I tried removing whispers from my main build
I feel completely lost without it, it's incredible what a crutch perk it is for me
Need those voices in my head

Such a good perk. People will complain about BBQ for some odd reason; meanwhile, I'm getting all my info from Whispers and forgot I'm even running BBQ...

In the end i removed shadowborn because I really wanted whispers but wanted to try out new stuff. It wasn't that bad
I felt slower, but it made me realize a few helpful things

I play Doctor with Whispers. I rarely waste a static blast.

I used to play whispers, but Iron Maiden complements Static Blast so well, and the occasional exposed hits are juicy.

Whispers is a great, if not the best, locating perk i don't think its crutch. I mean loon at the options.
BBQ: you have to find survivors and hook them to make use if it.
Discordance: how often does it happen that this perk won't go off.
Ruin + Surveillance: this is okay if ruin isn't broken
Spies from the Shadows: Urban Evasion lol
Doctor Static Blast: Goes off and nothing happens. Are they hiding? Are they running Calm Spirit? Have to wait 60s now.
Tinkerer: gen is at 70% all the way across the map
Bitter Murmur: you gain info at the cost if a gen
Scratched Mirror Myers: Slow boy with no lunge lol
Undying: 4 totems spread throughout the whole match to reveal location on the off chance they appear.
I mean seriously, the options are bare. Whispers is consistent and methodical. I think it should be basekit for killers tbh.

Yeah I'm thinking of pairing iron maiden in there since it got buffed (don't have it unlocked yet and am working on Undying rn).
My current build is BBQ/Corrupt Intervention/Whispers/Surge for Doctor.
I'm thinking of dropping BBQ for Iron Maiden or Starstruck. I like playing really aggressive with Doctor lol

It is! I've found survivors hiding in lockers since Whispers was going off, but Static Blast hit nothing. It could be Calm Spirit, but most time its locker lol
Static Blast cooldown is too long. Shock Therapy is great but doesn't do damage (unless you count migraines for survivors!)
Clown gets 3s for bottles, Bubba and Nurse replenishes charges quickly. You only get 8-10 static blast per match. Missing one with no early game pressure will result in gens flying. Whispers helps alleviate that issue. Id rather wait and guarantee hits than waste one of Doctor's best attributes.

I was just finished getting P3 on Doc so my build is kinda random, but take a look at Archdruid_Drey/Dreyalgia's content. Their most common build is STBFL/BBQ/Surge/Iron Maiden and another one that I never used but is intriguing is Mad Grit/STBFL/Agitation/Forced Penance.

Just about no one can catch survivors if they're good at being immersed, but if you're having issues finding survivors at the start of the match, there's a trick. Either it's one of the weird maps where survivors spawn right next to you (I've unironically get this in some of the Macmillan and Autohaven maps consistently), or they're typically diagonally from whatever wall you're closest to. Look around periodically for crows.
Also, protip, if you're playing a killers with a timer-based power like Plague, Myers, Oni, you might consider keeping whispers so that you don't whiff your power.

I don't have issues finding survivors, I think I just got used to the background "noise" that whispers give. I really felt empty without it 😆

Shhhh brother, don't make survivors realise it's the best tracking perk when used properly.

I feel like Whispers is only useful at the start and in a 1v1 situation, during the game it's quite useless. But it's only me ^^
But i get how you feel : i felt like that the first time i unequipped Window of Opportunity or Bond ahah
