Can we stop being so vindictive to the other side?
Something I've noticed with this forum is how one side, Either Killer or Survivor, will use the other sides name like a god-damned insults. So many times I've read "It's because killer/survivor mains are Insert insult here!"
Never before have I seen so much malice in the words "killer/survior main." Like it's a damn slur or something. And it's ten times worse with the word SWF. Like Jesus, calm down. I've already posted about how this community has a gigantic lack of empathy (or, at least the biased parts of them do), so I won't go too into it but it feels like it's just getting worse and worse. People just straight up refuse to look at things from both sides.
It's either Killer, or it's Survivor. Black or White. The dev's cater to Killers! No, they cater to Survivors! Killer is too easy, Survivor is too easy! I don't think the issues with the game are nearly that simple. We just need to calm down and have actual discussions- But asking that on this forum is like asking BHVR to make meaningful buffs to Solo Queue or to not shove in breakable walls in just the worst way.

But how else are we gonna get free entertainment? The forums would be so boring without it.

You've got a good point. This forum has given me some pretty good laughs.

People need to understand that this community is a family.
Yes, we are a family. A divided, complicated and weird family, but a family nonetheless. And that is what truly matters.
Edit: So, please stop being so aggressive and enjoy your trials!

I mean i just laugh because im a pure 50/50 and i never talk crap on people for their occupation. Doesn't matter if your a killer or survivor what matters is your views for me. But if you do just call someone a "filthy killer main" or "filthy survivor main" im not gonna take you seriously.

Killer main here.
Do I hate Survivor mains? no, I need 4 survivors to have a single match. The issues in this game are not about survivor vs. killer, it's an issue of balance and player toxicity.
Killer side you have 4 perk slots to work with, survivors have 16 slots divided between them. Perk balance is very touchy because of this.
And then there's the toxicity. Survivors t-bagging at pallets, windows, and in the exit areas. Chaining stuns on killers (1 or 2 isn't toxic, but I've had a 4 man flash bully squad keep me stun locked for almost 4 min between head-on, flashlights, and it started with a DS pre-nerf, reviewed my footage and they were unhooked 59.372 seconds before I got stunned). Killers face-camping, hitting on hook multiple times (I'll hit once on hook to silence the scream so I can try to hear other survivors in the area, since it cuts off the scream).
The problems in this game are 50% BHVR needing to balance and 50% players being bungholes to eachother.

What if I play both 50/50 and ######### talk both sides equally?

ya'll main killers or survivors
I main fire barrels

I agree completely. We need to stop being so divided. Regardless of whatever side people like.
Also can we talk about the community making extremely hasty generalizations? A bad thing happened to a person and now everyone is a terrible person even the ones who aren't bad. It's so annoying to be lump into the "all survivors mains are toxic" stereotype.

I don't talk down to console players but I have noticed the difference in quality. I've had good matches with console players that made me go 'These were good players/teammates' but I've had far more bad ones where I get to the end-game lobby and I'm like 'ahhh, of course.' I'm not saying every console player is bad, but most of my experience with them is. So do I think they are worse? No, but I'm certainly not surprised if I get a bad match, all 3 teammates either get hooked, kill themselves on first hook, D/C, dive bomb, run killer around gens/hooked survivor, and then get to end-game lobby and see they're red/purple ranked consoles.
I've never gone out of my way to talk down to anyone on this game, but of course I have my own experiences that I base my opinion on. Again, I've been around good console players too. The bad just outweighs the good.

Don't fight otherwise Professor Chaos wins

But how else can I cope with my losses without blaming the other side for playing too good?

For real though, people forget to consider how the other side feels (not just I'm this game but kinda life in general). We by nature are self protective and have a victim mentality and neglect to consider the other person. It's a shame.
Obviously I'm a counselor lol

This person's light years ahead of us.

Honestly, that's better than just playing one side and never seeing it from the other. At least you can judge from both sides. #########-talking or not.

Its rare you get both sides uniting under a common cause but when they do its interesting. Mainly when the ui came out.

I’ve never noticed this, but if I had, I bet it was the survivors fault...

Blame yourself or the game :)
0 -
We all know I can’t do that! I play perfectly every match :)
1 -
I do that most of the time.
I only get mad at survivors that deserve it. If you suck, you deserve to get punished for it. And I am more than willing to dish out that punishment.

We all do ;)

for as long as SWF is a thing I will always hate survivors

I tried to be fair and nice to survivors as a killer main in the forums.... What should I say? It didn't worked out and I drowned into thoughtless 1-liner comments of the survivors until I accepted that there is a "us vs. them mentality" and the only way to stand against those mindless comments, was to pick a side.
I bet the same counts also for survivor mains tbh. Can't imagine that they haven't saw the same, just vice versa.
If the people really like to see a change in this behavior by me and many other users, then they should stay away from those stupid 1-liners and also learn to accept others opinions, especially if killer mains talk about killer things, or survivor mains talk about survivor things, since mains know usually their side best.
If someone is not ok with this and prefers to go still down this road - it is ok for me, since - as said already before - I have pick my side.

We can't stop it, but we can try to. And I'll gladly contribute to that by believing both sides are equal. 🙂

Dude, I wish.
But this isn't a videogame and it's actually real life apparently, so.

No. Rancor begets rancor, so once you get stuck in the cycle of one jackass being stupid online, you can't stop it. Resign yourself to fate and just watch as people grow dumber and dumber and angrier and angrier.

That sounds depressing.

Anger is a strong emotion that allows people to override sense. This is why I often tell people to know their mental state and not play if they can't handle it. What I guess I should say instead is "never play angry" or "never play on tilt". If you feel yourself getting contemptuous of the other side, it's time to stop playing. It's hard.... it's REALLY HARD. I mean, often times when you see my own posts get a bit dripping with Rancor and venom at night, it's because I'm waiting in a Q and my attitude is starting to slip because of the stupid crap I see in game. I find myself a victim of not following the rules I ask others to follow and feel like a massive hypocrite. (I need to just stay off these forums when I'm actually playing)
We as a species are so wired for rampant tribalism I fear it may doom us to destroy ourselves eventually.

If those who do simply started saying "Why do some survivors/killers do...", instead of "Why do survivors/killers do...", then it can depersonalise it a bit, which in turn leads to a debate, rather than a debacle. It's about dealing in facts and using the correct words.
At the same time, some people vent because they just want to feel heard. Instead of some attacking them, it's best to figure out why they're upset and empathise. People react better when someone empathises, even if they do not agree.
Finally, a minority are just dicks and make these posts just to rile up the masses and pretend they're some sort of puppet master. You'll never change them, but ignoring those has an impact. Nobody likes to be ignored.
To sum up, empathy and language is key. Elitism over something as petty as pixels moving on a screen or how someone presses a different type of button is as pathetic as it sounds.

I get sick of smarmy elitist comments like maps being ruined or killers being unfairly buffed "because of the survivor mains". I see complaints leveled at the killers as well, but not as much of them.
I find it stupid that so many people have so much animosity for their opponents in this game. It isn't a war, it's a ######### video game. There's no reason why someone can't express their frustration about perceived imbalance without using it as the millionth excuse to trash the side that you don't like as much. It's childish.
