'd imagine MANY people would quit if they had all that grind taken away from them. Unless there was a way to edit a save file and use it without getting banned on the current patch I'd definitely uninstall. The grind is too much, and BHVR ######### knows it which is the worst part.

i still waiting for them to give me my legacies back

I started a new account on Steam, both are still online on Steam.
0 -
No, I would not. However, I would be extremely disappointed and heartbroken. I've been playing DBD since 2018 and it would take a very long time to regrind everything.
0 -
I wouldn't start over. After a certain point of play time the idea of going back to zero is not going to happen for me. If I didn't have as many hours as OP invested I might but 2k progress just gone? Nope. I would buy MHW a 2nd time but for PC if I didn't feel like starting over from scratch.
1 -
If my rank reduced all the way to 20, HELL NO I WOULDN'T QUIT. I would love to be rank 20 again, even if I dont have my perks and such, I still have 1K+ hours worth of experience in the game. I would love to have some easy matches where I can stomp players for a change, and have more fun playing killers that I never play, but since the ones I dont play are usually the high tier killers, everyone already knows how to counter even the good players who play them.

Probably. The grind on this game is very rewarding but also very laborious, and I'm equally lazy.
0 -
without a doubt

I've lost all my progress before and was simply demotivated by the fact I had to spent I think it was 156 mil BP. This was also when spending BP took longer. It was so draining I had to spend hours and hours doing it, I didn't play for weeks.
So I imagine in the situation you described I'd take a really long break and probably come back. However instead of trying to get every perk on every survivor/killer, I'd just focus on what I really need. Just one maxed out survivor. A few maxed out killers that I enjoy playing. I likely wouldn't have the motivation to do much more than that. But, who knows.

I moved from PC to PS4 a couple of years ago but luckily i had only bought 2 chapters and had 700 hours in the game so it wasn't so bad.
If I lost all progression now though I would quit because I have all the dlcs etc. Honestly though if someone offered to give me a full refund for everything and leave the game I would.

I don't know.
I have a really strong relationship with dbd, so me leaving it is basically a chunk of my teenage years being stripped away.
But at the same, I'm way to impatient to bother trying to get 3,000 hours worth of progress back. Also I find it embarrassing how players are able to lose progress in this game.

Ahhh yes I've heard a little about this "Steam" concept. Interesting. So PC all the way got it. Oh, wait I actually have a (very inactive) steam thingy myself.
Ty for the response!

I feel the same way. I have a similar number of hours and $ invested and I can't see myself starting over again unless maybe 5 years went by and I checked back in to see how the game had evolved.
1 -
Gone like donkey kong
1 -
I've lost so many MC worlds as well. Either because of my own dumbass or because my PC got some problems. I have gotten so used to losing my worlds in some way all the time xD

No one is being FORCED to start from zero. No one is making people switch platforms. No one is forcing you to even play the game. The meaning of words matter - and frankly "forced" is the wrong word in this scenario.
0 -
Yes, 100%. Losing just money (cosmetics) is one thing but the grind I already put in? Thats time and its the most valuable thing there is so I would not play the game anymore

You must be fun at parties.
