Don’t let the door kick you on the way out Freddy (:
Thanks for finally fixing him devs! (: couldn’t ask for anything more. Hopefully this means a decline in Freddy matches overall.

The way out? If it is up to me, he is not going anywhere. Nothing is capable of making me quit Freddy. And they didn't fix him, they nerfed him.
46 -
I doubt it, he'll still be pretty strong and very easy to play. I wouldn't celebrate just yet if I were you, especially if you had trouble facing him before, you'll still struggle a lot.
30 -
I guess all Freddy OP threads will disappear now.
🤣🤣🤣
Yeah we know they won't.
55 -
While this is true, you have to admit Freddy had a bit too much going for him. I however don't agree with the immunity from being asleep also being added. That was a step overboard. Nor do I think dream pallets needed a nerf. Everything else is fine, though.
But yes, you are right. Overall, 99% of survivors (As proven by these forums) are bad. They simply don't want to learn to get better.
As it is when I play Freddy I don't use addons, and I maybe use 1 or 2 snares in a match (basically M1 and teleport only). Unless they hump main building or something. I still win because most survivors suck. They still complain.
16 -
As somebody who really like Freddy Krueger as a character, I’m cool with this. In fact I welcome these balance changes of it means I can stop getting flamed EVERY. SINGLE. GAME. By salty survivors just because I want to play as my favorite horror movie icon.
11 -
Nah, his Slowdowns needed to go. Those were unnecessary.
9 -
If freddy was just his little manlet self with no terror radius during sleep, sleep on hit, and his teleport. He would still be plenty viable. the snares are just a bonus.
he'll be fine.

Same, I haven't run add-ons on my Freddy since December, and I bought him in December because that's when he released on my platform (switch). For me most, add-on changes won't effect me and I'm not so worried about a decreased movement speed when placing a pool. Decreased amount of pools from 8 to 5? Okay, I only use like 3 if needed.
1 -
No, they were not. They were just small reinforcements.
1 -
I mean, they fixed him in the same sense that killer mains say that windows being blocked by the entity was a survivor fix. Either both are fixes, or both are nerfs. Cant have your biased ass put in double standards in the game.
"fixing genspeeds" would mean nerfing genspeeds.
1 -
Freddy was fine, he just needed the slow addons changed.
0 -
You watch too much tru3ta1ent.
9 -
There is a difference. If you fix something, that "something" was broken to begin with. Take Freddy and old Prayer Beads for example:
-Prayer beads used to be broken. It got changed. This is a "fix"
-Freddy is not broken. He is going to get some changes. This is a "nerf"
5 -
Blaming gen speeds for your loss is like when survivors blame tunneling for their loss.
6 -
"he's not broken"
I mean, strongest gen defense basekit and one of the strongest anti-chase basekits, let alone base counter to BT and other terror radius related perks. Let alone addons that on top of that already powerful basekit slowing down the game.
Yes, compared to the current balance, that's broken.
1 -
A true genrush happens one out of every 30 games. That's being generous.
2 -
So what this means is everyone that has freddy is gonna use him and all the add ons getting nerfed. Theres gonna be alot of freddy for the next month.
0 -
Usually has the opposite effect. People play nerfed characters more instead of less generally. Some folks like the challenge; others like playing characters that feel more fair; only a small percent are actually just looking for literally -every- advantage.
I am playing Trickster atm because I like how he sucks SO much that it's hilarious running certain loops.
5 -
Freddy is not going anywhere. He is still super strong and super easy. Oh no, you slow yourself down to 4m/s when it doesn't matter that you're 4m/s
3 -
No offense, but the nerfs most definitely do not fix him.
3 -
he got nerfed ,not fixed and yes, he will become a rare sight in matchmaking for sure
0 -
All of that and he’s still not viable against good survivors.... yet he is being nerfed.
2 -
If you honestly think you are TRULY being genrushed that often, the issue is you. Not everyone else, and not the game.
5 -
Freddy is honestly the one killer in the game who gets more hate than he deserves. He’s strong but was never OP since they nerfed his slowdown add ons
2 -
I never said he was OP. Over-tuned, though? Yes.
3 -
This literally isn't going to affect me. It's been so long since I ran a Forever Freddy build. I do think it's BS they're taking that away because gen speeds are still pretty fast with all the Perks and stuff to help boost repair speeds. It's kind of like how they took exhaustive bottles away from Clown. No reason to. But again, there's better builds to run on Freddy. Anybody worth their salt isn't going to be affected.

I don't think it'd be very ethical to ridicule Freddy like that, he had to endure 3 years of being utter garbage. If anything he should be allowed to remain strong for an equal duration to even out things, anything else would be bad karma.
1 -
Alright there bud. I've got 6k hours in the game, but apparently I know nothing.
Solid logic.
Sit. Stop blaming everything else for your problems.
5 -
Agreed I think it was the oblivious change that brought him over the edge. It wasn’t necessary at all imo
0 -
Freddy is still strong :) The snare "nerf" wont do anything and we don't need forever freddy to be OP
0 -
I hate to break it to you, but these nerfs do not "Fix" Freddy in the slightest. If anything, it proves the devs' ignorance to his actual problems.
2 -
All I wanted was to play Old Freddy again :(
4 -
To shut down strong loops. Spamming them in chase was something I never did anyhow as I traveled across the map right at beginning I could spot great places to put them (like trapper) to get quick hits later which is what they want to achieve with this change. I am more worried about the limit of 5 then the slowdown. Shack, cowtree, T/L, and pallets/vaults are all things that come to mind I have pre-placed for future chases and got downs from. The vaults/pallets are just so they get less distance while you break the pallet which I add with brutal. To OP considering you made a post like this I'm guessing after the nerf/change you will still be calling him OP while he sticks his glove in your back.

