Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Is trickster viable now?

Idk if it’s just me noticing this but I just had a match going against the trickster on the PTB and I noticed that my lacceration meter was going up pretty quickly, like really fast. I assumed he had the melodious murder add-on (green/rare) that makes it so you don’t have to throw that many blades to injure them but they weren’t. They were just running caged heart shoes (yellow/uncommon) and trick pouch (brown/common). I know the patch notes said this was intended but it’s pretty crazy lol.

Better but not good. The main problem is how easy it is to hide behind something and make him useless. Sure he can eventually throw enough knives to injure/down you but as a survivor your job isn't to win chases but prolong them as much as possible which is easy to do.

One thing ive noticed going against him (and it might be the inexperience with trickster) is how people let obvious m1's go in favor of getting some more knife throws. There are times they could've easily hurt me with a melee attack but end up getting looped for another minute because they wanted to get those last 2 knives instead.

He's so much better and feel great to play. Viable ? I don't know yet, probably not but he has potencial now if someone becomes really good with him. No good survivor players on PTB all games are really casual for me.

I still would like to see changes to main event to make it really strong and then I'd say he's perfect.

As someone who has played Trickster for at least 72+ hours on live servers so far. He wasn't ever bad, he is still a decent killer. By far the worse ranged killer though. You just have to play tiles correctly with him for him to be viable, but the problem always for me was recoil, and they mitigated that, so he is a ton more better now. I still personally think he needs to be bumped up to 115% keep his knives 8 to down or 7 to down with melodious murder and he is perfectly fine. No more changes besides that, and maybe giving a 30 second window for main event.

If you get survivors who run in straight lines every game he's viable. Main Event is still to situational & 8 knives is still too many at certain tiles. Objectively since there's still better killers to play he's still the worst killer.

Lol hes still useless then.. only rank 20 survivors run in straight lines. I hope they bring more changes for him when 4.7.0 comes live.

He's way better I still wish bounce was base but at least he had a power now maybe a few small buffs and main event rework and he is definitely viable

He's fun to play now imo, and that's all that really matters. You can do well with any killer at red ranks and he's no exception so at least he's in a playable state for now.

as long as he is 110 and takes 8 hits to down he never ever will be viable.

Yes, he is viable. He isn't as powerful as others, but all killers are viable.

His power never should have been given a pass, though. He is weak as far as killers go, so it's frustrating for the person playing him, but he's also pretty unfun to go against.

Meh, the majority of existing killers aren't fun to play against already, adding another one isn't gonna do much damage. As long as I can have fun playing as a killer I can put up with it as survivor because being "fun to play against" isn't really the main point of killers anyway.

Ricochet as base kit would mitigate the "ducking behind stuff" issue he has and inject some skill to learn the trajectory of bounces. I am disappointed they wouldn't at least try it in the PTB to see.

I'll prolly main him for a while, his playstyle has perked my interest and I'm a masochist so it works out. I think if he was 115% and could patrol the map easier he would be fine.

I played a match of Demo till I got an extreme headache and went to bed, so I wasn't really able to play the other Killers. The queues I expected them to be quite fast since it is a Midchapter PTB but no, I waited like 7 or 8 minutes.

So I still have to test the other stuff, but one thing I can say for sure, I fricking love the new Black Heart Add-on for Demo, combined with StBfL, it feels so nice.

No he's still weak as hell. Just watched one of Umbra's streams who is one of the best killers in the game imo and even she didn't stand a chance of stopping decent survivors from getting the gens done.

    Viable? Oh hell no.

This takes him out of meme tier; into worst killer in the game tier.

He's still really bad, I had a game I 4kd in on PTB I used his power ONCE all match. Basically just was a 110% killer using M1 and a bugged carry move speed.

It feels better to throw knives but Laceration still does nothing and still goes away so there’s no reason to get a few knife hits in where you can and then move on if the chase would take too long.

No point to knives if you can M1.

No point to knives if you will be able to catch up and eventually M1 before you can get all 8 knife hits.

No point to knives if it would take too long to get 8 hits or catch up and M1.

Theres just not much of a point to his knives.

hes not a meta killer, but now he stands a chance to get a 4k. id say hes D or C tier.

Even with the buffs it's still not enough to fix his major issues, also he still takes eight knives to damage a survivor and down. Main Event is still garbage to no surprise, and honestly should be used when you feel like using it the cooldown is incredibly stupid. Still don't see a reason why I'd play him over Huntress and DeathSlinger

This. I get pretty annoyed at how people play him because it's so inefficient. M1, then down with knives. It's not hard. Instead they just spam knives for both health states and while they are getting downs and hooks, it's at the cost of time and gens.

I also find PWYF a must run perk on him. But there's so many players that don't even understand how Myers' Perks work that I have no faith in the majority to do it right. I went against a guy running Dying Light that tunneled me, the obsession, to death before hooking anybody else.

Would it be possible to alleviate this issue by making him more Huntress-like? Up the laceration damage each knife does by a decent amount, but also reduce the rate of fire and cut his ammo?

Yeah, that's fair. It's an awkward situation to be in where the power is weak as-is, but improving it risks it being made overly miserable to play against, but I'm not entirely sure how to strike the proper balance.

Depends on what you mean by viable.

He can't deal with coordinated SWFs or just good SoloQ players, but he at least should be able to handle the average SoloQ team which was something he couldn't do before.

He's still the weakest killer, but at least he's not laughably bad.

Yes, he will be OP. Imagine being in the open with this dude, his knives are faster with movement speed and more accurate.

Nah a killer like trickster will never be viable at top level. He might do well with solos or low rank players but he will definitely have a hard time against decent players. He's 110% so no map pressure, he still needs to hit 8 shots, new maps have more safe pallets so looping him isn't gonna be hard and imo m1 is still stronger than his knives.
