Noed- You only hurt yourself.
As a player of both sides, I am convinced that NOED is a perfectly fine perk. More often than not, it only grants the killer one free down if survivors play smart.
That's where the keyword comes into play "smart".
Bad survivors will push for saves/risky hex cleanses while NOED is active. The right play is usually to leave the one player. They "can't escape death" per say
.
One rich example I had recently was a game where I played as twins. This was my second game as twins, I ran NOED with the three twins perks. Played against a couple red and purple ranks, map was the pale rose.
I was just testing out victor for the most part, only playing half serious. I got looped at the big shack for ages and managed to get 1 down/hook in basement just after the last gen went off. NOED was visible/active.
1 by 1 the other 3 survivors came to the rescue of the basement hooked survivor, and 1 by 1 they each got placed it the basement themselves.
After the game I got flamed in the comments for using NOED, and "camping" basement.
But truly, they did it to themselves. They could've left me with one hook?
Sure NOED sucks to get hit by in some circumstances, but more often than not, it's power can be mostly avoided.
PSA-if NOED is up, probably best to just leave. Cut your losses so to speak.

NOED's problem is that it lets bad killers get free killers Which is unfair I would rework NOED NOT nerf it Wanna hear what i thought about?

I think a somewhat valid argument could be made that only bad survivors get killed by NOED. That's obviously not a one size fits all statement though.
Sure, what's your thoughts on a redesign.
I myself think the same perk, with a revealed exposed indicator upon gen finish is all it needs.

So survivors should just give up and do nothing because of one perk.
2 -
How did you get "survivors should give up" from "survivors should play smart"
10 -
I mean yeah I had a match in gideon where NOED was in play, two survivors were slugged and the third survivor 99'd a gate and tried to save someone but it didn't work so everyone died. I'm sorry but if you take that risk and fail that's the survivors fault for not leaving. If NOED is in play that means it's time to get out. I died before endgame btw.
3 -
survivors should not be greedy for 4 escapes and let go of one of them.
6 -
yes
7 -
I feel that it rewards bad killers with free kills. I think survivors shouldn’t be punished for trying to be altruistic.

Escaping to survive (the main objective of a "survivor") is not giving up and doing nothing. You just need to play smart based off the scenario.
In my example people were running into big shack basement while a NOED killer was nearby. That is not the smart decision.
3 -
This man understands.

The counterpoint here is that not all altruistic plays are good plays. Bad plays should be punished.
A rescue with a NOED killer near hook is a bad play and is punished via getting downed with NOED.
3 -
You could use the same argument against survivors second chance perks. You get away with actions you normally wouldn't/shouldn't.
5 -
NOED gets me one kill during endgame, which I usually get anyway. The problem is, with NOED the other survivors usually just GTFO without trying to save, without it I can often turn my endgame hook into more.
1 -
Right, it's entirely plausible to say NOED is bad for killer in some ways. Further pushing (imo) that it definitely doesn't need a nerf.
2 -
Because you're saying that if someone gets unfortunately noed'd. That everyone should just go and leave?
They're your team, and it's your job to try and help it.
I agree sometimes if I get noed'd I just tell my swf to just go and let them get the 1k.
But several times has someone come to save me or save someone else and we've all escaped whilst noed was still active.
So I'm not saying don't do this, because it is a smart desicions. But then again if everyone played well and you were noed'd wouldn't you want your team to at least try?
1 -
I dont think it needs a nerf at all, it just need to be reworked the slightest bit.
When all the gens are done, noed activates and everyone becomes exposed.
The exact same effect as rancor does.
The obsession actually knows that they're exposed and must play carefully.
Do you see rancor being a Trash perk? Not at all. The amount of people I've killed with rancor is amazing. Notifying everyone that they have the perk dosnt mean you get no value, it just means that survivors can actually plan. Instead of just getting downed whilst going to open a gate and they're now dead on hook...
People keep comparing noed to DS this and DS that. But what you should already know is the game hints at you if there is a DS in play by the obsession symbol being around someone's name.
And if there's no obsession then killers are free to tunnel and do whatever without any fear of a DS.
Which makes noed slightly unfair as how come killers get a slight heads up of a perk but survivors don't.
If noed isn't allowed to tell you it's there until when you're already downed. Then DS shouldn't have to show an obsession symbol in the game until you get DS'd.
Argue all you want but that seems fair to me

