Does anyone else think Yun Jin got overshadowed?
Yun Jin had one of the best pieces of survivor lore, in my opinion. Yet, she was quickly forgotten about, and most of the conversation of All Kill centred around how weak the trickster was. I really liked having a survivor that was a legitimately selfish person, really interesting stuff.
She also has two pretty good perks, which is rare for new characters to have these days.
I think she deserves some love, and her cosmetic with the blue hair/dress is one of my favourites in the game!

Yeah you have to scratch the surface to figure out who the All-Kill survivor is. I think even Jane got more attention in the reveal trailer for The Plague.
I know survivors at their core are just reskins, but it would be cool to see survivor skits and trailers in the same vein as "Meet the X" Team Fortress 2 does.

It feels like an especially odd decision given the amount of players that main survivor, and their cosmetics sell very well.

Her perks are bad and when trickster came out he was also bad.of course people forgot about her
3 -
I disagree with this completely. Self preservation is bad, yes, but smash hit and fast track while not meta, still have potential to win games.

Got worse with one of her arguably coolest cosmetics is a linked set.
I must say she has the best looking hands. Whoever did that (watch her idle awhile) is pretty good, cause previous hands look like stiff claws.

Yun-Jin is my favorite survivor after Steve and maybe Cheryl, actually.

It seems that "All Kill" received more negative than positive praise. "A Binding of Kin" had that likewise, but they didn't seem to suffer the same fate for some reason. Maybe the killer's different look and all the discussion over how he fits in completely overshadowed her character.
I think there was also confusion amongst some in the community who believed the chapter was going to be lgbtq+ and subsequently the post-discussion/ arguments that came from this not happening further buried it.
Basically, Yun-Jin was lost in the shuffle. Maybe she'll rise when some good perk combinations surrounding hers are created by influencers, or some new, standout cosmetics are made?

Yun-Jin is one of my favorite survivors to play as (Right next to Cheryl and Nea). I really like her lore and cosmetics, too. Hopefully she will get something.

My thing is that survivors are just skins, I just play as a different character/killer, dump point in them, and never touch them again. Also, I nearly have every perk on my Jake and Nea, and I'm not really looking forward to redoing that whole thing on other survivors.

All-kill seemed like it was going to be popular when they were teasing it. But as said it many times. Not only Yun, but the trickster only had 5 minutes of fame before they got overshadowed by the RE announcement. And people were more disappointed in how weak the trickster is, so now people want to move on to the next chapter. Sadly even the binding of kin chapter got more love than All-kill, this chapter pretty much will be forgotten when the RE chapter gets released.

I mean, if you were introduced along side this handsome fellow, who wouldn't get overshadowed?
6 -
I HATE Elodies voice. Sounds like a boy going through puberty.
I'm also not over (and probably never will be) Yui's voice. The voice itself is really good and the actress did a good job but the voice does not match Yui's face and if I was rich I would give them money to change it.
1 -
Because Yun is not interesting, that's all. Her perks are not so good. Her story is good but that is not single player game. So we did read and finished. She is not different than any survivor.
And if i don't remember wrong Laurie was selfish survivor?
2 -
I don’t recall anytime Laurie was really selfish in the films.
5 -
I hate that people still call her “the new survivor”
0 -
It's because she's the most recent one. I mean she's only been out for what? A month and a half. She's relatively new still.
2 -
I love Yun-Jin, she's strong, iron-fisted, isn't a pushover and will do anything to get revenge (hence her backstory).
When I saw her blue outfit, I immediately knew I had to get it.
6 -
I meant her perks. She is so selfish in game.
0 -
Oh, I see. If she takes aggro with object and can loop well, it can help the team.

