How do I get Blinded from behind?
New Killer, though Im just about to pack it in for this game entirely. DBD is just unplayable as it is unless you like to be eternally irritated. Today as a Rank 13 Killer, I have had CONSTANT lobbys of purple rank SWF. It's just a terrible experience.
One thing that is really confusing me though, and I hope someone can explain it to me- I constantly get blinded by flashlights when I do actually get a down. The thing is, the survivor blinding me isn't even in front of me. So I just got blinded, and I swear to God, the flashlight ######### was BEHIND me, or maybe a bit to my right. How do you avoid that? When i play survivor it's really difficult for me to land a flashlight stun, but somehow I had a group of survivors that could do it from behind me and slightly to the right?
Id it an add on or special bulb?

Good ######### question.

I'm not even kidding. My partner was watching me play, and we both could not believe I was blinded (and stunned into dropping a survivor) when the survivor with the flashlight was nowhere in front of me. they were BEHIND me, at best- over my right shoulder. They were NOT in my field of vision.

There's a weird angle survivors can get on the killer, I can't remember if it's to their left or right but for some reason you can blind them on this side and it might be slightly out of their FOV which is weird
7 -
It's gotta be, but that's BS. I was staring at a wall, and just heard the click and boom- blinded. Absolute shite.
6 -
I think survivors can also get some slightly altered angles because they can crouch while blinding now
Never tried it or tested so, I could be completely wrong
2 -
They can catch you at angles that shouldn't work but do.
5 -
The blind angle is wider than the killers fov. Face a wall to avoid getting flashlight saved. They can't blind you if you face walls while picking up.
1 -
Yeah, the survivor doesn't have to be in the killer's FoV to blind them because the angle is higher than the FoV. Kind of like reverse spine chill.
I wish they would rework Blinds to make them easier but less impactful. Right now, half the time the counterplay is just mass slugging and hoping they don't have Unbreakable.
4 -
Wrong. They can blind you when you're looking at a wall, because the OP and I have experienced it.

Flashlights are just busted and inconsistent.

I love it when people don't read the discussion (even short ones like this) and either post about already discussed points like here or double/triple/quadruple/.... Stuff.
6 -
Usually that is because you allow an angle to appear. If there's a doorway/window near the wall, DON'T PICK UP THERE. That creates an angle. If you've been blinded facing a wall in another situation, it was either Monitor, Shadowborn, or possibly something having to do with a hole in the wall. Sometimes you can blind through them.

Who doesn't use Unbreakable right now? It's in every game now. Really annoying since my playstyle is a heavy slugging one.

Sorry. I just tag the person and give my answer.

Honestly flashlights are weird I've gone for a flash save in front of the killer but nothing happened then same killer when from the left or right and bam near enough instant stun. It's part of the reason I stop playing killer once I reach rank 10 in those ranks everyone is doing it successful

You must have eyes in the back of your head.
😀

there's the eternal question.
"how come whenever i try to blind the killer it doesn't work, but then survivors can blind me from the back of my head?"
i don't know, dude. i just don't know. i've looked up tutorials on flashlight blinding and how to do it and it still eludes me. i just need to accept my status as a map and medkit guy.

Haha same.

I heard when a survivor used their flashlight on some playground wall it went through and the Pig was stunned, which was weird. I swear it's buggy too. ☺️

"Just look at a wall and you won't get blinded" Yeah...ok. I still get blinded from a flashlight shining on my ear as a killer.
1 -
If you seen them come in with flashlights you need to keep on your toes.
Don't be quick to pick up act like your going to turn, look and attack.

Happens to me sometimes. Getting blinded by a flashlight beam you cannot physically see at all is annoying.
2 -
That or being blinded from the sides when the flashlight thing is not even on my screen. Usually I just ######### rage quit after.
2 -
Awhile back the Devs "fixed" this so survivors could only blind you within your FoV.
Love it when old bugs pop back up.
2 -
But more of my face is covered by the wall than is exposed. It seems like survivors don't even have to aim the flashlight. Just point it at the killer's head even from a bad angle and you get the blind.
2 -
If ANY of your face is exposed, you'll get blinded. But if you fully face a wall, you can't.

The devs think it's perfectly fair to deny a killer a hook by pointing a cone of light at the side of their neck.
3 -
Lag if its fully behind :D also you can be blinded by survivor at angles you cant see since its out of FOV.
1 -
This isn't psychically possible it was either lag or u saw it wrongly also in order to get blind u just have to get the spot u don't need to be in front of killer literally u can do it by side too but from behind it's impossible lol maybe it was just a lag or who knows maybe new bug

Yeah, this crap is exactly why I say screw it and run Lightborn 100% of the time. It's just permanently on my killers right now, doesn't matter what survivors have in the lobby. Before dedicated servers, I could counter flashlights just fine. Since dedicated servers, it feels like another thing that's out of my control, like broken grabs and frame drops, and I just don't have the energy to fight against a million stupid things in this game.

I've literally been facing a solid brick all and gotten blinded by someone standing back behind me. I don't understand why it happens, either.

We're you running an FOV perk? Or where you just not completely facing the wall? Because you can't get blinded from behind.

- For the love of God, man. Punctuation isn't your enemy, I promise.
"It's impossible to get blinded from behind"- if you read the thread, I said behind or back and right of me (inbetween behind me and the side). It's obvious from this thread that loads of us have experienced being blinded in ways that make absolutely no sense whatsoever. If I'm gonna be blinded by a beam of light, it should at least make sense and obey the laws of reality.

so what's ur point here? U got blinded by right angle and that's it move on

I asked a question about flashlights in the OP and many people replied. I learned a few things! That's what the general discussion forum is for.
