Ever had a genuinely scary moment in dbd?

So, I'll start it off.

When I first played this game, I was nervous. I was at a friend's house when I booted the game up for the first time, he asks what it is and I told him the basics of it, the general concept of it. He gets interested and wants to watch me play the game, I get into a survivor match and he's asking me a bunch of questions such as: What do you have to? Who's the killer? Is it random?

I show him gens, pallets, windows, and the gate. But the real scary moment happens when a survivor gets hooked. I get excited and I start explaining how you have to unhook survivors before they're sacrificed to the Entity. I run up to the survivor and then the Hag's traps set off.

There were three in a nice pattern. I screamed mid sentence and accidentally threw my controller at the TV I brought with me (it got chipped a tiny bit, you wouldn't see it unless you were looking) I'm sitting there, a little shaken up, I look at my friend who's sitting there with a pondering expression. Then he says "I'm gonna buy the game"

If there is one thing this game is, it's random.

But yeah the game used to be scary, and every once in a while it is. Going against a good killer with mediocre teammates is pretty nerve-wracking.

Specific killers are scary to me. I want this game to bring back the fear.

Mostly due to GhostFace & Hag's traps

The last few seconds of repairing a gen are always tense for me. Probably the scariest moment was when a Ghost Face silently ripped me off of a generator around when I first started playing. Scared the ######### out of me.

Only scary thing for me left is the BP grind

The only thing that genuinely jumpscares me is when I'm killer just minding my business and I get a pallet in the face.

I played a game as killer. Kinda had to take a dump. Ignored it. No big deal. The second game started. About 10 seconds in I was about to diarrhea dump in my pants.

I had to go afk, but did make it to the toilet in time. Apologized for being afk in the post game chat.

Yesterday I got pulled off a gen by a Huntress with Wooden Fox. I was staring at the building I thought she was chasing someone in, waiting for her lullaby to grow louder or quieter, and suddenly, yoink from behind. Definitely made me look at that addon in a new light.

Anyway, mostly stealth killer jumpscares. Ghostface and Myers are the best at panicking me, especially Scratched Mirror games. There was one time a hit from a Scratched Mirror Myers spooked me so bad I spazzed out and tabbed out of the game. Had to frantically close the couple of windows of File Explorer I accidentally brought up. When I switched back into DBD, he was just standing there, watching me.

Yeah. The biggest jump scares are when survivors pallet stun me.

Or when you open a locker looking for a reload and suddenly Kate is screaming in your face.

    Survivors are terrifying.

After 2.3k hours, I still get startled when an immersed survivors suddenly slams a pallet on my head when I'm just minding my business.

I screamed when a Tinkerer Nurse jumped into me the other day. Same when I was chased by a T1 Myers who disappeared... to reappear behind me. He stared at me, standing still. I felt he was kind of RPing while feeding his power.

The game isn't scary anymore to me, but I'm still jump scared from time to time.

Mmyeah i had lots of them, but they are pretty much all within the first year.

The feeling of suspense as Survivor was absolutely high in me at the time, couldn't even try to play competitively.

That feeling fades over time of course, and i accepted that.

Oh, i don't count jumpscares btw.

Sorry Hag traps, Shape grabs & unseen Bear Traps.

When Myers wasn't detected in Tier 1 with Spine Chill.

I would always get big jump scares from him 😅

I'm in the club of being terrified of random pallet stuns.

That stuff legit makes me jump when I least expect it.

    ---

Also when I'm a survivor doing a generator in a small corner with a low field of vision vs a known stealth killer like Pig, Ghost Face, or T1 Meyers.

The stealth killers themselves never seem to scare me, but holy crap a random survivor sneaking up to join me on the gen always seems to.

It is the unexpected that causes trepidation.

Once you become familiar, learn the game & understand what is coming - that trepidation subsides.

I do like that period at the start of the game as a survivor, when you don't know who the killer is.

Seeing Trickster added into the game. Not because he himself is scary. But because the devs honestly thought his state at release didn't need buffs until the community told them otherwise.

I was playing on Midwich, just coming off the stairs to the second floor, when I glimpsed Oni down the other end of the corridor, and half a second later I heard him roar.
