Play dbd on the switch without a nintendo switch online subscription
Why can't the devs make the game playable without a nso subscription like fortnite (first game that came to mind) does?

I didn’t even know Fortnite doesn’t require an online subscription? (Not that I really care because I don’t play it)
but is this something they had from the beginning or did they change it later on?

Fortnite- F2P, no subscription needed
Paladins- F2P, no subscription needed
Minecraft- costs money, subscription needed
DBD- costs money, subscription needed
Notice a pattern?

As far as i know only F2P online games can be played without a subscription because that would defeat the purpose of making them F2P. That happens on other consoles as well, not only on Switch.

Yeha, but it's stupid paying the game and HAVING TO PAY TO PLAY IT MONTHLY lolz

yupp, free to play games doesn't require a subscription, paid games tho. This is stupid

Yup, I do, a really stupid and anti-consumer pattern

I agree it’s stupid. But I don’t think BHVR can really do something in this regard as it’s Nintendo‘s platform and they probably designed it this way.

Write a letter to Nintendo, it's their call not Behaviours.

the online subscription that are enforced on console is a scam

I mean, it would be nice to know if you could still get the game playable or at least get into the menu without the subscription.
And tbh, free games can be played but not paid games? it would be good to know if it's something that nintendo chooses or bhvr does

It genuinely is. The monsters know they can make a hefty chunk of cash by just exploiting their own customers. It's really disgusting but I suppose predatory monetary schemes is nothing new, especially in this industry.

The only games that I know of with an online service that doesn't need a NSO subscription is Just Dance 2018-2021, and that's because they have their own subscription service in the form of Just Dance Unlimited. Take it up with Nintendo.

Here's a challenge. Host a Minecraft server. Post about it, get people to join, but don't charge anything to play on it. See how long you can keep that Minecraft server up with no additional income to maintain it.
Now multiple that by millions. There's your reason online play has a subscription. (It's really not even that much... $20 for a year which is $1.60 a month. Or $35 for a family plan that allows 8 players on it. Which is $0.36 a month per person...)
And for PS+ and Xbox Gold, don't forget about the thousands of dollars of free games they give out each year to everyone.

Don't forget that consoles are sold at a loss and company need to earn their money elsewhere.

NSO supports other games too (Splatoon2, Pokemon) and you get the classic games too. Its not that expensive tbh.
And you don't have to buy a rift pass on Switch.

then why pc version are completely subscriptionless?
they would have done that there too, so, i'm not paying 20 bucks a year to use basic functions on my system

This is a whole other can of worms that I feel is unrelated to DBD and more like DBD is a victim of this business practice. Whether or not people agree with the paid online system that consoles have, it exists and is unfortunately something we must endure. If it were BHVR's call I'd imagine such wouldn't be the case, but it is not and it's not like they see any form of profit from said online subscriptions.

I understand that they finally didn't do something stupid, but still, a petition or something would be great
