Solo, not as bad as I hear
I basically play exclusively killer unless a friend or 2 want to swf with me
I got bored today decided to play some dwight and I dont get why people say solo is so bad it was a fun experience not knowing anything I was genuinely nervous and almost crawled across the map to hatch my most fun games have been solo so idk why it's so bad
Edit may 3rd this is semi bait I never said solo cant be bad

Trust me, it's miserable.
Solo is miserable, since your teammates have the combined IQ of a venus fly trap, else they are a SWF intent of screwing with you.
Killer is miserable, you get mentally and emotionally pressured every game. Oft times, in the post-game, you will also get abuse hurled at you because you dared to win.
SWF is fun, since you have 3 other people backing you up, and nothing ever feels like it's your fault.

You haven’t experienced the killer “survivors” yet. The amount of survivors I’ve seen team with the killer is insane. You’re honestly fending for yourself, even against the other survivors in the match. This is very common in red ranks because everyone cares sooo much about their pips.

Solo is a mixed bag. Some games are pretty fun. Some games you get hard tunneled out of existence because a fellow survivor unhooks without BT and immediately activates their stealth camouflage. Other games, you don't make it a foot away from the hook because you got farmed without BT. Other games, you run the killer for 5 minutes, then as you go down, you see the 3 yellow auras of your teammates hiding behind a bush in the corner of the map
If you're seeing the pattern, usually solo isn't miserable because of the killer. It's usually miserable because of the teammates. I'd love for SWF/Solo/Killer to be balanced equally, and I do think SWF is currently a bit busted, but I do also understand why people would want to play SWF when solo can be a bit maddening

Depends what rank you're playing at. I bounce between purple/red rank solos, and while my teammates usually aren't suicidally stupid, the killer nearly always stomps just because we're not playing efficiently and there's little coordination. There's also a lot of ragequitters that kill any chance of getting out through the exit gates when they decide getting downed at 5 gens was too much of an insult to bear.
Different ranks have different issues. Grey ranks, everyone's clueless and it's great fun, though you also get a lot of survivor mains trying out killer for the first time and they don't actually want to attack anyone, just meme. Yellow ranks have tons of survivors killing themselves on their first hook for no reason and afk killers using macros to farm iri shards, but the matches themselves are fun and pretty balanced - same with green ranks, but less AFK killers. Purple is when things start to get wildly killer-sided for solos, at least in my experience. The killers are getting good at what they do and the room for survivor error drops, but between random teammates and just not knowing what's going on across the map, plenty of error is still happening. If at least two of the four players can run a killer well, you're in a good spot, otherwise you're probably dead. Red... isn't that much different? Rank 1s will usually know what they're doing, but you can get to rank 4 just by not being a potato and doing objectives. Teammates aren't urban evading to your hook from across the map anymore, but they still go down ten seconds into a chase. And you also get teammates that have learned how to maximize their emblems off the blood of their allies, and will race past your more conscientious teammates to unhook you in the killer's face and then run the hell away, or run the killer into you so they can do your gen and unhook you later. They'll cleanse dull totems when all four of the killer's perks are accounted for and they will absolutely let you die for bloodpoints.

You can have a genuinely fun experience in SQ, the issue lies on how many miserable ones you get.

I was expecting this to be a joke thread.
"Solo, not as bad as I hear.........It's worse"

Yeah, I've always enjoyed solo as well. It's more challenging, sure - but still less stressful than killer in my opinion. I don't mind losing (I usually expect to) as long as the match was fun. I feel more like I beat the odds when I escape in solo, and that's what makes it rewarding to me
4 -
Rank 3 average granted I do think they should do something for solo but idk what
1 -
You've simply had a lucky break. Play some more solo games, maybe equip bond if you want a laugh. You'll get some absolute potatoe gems and wonder if humanity is worthy of space travel.
4 -
Shhhhh I will leave it to the people to decide if its bait lol
mb I'm just so used to the killer stress that I fine survivor chill
3 -
It's essentially both ways tho. Solo is either miserable because of the killer being a pussy and rushing out 1 person ASAP because there is no DS, or your survivor teammates being pussies and hiding as soon as the killer gets close, even though they have been hooked 0 times and everyone else is dead on hook(for those ######### actively doing this: it's better for 1 survivor to be on the hook with 3 survivors being alive and running around than having 3 survivors running around and 1 survivor being dead. Survivor on the hook=killer has to keep track of their status. Survivor dead=killer no longer has to care about a player).

