Isn´t absurd DBD is not playable without PS Plus?
I mean, you have to buy the game and then is not even playable if you don´t get PS Plus.
The game should be Free to Play or at least Free to Play with a PS Plus suscription.

Why?

yeah its almost like its a scummy move from a company to sell games at full price and then lock all online functions behind a monthly subscription paywall.
thats the main reason why i stopped playing on my Playstation 4 btw, because i was tired of having bought Overwatch for the full price, freaking 65€ (i think - might actually have been 70€), just to have to pay to even get past the very first start up screen.
however, thats nothing BHVR has anything to do with, so they cant help you here.
instead you should be complaining to Sony.

This is literally the case with every other game on Playstation and even Microsoft.

Ps plus is what allows you to play online and dbd is an online game so of course you have to have ps plus.
If you don't want to pay for it then I'm sorry but you shouldn't be buying online games.
12 -
What? Isn't that how console games work? You pay for subscriptions to access multiplayer?
9 -
Someone is new to online console gaming.
11 -
Not with the soulja boy console you don't.
1 -
I hate to be that person but PC best. These console companies know if you ever want to see the pearly gates of online gaming you’ll pay a premium for it. Since they have a monopoly on your console they can charge whatever they want to play the games you paid for. I completely left console gaming for this reason alone, it’s pricey but hell saves money in the long run.

That's just their model.
"...or at least Free to Play with a PS Plus suscription", that's literally the case.
I think fortnight can be played online without a subscription. Maybe, idk I don't play that game but I saw my little brother playing it however idk if it was because I was sharing my subscription with him or not.

Yes but that's cause Fortnite is a legit Free to Play. The same applies to Warframe I believe. Actual F2P don't need subscription. DbD isn't a F2P
2 -
Oh I see.
I don't see that ever happening but I wouldn't mind it. The game was already given for free for a time for people with a ps+ subscription so idk if they'd be open to that.

Nice try, but no, I have been playing DBD since it came out and never stopped having PS Plus.
But wanting to have a friend joining the game and telling him he needs to pay for the Game + PS Plus is not helping me getting him on board.

Friday 13th is a similar game but you can play at least play with bots, the game is not completely useless without PS Plus.
0 -
All games on PS4 and PS5 require PS+ to play online. DBD isn't the only one.
3 -
blame sony not BHVR
4 -
You are missing the point: most of those games are not completly useless without PS Plus.
DBD is.
0 -
Where I am blaming BHVR?

you have to pay them to use your own internet (which you might also be paying for)
pay to win confirmed

Watch Dogs (the first one) on PS4 allows you to do hacking and tailing invasions, but doesn’t let you do races, decrypt, or free roam, without a subscription.
For some reason this didn’t carry over into Watch Dogs 2.
If Ubisoft of all companies could do it, anybody could do it.

A already bought a car, so i think the gasoline should be free!
2 -
More like "I bought a car and a car air freshener, but I have to pay to put the air freshener in the car".
You're not paying for what you need to use the car (console), you're paying to have the car (console) use something you already bought and paid for (internet connection).
And this is why I'll never play on console again. Console manufacturers can freeze in the 9th Circle of Hell for this BS right alongside Satan as far as I'm concerned.

I'm sure that if going f2p were to benefit behavior more than their current model they would have done it by now. I don't doubt their ability of going f2p. They just don't want to, or at least they have shown no interest in doing so.
The game has been out for years and so far they have kept it as it is.
But who knows, maybe they have something in the works, but as far as I can see it looks like they have their hands full with pumping out the next chapter, making more cosmetics and overall being focused in creating more ways for people to give them more money, instead of removing them.

