HOW DO YOU COUNTER THIS?
So it's endgame. Killer knew hatch location and B lined right to it before 3rd survivors death animation ended to deny hatch. It's a trapper and both exit gates are already trapped.
If you try to do exit gate your dead. If you defuse trap he knows which door your at and you need to leave because you have no chance at opening the door before the killer gets to you.
The killer resets the trap and repeats this process until he either finds you or you die.
How to counter this situation? Is it possible or is this endgame strat just broken gaurenteeing the 4th kill for free?
Thoughts?

Bring a key and escape through the hatch. :)

You could get to the hatch before he does, or take a key. Or if the exit gates are far enough away from each other, disable one trap and immediately run to the other gate and you’ll probably get it open before he gets to you.

Hope you can find a key.
Not every situation needs a viable counter. The survivor is not meant to have the advantage in that kind of endgame situation. The fact that the gates get powered when the hatch is closed is already a big step up in the survivor's court.

During the match I usually do quick checks at doors while going between gens/unhooks because alot of trapper's will out down those two traps around 2 gens left - disarming will distract Trapper from gens. If I know they're in chase with last survivor who is on death hook I'll go disarm the traps while they're in chase - Trapper will then need to decide to commit to chase or go back and reset the traps, same for deciding to hook remaining survivor or retrap gates first.

If the killer knows the hatch location. It isn't a race it's killers choice. And you can't always bring a key into every single match for the few times this happens. Also that tactic won't work cause the other gate is trapped to that's the issue.

I Agree the game needs to be hard but hard doesn't mean impossible. This situation may just be very hard at which point its fair and I'm wondering what the counter is but it doesn't seem like this is a hard situation but instead an impossible one and impossible isn't fair. My experience with this was also after we got all 5 gens so it wasn't free power.

Bringing a key would solve that problem.. to bad I'm not going to always have a key incase this happens

You dont, the killer knew where the hatch was first, you lost your BHVR freebie, your 2nd one shouldn't be fair

Well if the killer knows the hatch location and you don’t, fair play to the killer.
If you know the hatch location you can get there before the killer because he has to hook the other survivor first.
If you don’t bring a key try to find one in a chest.
You can still disable the other trap and probably make it out before he gets to you if you’re quick enough on the draw. Gates need to have good spawns for you though. Worst case scenario it’s stealth, rinse & repeat and hope for the best. One of you will mess up with their timing and to the victor go the spoils.
As someone else said, the killer has the advantage in this end game scenario, and rightfully so tbh. You shouldn’t expect to be able to escape all the time unless you have a key, which is a free win in the vast majority of situations.

Ok lets look at it from this angle:
Your team failed to complete the generators in time.
You failed in racing the killer to the hatch/scouting out where the hatch was.
So I have to ask these questions:
Why should your 3rd chance after failing both you're main objective and your 2nd chance to win via hatch be easy?
How many times must the killer successfully stop your objectives until you admit the killer has earned their advantage in your absolute last chance?

What if you did 5 gens. I agree hatch is a free escape I don't complain about killers having the advantage on closing it. But this strategy I'm suggesting isn't something that makes escaping hard it seems to make it impossible which isn't fair. In other words the killer shouldn't have a freebie either cause this basically gives the killer his 4th kill free.

That's an unwinnable scenario that your team could have complely avoided being in in the first place because... Well, it's Trapper. Arguably the weakest killer in the game. Who relies entirely on survivors making massive mistakes.

You counter that by winning the first time around, rather than getting your ass handed to you and hoping to get an escape anyways.

It's not broken, you already lost.

It's not impossible, the killer could make a mistake & look around for you if you closed one the traps giving you enough time to open the other gate. I had this happen on lery's & I managed to escape.
Because you're on limited time it may seem impossible, but it's just another case of having to outplay the killer.

This.
Plus Trapper has already a very weak early game. At least he can be more powerful in endgame.