Solo queue is pretty fun until you get a killer that camps, slugs, or tunnels. Not that I'm saying these strats are OP or can't be dealt with but solo queue teammates don't do gens and don't have the coordination (or game knowledge/skill) to help out their team so it ends up feeling pretty bad.
Getting a good killer that goes for 12 hooks against solos has created some of my favorite matches though, win or lose. Unfortunately they don't know if they're getting a bunch of solos or a sweaty SWF so most killers probably just assume the latter.
3 -
A sweaty killer + a survivor who refuses to do gens, has no coordination whatsoever, let's teammates go to phase 2... crouches as if their life depended on it
=
Solo Queue sucks.
If you're a survivor who likes to run the killer be prepared to die for others is all I'm gonna say.
2 -
From what you've described...
Players like what I'm assuming you are like are why solos are so bad, survivors so totally afraid of the killer that they are insanely slow at doing anything actually helpful for the team.

Oh I don't know. I kind of like the challenge of Solo. I'm not willing to give up on the format yet.
1 -
It really isn't... but at the same time it is lol
I always play solo and I have to say it does suck and definitely needs a tune up, but for the most part it is definitely playable.
Super simple things like a totem counter would go a long way.

This is the best way to put it. I solo survivor and my experiences are a completely mixed bag. Sometimes I have loads of fun whether I win or lose. Sometimes I have an absolutely miserable time and don't even want to touch the game for the rest of the day because I get matched against several experts in a row, have crummy teammates, and / or get paired up with survivors who are working with the killers which is the most pathetic, rage-inducing ######### this game is capable of.
I wish I could say that I had a consistent way of enjoying this game, but I don't. I just hope for the best.

I know this is going to sound like I'm being a douchebag, but genuinely, what rank are you? Most people talking about how awful solo que is are in the purples/reds area of opponents and teammates. I got kicked back to brown ranks twice last year because the depip bug was a thing and found it to be very.... Different.
Edit: I should clarify, I love solo que, but also I'm the kind of person that runs around with No Mither/MoM.
1 -
Solo queue is the most miserable experience in this game right now. Between scummy killers and ineffectual teammates, that game mode is hell.
3 -
Using No Mither and Mettle of Man together is the most alpha male perk combo I can think of.
I'd be honored to have you on my team.

This is accurate and how I feel too. And jfc I'm getting more survivors working with the Killer these days against the team to farm points. It really is infuriating, especially if you're the last survivor. Other day I had a Bubba and a Nea both hunting me and the other team mates were dead. Last night a Nea and a Claudette farming me and the other Solo survivor with an Oni (we got mori'd at the end, they ran put the gate with 27k BP each). And there's nothing you can do. Can't disconnect because of the penalty.
These people are just toilet film.
On the other hand, (and few and far between), I have fun with decent survivors, or ones that are chill and joke around. I guess that's why I still play. For those rare times I'm not face camped, tunneled, or farmed lol.

Solo que is the best way to experience Survivor
2 -
I only ever play survivor as a solo.
Like a few people have said its a real mixed bag. I certainly get more unhelpful team mates than good ones
When you do get other survivors who play well, it is fun

Exactly this,,, so many times I see other solo survivors crouching, sometimes its like two or three survivors at the same time, by the hook while the killer is camping hard. I run Bond so I see it all while I am doing my gen saying to myself,,, self, "there goes this match". It should be universal for all solo survivors, and not have to be said, if the killer is camping do the gens! That is your only chance to make him move or get out the gate. Bond and Kindred should be in everyone's solo survivor build kit at a minimum. It gives you an incredible amount of useful info for those matches where you need them badly. I don't have that many matches these days when camping happens but when it does it is sure nice. Plus, if you are across the map doing a gen and one of your teammates is hooked you know whether to leave and go for the save or stay and finish the gen. Maybe if every solo teammate runs Bond, Kindred, Borrowed Time, and whatever for the 4th slot solo matches would be better??

Playable is different than enjoyable.

"Toilet film". I like that.
I find collusion (killers and survivors working together) the absolute bottom of the barrel scumbag behavior possible. It doesn't just ruin the game for each and every other player, it actively sabotages their own chance of enjoyment. It blatantly flies in the face of what the game is all about with a giant middle finger. When I'm in a position where I see this happening and the two little friends don't realize that I've seen them running together or whatever, it sickens me. I try to go out of my way to run circles at the survivor, point to them, body block them, do whatever I can to let them know that I see what they're up to. Then, of course, I report both participants. I record every match I play so screenshots are coming as well. If the devs care, they'll find a way to fix this. If the game is smart enough to understand things like "deviancy" then I'm sure a system could be put in place to monitor how often a killer and survivor are around each other and not involved in a chase or any other competitive action.
People like that disgust me. They're cowards.