If you're not bringing the best addons and perks, sure, he is not viable against survivors who are bringing the best items and perks.
Tinkerer Ruin/BBQ Pop is enough on Freddy to slow down the game more than 90% of the other killers and his chase is in the top 5 killers in terms of strength. The reason Freddy is not viable against good survivors, is because everyone plays Freddy the lazy way. No one really presets traps, so they only rely on traps they set during chase. No one really teleports to gens to cut off survivor pathways, because they rather save their teleport to regress a gen with Ruin or Pop(which is a waste of his teleport).
I've never had issues facing good survivors. Heck, he's one of the killers I would grab if I found out I was facing tournament survivors and still get a 3k with(back when you could switch killers and if their old Ormond offering didnt reign supreme, otherwise it would be a 2k). Freddy is more than viable. Perhaps not against the top 10% of tournament players, but we're talking 0.01% players here that Freddy would not be viable against. Do you really want to balance killers around the 0.1% players who play tournaments?
DBD is not a tournament game. Balancing around tournaments does not make sense.

If you need his slowdown add on to win then maybe you should get gud. I haven't run those add ons in awhile. I swear every build Of freddy is always a forever freddy.
1 -
Isn’t Freddy easy mode for killers though? 🤔
0 -
Been playing trickster and honestly I'm having a good time with him. He remind me of doctor due to him having a good time in the match.
1 -
It's not surprising considering the amount of complaints he had and the devs being picky when it comes to using their stats. All he needed was for his slowdown add-ons to not stack.
1 -
Gen rushing lmao... What do u want the survivors to do? Stand around nearby waiting for you to finish a chase?
Run corrupt and get them on totems or doing something. If they're efficient there should almost always be 2 people trying to do gens.
Is a killer 'kill rushing' cuz they're obviously going to go straight for kills all the time?
Gen rushing is literally ONLY when people are hooked and the other team decide to do gens before friends.
Killer gets pressure by getting people through hook states, slugged and chased of gens.
Survivors get pressure by getting the gen count down. Both gen rush/kill rush cuz that's their objective.
2 -
The game should be balanced around those who are best at it. Scrubs who don’t want to learn don’t have a valid opinion on balance.
1 -
6k hours.
An ACTUAL genrush is not common. Any EXPERIENCED player knows this. Clearly that's not you.
2 -
When i read over his "nerf" i actually laughed this does nothing for good freddy apart from his slowdown add ons being gone. Freddy is still going to be a strong killer the snare nerf is funny asf as this is how a normal interaction with snares go
Survivor is at loop- freddy camp pallet- freddy place snare on one side where survivor is- places another on the other side- chase survivor around- hit or down
at what point does the movement decrease comes into play and its only on channeling which takes according to dbd wiki 0.75 seconds
So overall this nerf is nothing serious
1 -
The argument isn't "the survivors did their gens fast". It's "genrushing" The two are completely different.
Besides, if 2-3 gens are popping in first chase is THAT common for you, it's more you than the game. I rarely see that happen after 6k hours.
1 -
Most people complain about how boring he is to go against. There is not a lot of counterplay against Freddy that is in any way engaging. And he is very strong. Only the fewest people actually want an "easy" mode.
You might not want to believe this, but this killer sided forum is not fully representative of the general DBD community.
2 -
I hope you enjoy playing against spirit cause that's what always happens when a higher tier killer gets nerfed. For every nerf you ask for one killer your just pushing them to another meta killer. Then you will complain "All I see are spirits!"
1 -
I agree that Dream Pallets didn't need a nerf, but I would argue the immunity from falling asleep is the best change here. Now the clocks are more worth the time you spend getting to them. It's a nice little nerf that adds a bit more counterplay against Freddy.
However, if we really want to claim that 99% of survivor players are bad, then we can say the same about killers. Just look at all the posts of killer mains crying on this forum. There are still people that push the narrative that BHVR only cares for survivors, which at this point, is beyond stupid it's not even funny anymore. These people also seem to believe they are better than they actually are and blame the game for their losses.

I think this is like spirit nerf. It will matter very little to people who enjoy playing him and are good with him
The boosted Freddys may struggle more tho.
4 -
Which would be true, if the game was designed to be competitive, which it is not. The game is designed to be fun. Fun is chosen over balance.
1 -
Hadn't seen Freddy in red ranks for a while anyways tbh, it's a nerf but he is still a top tier m1 killer. I think they would have to rework him again entirely to make people stop seething and complaining. In a months time more nerf Freddy threads will crop up.
1 -
Totally agree, I think the really good Freddy's will still be fine
