How NOT To Get the Tombstone Piece Mori
So I've been having a problem. I've been playing games looking for people abusing the Hook exploit with Breakdown. I bring the Tombstone Piece because I have a metric ton of them. I only mean to use it if I find a group abusing the exploit. Otherwise, I just swing from the right distance to Insta-Down. HOWEVER, so many people are trying to use the damn 360 and run up right next to me that THEY keep triggering the Mori as I swing. Do NOT move toward a Tombstone Piece Myers. If his free hand is not in a fist, he has the Add-on. I do not want to Mori you; STOP making me.

This is actually a great way to deal with the breakdown bug lmao.

Did they know you were running Tombstone Piece?

Take advantage of the L O N G lunge. If they die they do it to themselves.

They SHOULD. Whenever Myers is running the add on his free hand is unclenched (NOT in a fist) so he can grab for the Mori. That is the tell. That is why I'm doing this post. Personally I don't think people should run up and try to 360 and stand in the Killer's shadow anyway.... but that is just me.

I thought so. I never use the Add-on so I figured why not go Snark hunting and dispense some justice. :)

Interesting, I never knew that. The more you know, I reckon.

Most survivors don't notice the mori hand (as most surviovrs don't even know tombstones exist that much less how the work or how to counter them) and actually tombstone piece doesn't trigger it, it only appears if you're using the full pink tombstone.
Imo both tombstones should have some other kind of tell (besides that both should trigger mori hand) like for example when you're getting stalked, after 3s very slowly the stalking theme starts playing first silently and gets progressively louder.
That would make it so survivors can't get suprised by a tombstone if they know how they work and what to look out for.

That's not a bad idea.... or have his free arm out wide clearly like he is going to grab and more hunched. But the music would be great.

As long as you lunge it shouldn't trigger the kill.
Either way, if a survivor runs towards a T3 Myers, just put them out of their misery.

Tombstone Piece doesn't open your left hand since you don't move slower.
The free hand is on the Judith's Tombstone.

Are you positive? I was always told it is both. I'll go check the Wiki.

You can also check ingame. It's not a lore reason why his hand is opened, it's because he moves slower.
That's why in Tier 1 his hand is also open, because he moves at 105 %. Judith's Tombstone drops him from 115 % to 106 %. In that case it makes sense that his hand is open.
With Tombstone Piece he still moves at 115 % like normal so his hand is clenched.

Hrm. Not entirely clear. That is what I was taught, but if that Tell isn't accurate, I guess I've been lucky that I've always been assuming the worst all this time when I play against him as a Survivor. When I play him as the Killer, obviously, I don't see how my stances look. If the Tell isn't clear, it should be.

Good to know, so I don't know WHAT to advise people on how to know if I have the Tombstone Piece or not. Best advice, DO NOT run towards a Myers in Tier-3 period. :)

Well, you shouldn't really run into a Myers at all to be honest. Loop him and when you suspect an exotic Add-on like Tombstone or something, play safe. Once he reaches Tier 3, panic run into the nearest locker or animation lock so he can't Mori you.
Also, if you are in the open and a Tier 3 Tombstone Myers is behind you, if you have an Item then drop it when he is right behind you and it will trigger an attack and down you since you are in an animation lock (drop item)

Alternatively, you can just hop in a locker and remove his entire addon.

I might have to stop my Snark hunt for a bit. I feel bad about the people who run into me, as that isn't my intention. I want Breakdown Exploiters. :) Ah well. I appreciate the info. I thought I knew a lot about Myers from playing him so extensively. Apparently there is so much I didn't know only rarely playing against him.

Don't worry, he was my main from the day he got released till mid 2018. Now I play mostly Blight, Nurse, PH, Slinger. But I switch to Myers quite frequently and I'll always call him my Ex Main. I learned quite a lot with him when I mained him.

The "Myers has an open hand if he has tombstone" thing is true, but not for the reasons you think.
Basically, Myers (and all killers?) have both a walking animation, and a running animation, and the animations blend together depending how fast Myers is moving.
If you run Tombstone, Myers is slowed down to about 105% in EW2 and EW3, making him use the walking animation and giving him the open hand.
He still has the closed fist with Tombstone Piece because his movement speed is unaffected. A Myers with Tombstone and enough Play With Your Food stacks will also have the closed fist despite being able to insta-mori you.
A Myers with Vanity Mirror will appear to be running tombstone since he also has a heavy movement speed penalty in EW1 and EW2, making him use the walking animation in EW2. (and since you can't tier up above EW2 with Vanity Mirror, it often looks as if you might have tombstone and tuft and are just taking forever to reach EW3)
EDIT: A Myers player on a controller and pushing lightly on the stick can also have the open fist, as if they have tombstone.
It's unreliable. Technically a Myers with Judith's can have an open left hand, but not always, and a Tombstone Piece Myers doesn't have the open hand.
IMHO the best "tell", besides movement speed, is the Myers player's behavior. A Judith's + Tuft Myers will likely stalk survivors dry and move on to the next survivor and will hardly pressure generators in an attempt to reach EW3 as fast as they can. They might not even bother trying to hit you and will just stalk everyone and move on until they pop EW3.
Basically if the Myers player is hardly hitting anyone, not hooking anyone, and is seemingly taking a long time to reach EW3, assume they have a Tombstone.