NOED is perfectly fine as it is. Mostly because it really isnt that hard to cleanse all of the totems in most maps, and the fact it is a powerful perk that can give you absolutely no value, just like adrenaline if the exit gates are never powered.
If a killer want to camp a hook that is fine. If NOED is in play then survivors should focus on totems more often when they play and not cry when they caused their own losses. Leaving a single hooked survivor is an entirely valid option, but some survivors just have to try so hard to deny the killer as much as possible, only to end up giving them even more.
NOED punishes survivors that try too hard when it comes to risky saves. I cant tell you how many times a killer has gotten multiple kills just because my teammates try so hard to defy the killer points.
Survivors have no one but themselves to blame when it comes to this perk. They control how many totems they cleanse, if they just want to rush generators and not do anything else it is their own fault.
2 -
NOED is a bad, unfair perk because it's just a free kill perk and nothing else. That is it's purpose: get a pity kill. It's a perk that turns every killer into a facecamping Bubba.
1 -
Yeah, but like I said it is a perk controlled entirely by the survivors. Cleanse totems or suffer the risks of not doing so.
0 -
It's better for the killer to waste time cleansing totems, because that's a free 4k agasint any team that isn't a co-ordinated swf.
0 -
Or punishes bad survivors for rushing gens and ignoring bones.
Works both ways.

In reference to perks hinting at what they are, rancor reveals aura of killer after each gen which is an early sign. Perhaps NOED could have some hint to tip off early on but keep the same mechanic?
In regards to end game you can technically see NOED coming to a degree. I get a sharp thrill when I notice the killer walking faster than usual. It's one of the few moments in the game where I fear the killers presence, and I think that feeling should occur more often.
0 -
I disagree with this mentality to some degree. Your fellow survivors are a tool in a sense. A means to an end. You need them to get all gens done and rescue you early on. But once escape is possible, I feel it's every man for themselves.
Forfeiting your chance to survive in the end game to rescue someone else (ignoring your final objective of survival) should hold some pretty high risk, and overall should probably be discouraged imo.

This rebuttal seems to hold no useful dialogue. Perhaps try to fit the context of the actual discussion at hand. It's not so much what NOED does for killer, but how survivors play around NOED.
1 -
Im a trapper main. One thing that killer teaches you is sometimes you need to cut your losses. Theres a point where attempting a rescue just adds to the body count.
0 -
Exactly!
Dead Hard rewards you for failing in your chases, which you shouldn't. Then with a button, you can ignore that. NOED is even worse than DH because it can only be used in end game, while DH can be used at any time.

To be honest, at a certain point in the game, just running out the gates isn't thrilling anymore. So people risk the NOED 4k for the thrill of saving/attempting to save their friends. I wouldn't say this is dumb, just a calculated risk to break the monotony of a boring game. I mean if all you did that game was sit on a gens while the killer applied little pressure, then why not try?
Now, getting angry if it ends in a 4k is just silly. In that case, with that attitude, they should just run out the door.
0 -
Precisely, regarding the need for a thrill, that's more an issue of the base games mechanics. Survivors should be involved in more than just gens.
1 -
the best way to use Noed is pretend you dont have it
0 -
Would say that's suicide to be fair. 😳
1 -
Rushing gens? That take almost 80 to 90 seconds to fix 😂 almost a min and half to do one alone! ... how could that possibly go any slower... I mean really how? 🙈
0 -
Baby noed 😂😂
0 -
Well then there you go. That's how you think and play which it totally fine.
On the other hand, I like playing for the teams sake and would rather help my team than myself.

Just like real life , not everything works out and sometimes you gotta just cut and run. Gotta know when to hold em, know when to fold em, know when to walk away...know when to run.