Speak for yourself. It's honestly an exercise in misery most of the time. I'm about feed up enough to go main killer again for a while.
2 -
Rank 3 and that's because I dont play often I just know what to.do to pip get a save or 2 a heal a totem like a gen and a half and survive 2 min in chase
Normally I'm rank 1 but I've been burnt put after the last 6 months so I been playing other games recently edit rank 2, 3 pips started today at rank 4

Its only this bad because of swf. All the "good" players are playing in a swf leaving the casuals and de-ranking smurf accounts in solo.
as usual swf ruins everything in this game, but it also generates money and keeps the game popular... unless killers actually pose a threat like spirit then they complain that they can't bully simulator.

Sometimes it's good and sometimes it's very bad. I've started using bond more in solo queue and it has been my most useful perk with the lack of actual communication. Although as someone else said actually seeing how my teammates are messing up is funny and frustrating on its own.
0 -
I dunno, it's sound alike maybe you're like me and just don't care about escaping? That or you're winning the lottery with teammates/opponents. Usually at high ranks solo que is just an automatic sacrifice so you either get super frustrated or you make your own fun

"solo queue isnt that bad"
4 -
I played only solo these 3 days and unfortunately it is very bad there is maybe 1 out of 10 games solo queue works because no matter how good u are you can't progress without teamwork which is in solo queue rare because everyone cares only for themselves
1 -
I play only solo and its not bad. There are just some matches where you just want to quit and i think people remember them the most.
There are also many matches where you cant win and that can be frustrating.
1 -
Solo is awful because a lot of people got carried to red ranks by their SWF and cant do gens without missing skill checks, farm you in the killer face, drop all pallets and still go down in 3 seconds.
Solo isnt enjoyable because it feels like a 1vs4, as you vs the other survivors AND the killer.
I'd rather do poorly in a match because I'm bad, not because other people are bad.
1 -
I've absolutely hated doing SWF with others. It distracts me from the game and takes away any real horror or suspense, because the comms just completely breaks the immersion. For me it just becomes vapid and souless. Also, I became less focused on my skill because I could just rely on my team.
As a solo player, I've found I've become a far better player at solo ranks. It's more immersive and atmospheric. It's also fun coming across other survivors who act in unique ways and each trial is so unpredictable. Also, I never expect to "win" every time, but instead set my own individual goal, using my own randomized setups, rather than have comms try to influence me.
It depends on the individual, but for me SWF feels like easy mode and loses pretty much all of its charm. The unpredictability of solo makes me feel I've earned my stripes.
1 -
Solo sucks because the devs refuse to give them the same information swf have. You waste perk slots for aura reading and without it you waste time not doing gens for saves etc.
either you make yourself a team player and a weak looper or easy target with no dead hard or ds, or you make the team weaker by taking strong perks and having zero idea what the others or the killer is doing.
1 -
Its the same for me. And its not that you are with complete idiots every match, i usually escape or die with the most bloodpoints in solo queue. The only thing you can't avoid is if the killer is that guy that just wants his one kill at all cost and hard tunnel you.
0 -
As someone with nobody to SWF with I agree
0 -
True I dont really care if I escape along as I can get others out I do care about escapes as killer because you can do amazing 9 hooks but if everyone escapes saftie pip or depip if gens were quick
0 -
Ok not all the time and I never said it cant be bad
0 -
Well I guess it's nice that some people enjoy solo queue. Most people including myself find it unbearable because of the teammates.
1 -
Because people on the forum are just bad and expect to win every single match, which is impossible by playing solo. Solo is okay if you're good enough
1 -
It's probably a 75-25 split. In 75% of solo queue matches, there's at least one moment of "######### are they doing??" frustration. Then, of that 75%, I'd estimate it's about 15% of matches where you leave the match wanting to scream because of what the other survivors spent the match doing (or not doing, as the case may be).
Basically, the more you play survivor, over time, the number of "#########?!?!" matches start to outnumber the enjoyable matches.

I think Solo Queue as a Concept is great, as a heavily RNG-based concept it is miserable.
You never know teammates from which side of the aisle you are going to get.
1 -
its fun but difficult in the matter of teammates being good or not and not having communications with teammates.
0 -
"Solo queue isn´t that bad...unless your objective would be survive".
1 -
As long as your expectations are low, its pretty fun. I always assume potatoes, so im never disappointed in my teammates. Any good survivor is a plus. Then you dont mind dying as well, its all about the immersion and fun for me now
1 -
Exactly solo really isn't that bad at all.
I'm now the only one of my gaming buddies who still plays on and off and playing solo is scarier than playing swf.
Because basically unless you get a 1000's hours pro killer whom are very rare, its way to easy to escape as a team who knows what they are doing.
Solo puts a bit of fear back in the game, you don't always have the info, you can't always trust the actions of your peers. Its far more survival horror than playing with friends and a better game as a result.
Solo survivor should be approached as playing for the thematic experience of trying to survive a horror movie, which is what the game is about.
The gamer e-sports chase and gen simulator, "I wanna win", crowd are the ones ruining the thematic aspect in the name of imagined balance.
