Why can you reopen the hatch?
It's just a stupid mechanic.
I just had a game where a Claudette brought a key and I immediatly focused her and after 6 overall hooks and 1 killed survivor I had her killed in the basement. 4 gens were left. Then someone sneaked down there to retrieve the key so I notice Dwight with a Key this time so I focus him down. I let him bleed on the ground to look for the last remaining survivor. I managed to find him about 10 seconds before Dwight bleeds out and hit him once. He rans away and Dwight dies. The hatch spawns right next to me and I close it. In the meantime Ace took Dwights Key and began looping me around a really strong pallet. Eventually I had to break it and he runs towards the closed hatch and opens it with the key and escapes.
I don't want to discuss how stupid the hatch mechanic overall is or how broken keys are but this mechanic to REOPEN it, is just completly stupid.

It just needs to take about 5s to 'unlock' and it's fine. The most 'bullshit' hatch escapes are the ones mid-chase or when the killer is standing on top of it. That would solve those.

Keys and hatch are so broken right now it’s not even funny. I’ve had three matches where survivors have found a key in a chest and all three of the remaining survivors got out through hatch. I couldn’t close it or do anything cause they swarmed it and if they are on it or near it won’t allow you to close it.

They don't even need to bring a key. Every match there's a couple floating around from chests

Way I'd fix keys and hatch
1. Low chance of spawning in chests (like 5%)
2. Have a 10 second delay to open
3. Opens and closes on the survivor using key immediately
4. Make each key rarity look different in survivor hands as well
No other items effect a game nearly as much as keys do and they effect the entire team.

The issue is much worse right now because chest drops are seemingly bugged.
Key escapes are usually pretty rare but I wouldn't be opposed to some changes.

As long as killers can camp and tunnel as well as run things like noed then keys and reopening hatch need to exist. You can’t give one side toxic mechanics and not the other side

NOED usually only gets people an extra kill and is easily counterable. There is no counter to keys. Franklins Demise can knock it out of their hands but they can just come back and pick it up again. Keys and hatch also allow the whole team to use it and get away. NOED and keys aren’t comparable at all.

No one is calling it toxic, merely unbalanced. And saying slugging is toxic is like saying looping is toxic: its part of the game

Keys are broken mechanic like many other things on both sides and I don't think hatch reopening should be a thing it's cat and mouse game who finds the hatcj first if it's surv good well done but if it's killer and u close it hatch should disappear in my opinion surv still gets chance of opening one of the doors but it's not fair whatsoever for them to reopen something u found first
