New SWF Trick/Exploit
I am always impressed by the inventiveness of "some" SWF groups. I've now run across two different groups who have a trick for avoiding maps they don't like. If they load into a map they don't like, one of them disconnects in time to cancel the match. Naturally, that one will take the (5) minute ban. Next time they get a map they don't like, a different member does it and so on, round and round she goes.
Because the chances of getting one of the disliked maps isn't that great, the number of disconnects each one takes isn't enough for the Ban to build up beyond 5 minutes. Interesting scam? If this ever becomes commonplace, I would hope the Bans start applying to the ENTIRE SWF who joined together from a Lobby.

this feels like a really weird way to get the map you want without just using a map offering. like... the game lets you pick your map, lol.
i guess just keep in mind which map you get sent to against which people and make a map offering to purposefully go there. if this is a legit exploit they're doing, the match will get cancelled and you'll get the offering back. if it was accidental then it won't happen again. if it's purposeful then just keep doing it, make them waste a whole bunch of time and get a whole bunch of bans inbetween queues until they stop.

uuuuuuh idk which kind of free trash are you throwing to SWF out of nowhere, when you load into a match and the map is revealed there's no way to cancel it, if someone DCs then the other 3 survivors have to play anyways

Maybe they mean if the killer burns a map offering and they DC while the match is loading but then again I am pretty sure you dont get teh penalty for it.
1 -
he said "if they load into a map they dont like" so he means when the match has loaded, and in the scenario you are talking about, the penalty is given too

I am willing to admit before moris were reworked I used to cancel mori matches by just ending the process in taskmanager and never got a penalty. Also if one member in a SWF has a DC penalty doesn't the whole SWF have to wait the 5 min before the DCer can ready. I never played in a SWF except in a duo with my friend onceor twice and we never DC(except for old moris cause ######### them) so idk.

This sounds like a really bad idea someone had and their friends told them about map offerings so they didn't go along with it. But the idea guy still thought he was smart asf so he made a post for his idea seeking some kind of confirmation.

by experience, I can say you get the penalty, and the fact that you first say "I'm pretty sure" but then you put a case in this comment where you say you're 100% sure it doesnt happen just make me think u didn't do that

If they disconnect due to map offerings, that's not a swf thing. I've seen it done during solo q by survivors an killers alike.
If you mean once the match is loaded, then a DC is to late to cancel the trial.

Readed the title and tought "this is going to be a good one" and I wasnt displeased.
Im sorry but your post seems a bit fishy, actually extremely fishy, lets see how DC during game works ONCE the trial has started.
- Lobby gets ready by all, loading bars appear on every player computer/console (in this stage you can DC and send everyone to the lobby without a penalty).
- Offerings are flipped.
- All loading bars complete (after this point you cant DC and send everyone to the lobby).
- Map loads and camera starts moving around your character (penalties are enabled by now).
- ~3 seconds later match starts.
- Someone DCs and gets a penalty.
- The other 3 either DC and get penalties too or they have to play the map they hate as 3 instead of 4.
Care to explain how they avoid the map they dont like? 3 people are ingame without posibility of dcing without penalty and have to play the map massively impaired, the only one that avoids the map is one person, this actually benefits the Killer against those pesky SWF™.
P.D. unless they have somehow, managed to find a way to send you to the lobby after DCing once the match has already started Im not buying this story.

OP is the example of "when you never played survivor but you still have to ask for no-sense survivor nerfs"
6 -
Really? Ive had games where im entering chase like a minute into the match and someone dcs and the game cancels.

Thats the server crashing, once the game starts if someone DCs nobody is sent to the lobby except the DCer, the rest remain in the trial.
Im betting your case the server crashed and everyone was kicked out, that guy showed as DC maybe because he got kicked out 1 second faster than you.

When I had a regular swf we would play map roulette, everyone brings a map offering and one person brings a map everyone hates so it's a gamble, we'd get crap or a map we enjoy and no matter what it's one we all chose.

This can happen when someone DCed in the Loading Screen and the game did not realize it. So the game starts as normal and at some point, it gets cancelled, because of the DCed person.

I have had some weird SWF things happen to me to.
Lately I join a lobby and see a SWF group all with matching names and keys, and cosmetics sometimes (I run into them daily, sometimes 2-4 times in a row). And what they do is just wait until the countdown and then leave, it is really weird.

That is a good question and I wish I knew the answer. I do, however, have it recorded (including my conversations with the people afterwards). I'm turning it in of course. I don't post things that don't happen. I've had people tell me that there are ways to do it based on timing of the disconnect, but since I don't do these things myself, I'm not really party or interested in the details of how they do it, I just know they are doing it.

They were trolling. I mean, you can test it yourself (no, really don't do it unless you're in a 4-man and they know what's going on). Just DC as soon as the camera starts panning out and go spectate. You'll see that the trial goes on 3v1. And before that point there's no way of knowing what map will be rolled out unless an offering is used.
3 -
I don't think that works if you have a four man team and one disconnects and Getz the penalty then they all have to wait for the 5 min or play without the first guy
3 -
That's not the trick. Of course they all have to wait for their teammate who took the 5 minute ban. What they are avoiding by cycling who disconnects is the Ban ever getting larger for one of them in particular.

People don't realize you can just close your client in the loading screen. Voila, the game doesn't stop because it start with 3 survivor.
0 -
But then they can at most do that 4 times becuase when it cycles back to the first one wouldbt his ban time jump up for the second offense?

It is a tactical exploit. Think about it this way, the maps Survivors truly hate number pretty small. They don't come up that often. So if you cycle who takes the DC for the team, you have four people to disperse the occasional bad maps. They get plenty of maps in between the ones they don't like so by the time it comes back around to the first DCer... it is just a five minute ban again.
It isn't something that is happening every match. It isn't being used to try and get a specific map. It is to say "hell no" to the odd map the SWF gets now and then that they do not want.

Just like @Friendly_Blendette I used to disconnect in the loading screen when the killer brought a secret offering and I never got a penalty for it so I can confirm their story.
I haven't done this since they changed the moris though, so it is possible that the Devs have changed the system in the mean time but I haven't seen that mentioned in the Patch Notes.

Uhm that isn't how it works. If someone DCs once the map has loaded - the other survivors either have to DC to leave - die - or escape.
Even if this worked - not sure I know many SWFs who would wanna sit around and wait 5 mins more between matches - because of the map offering. It's not like experienced players don't have a ton of map offerings lol.

Fair enough, I'm curious what maps do you guys hate as survivors. For me I just don't like the meat plant or the silent hill school maps

As a Survivor (just as a Killer) I play whatever map I pull. I rarely even put a map offering in for my Spooky Myers anymore. But to answer your question, I seem to see the disconnect or failure to launch the match on Hawkins, Midwich, Gideon, and Lerys the most often. It seems "some" Survivors just won't take on a challenge.

I've had matches get cancelled mid-way through because "Someone disconnected during loading".
Usually it happens right after the initial camera spin, or a few seconds into the match (Usually you see their icon change to a DC as the screen fades out), but the latest I've ever seen it happen was about a minute and a half into the match, while the guy who "Failed to load in" was in the match and not AFK. He DC'd right after I downed him.
I'm not sure if they actually really do get DC'd during loading and it takes the game to start to kick everyone out or what but that one time I had someone clearly load in, and DC to cancel the match.

I would like footage of this you're assuming, because it looks more like what @Aven_Fallen said, server crashed for someone while loading match and the match didnt cancel until seconds later when the server received the DC report, so then the one who DCed isnt the one you're downing because that player made it to the match load