As someone who didn't get Yun-Jin and did get Trickster, it was because there are too many Survivors.
Like sure Yun-Jin is cool; I like her lore, I like her look, and I like her cosmetics. I like that she's a selfish Survivor.
But at the end of the day she's not really any different gameplay-wise from Quentin or Nea.
I have all perks on Nea, why would I buy a Survivor that I'll have to spend millions of bloodpoints on before I can play her without being at a disadvantage? I already have like 15 other Survivors I can do that with. They're all cool too.
I like Yui, I like Heather, I like Meg, I like Detective Tapp, I like David King, and every other Survivor. But I just do NOT have the free time to grind out perks on those characters.
Why should I spend Shards or money to make an already impossible grind even harder?
I'd rather spend my BPs on my Killers, each of whom play different, than pour millions into something that is, as far as I'm concerned, a glorified Nea/Quentin cosmetic.

I can only speak for myself, but I can't doubt that other people out there feel this way too.

Nah, he's creepy asf.

I love Yun-Jin ❤️

I really don't see why someone would use smash hit over dead hard or sprint burst. Also,i find the perk really situational. The only time i can find it useful is if you somehow stun the killer with an unsafe pallet which usually doesn't happen.

Personally,i find this perk really situational and i can't see why someone would use it over dead hard or sprint burst. The only time i can see it being useful is if you stun the killer with an unsafe pallet which rarely happens without getting hit first.

when i play survivor i can sometimes be the most selfish rat, so I loved her perks / lore.
0 -
I don't know what to tell you. People care about what they want to care about.
1 -
I honestly didn't even bother to finish reading Yun-Jin's lore. It fell short of Ji-Woon's by a mile-and-a-half.

I like that she's not like the usual survivors, she's not that good of a person. She might even be better off in the Fog,she lost everything she worked for plus she would be instantly arrested, she has nothing to return to.
0 -
Hopefully one day her lore will be expanded in a tome
0 -
I don't think she got overshadowed - I definitely see her in a lot more games than I see Trickster, who I haven't been up against in several days in not a week or more.
2 -
I'd play her way more if her voice wasn't so annoying.
She looks great + interesting lore.

I disagree. I would watch this video to get some more perspective. Really opened up my mind:

She's a survivor with her(in my opinion) keystone perk "Smash Hit" requiring stuns being released with a glitch that can make you lose your pallet stuns.
She was always going to be overshadowed simply due to the horrible timing of the bug happening that made her strongest perk at times unusable AND it not being fixed until two patches later.

Laurie was selfish in that they were going for the feel of being not only the focus of the killers attention but also the final girl. Someone who actively gets the upper hand on the killer at the end of a movie. Her perks reflect that.
Yun is selfish by nature. Self centered and using people for her own advancement. Her perks totally showcase her personality.
In fact Yun actually is epitome of what dead by daylight was designed as. A group of people working towards a common goal, but not a team. You need the others to help escape, but at the end of the game, your own survival is all that matters.
Yun would totally rescue someone from a hook if it didn't put her goal in peril. She would never take aggro and would always have a key.
She is the best survivor released, thematically, probably since Laurie. Which is crazy since most think Trickster is the worst thematically.

Am I the only one that really likes her voice?
1 -
I mean... It doesn't help that the game censors her name if you type it in the chat.
0 -
yeah who could forget a face like that?
1 -
Na Ash and Bill.

Ash and Bill are licensed characters, not really a fair comparison

True

It's just her wiggling sounds I don't really like. Otherwise, I'd argue she has some of the best voice acting among the Survivor cast. As much as I know people would oppose, I do hope they go back and change some of the voices, particularly for Laurie, Bill, and Elodie.

Realistically, I'm pretty sure anyone would be overshadowed by someone like the Trickster. But for real, the fact that Trickster was so bad on launch is what really got attention.
Yun-Jin definitely has a lot of fans though so that's nice to see. I imagine her and Trickster like that meme of the smaller bird being talked over by the larger crow lol
Even in the startup launcher she's giving him such a nasty side eye like she's angry he steals the spotlight

She's a common survivor in my matches. So I don't think she is being ignored by the player base.