Sorry this is why I play PC so I dont have to deal with some ######### subscription to use my internet
1 -
in the summer of 2018 it was free for ps plus users, should of snagged it then.
1 -
Can´t tell a friend to go back in time and do that.
He didn´t even have a PS4 back then, ffs.
1 -
Ahhh, i remember the good ol' days on the PS3, not needing PS+ for online play.
1 -
They have every reason to go F2P and not stay pay-locked, except for the fact that it would turn the game into a hacker’s toybox since they can just keep making new accounts and downloading the game for free. This happened to Counter Strike: Global Offensive when they proposed to make the game free to play with the option to pay to ‘fully unlock’ it..
With CS:GO however, you are put only into free lobbies, where other players who haven’t paid for the game go. Said players who haven’t paid for the game are running rampant with hacks inside of the free lobbies. If you want to actually play the game properly (ie, without the vast majority of players being insane overt hackers) you still need to spend.
DBD could do this - free lobbies and paid lobbies - but it would probably be expensive and take quite some effort. Two things that we all know BHVR don’t expend much of, but with regards to this concept I don’t blame them at all.
Still this wouldn’t do anything about consoles needing subscriptions to play the game. Or maybe it could if BHVR manage to play on ‘technicalities’. If DBD goes mainline F2P so free players can play, and give it the ‘pay for paid lobbies’ sort of system CSGO has then maybe, just maybe, they could spin it enough that both console platforms would let DBD be a subscriptionless online multiplayer game.

It's becuse of xbox 360 it was the first console that added #########** subscription
2 -
I mean. That's just how consoles work unfortunately. It's not just PlayStation. Both Nintendo Switch and Xbox are the same.
1 -
In August 2018 DBD was one of the free PS Plus games. Maybe it will come back
0 -
Money grabbing company that's it
0 -
They could just make it free for PS+ members. There, fixed.

this is the exact reason I haven't touched my PS4 in over 4 years now.
Having to pay for online with a game I paid for is bullshit.
I use steam now for online gaming. It use to be with PS4.
Now I just use my PS4 for exclusives I can't get on PC. Unfortunately there isn't many exclusives I want to play thus never touching the damn thing in 4 years.
2 -
The online subscription is the only thing encouraging them to make consoles. They design and sell the console to you at a loss and make up that loss and profit from the online subscription.
2 -
It's too bad they refuse to acknowledge the obvious problem in the "consoles are too expensive to make and need to be sold at a loss to compete with PCs" thing.
1 -
Well then what reasons are those? You've only mentioned good reasons why they shouldn't go f2p yet claimed that they have every reason to do so.
As someone already pointed out the game is already set up like a free to play game; they are enjoying the benefits of it while still charging for access to the game.

Bro the dora fridge console is better you get 198492837827837836 fps on dbd and it has 2938 gb of ram 🥵😬😳😎
1 -
Yeah, i bet they saw Xbox and were like: "👀 They don't mind paying for it?!"
0 -
Yes, it is bad. You're literally paying for your console to use something you already paid for. It'd be like paying for your phone to use your SIM card after you already paid for the SIM card itself. It's mental.
2 -
God I forgot the damn SouljaGame even existed, don't remind me!
0 -
I know what you meant. It's still infinitely more expensive than it should be, as well as an anti-consumer business model. It's unfortunate that a lot of people feel the same way you do, or consoles might actually be worth buying.
1 -
I spend 0 to have my PC use the service I already paid for and give it access to. I'm not familiar with subscription systems on PC (because I find the practice to be predatory at best), but I'm almost certain they'd cost less than whatever you pay on console, simply because consoles are sold at a loss and thus have to make up the difference somehow.
0 -
Yeah because it’s a pvp game. If it had an offline mode where you could go against bots then that would be a different story but it doesn’t. All pvp games require PS plus to play
1 -
Thats how all online games work except for a few. So no? I mean i hate ps plus who doesnt but still
0 -
That's not BHVR's fault that's your fault for playing on consoles.
0 -
Or you can play on PCs and spend $0 your entire life to play online games.
1 -
It's absurd that some people are too cheap to pay for something they enjoy...
0 -
You could not pay for it instead of rewarding Sony for this #########. This is like giving your dog a treat after it bites your arm. You're just rewarding the bad behavior.
0 -
OP already paid for the console, the game, and the internet connection. Why do they also have to pay for the game to use their internet connection? See my example with the air freshener.
0 -
Be mad at Sony. The ps3 had online access included. They got greedy to compete with Microsoft and this is why we can't have nice things. Capitalism
