What rank SHOULD you be?

Honest evaluation time! What rank do you think you should be at based on your skill and gameplay?

The pip system fast-tracked me from rank 20 to rank 8 in a matter of days. I'm sure I'll be back to rank 1 by the end of the week. But if the system was an accurate representation of skill and gameplay style I'd say I really belong at rank 10-12. Somewhere in the green ranks.

I can have good chases and some pretty decent saving plays but I regularly like to help my fellow Survivors escape and then throw myself on hook for struggling Killers, I like to play fairly altruistically, I get bored more often than not in sweaty rounds. If my fellow Survivors are pretty much out the door and the tea is ready/cat needs fed/whatever then... shrug... Yet casual as I am in this game I just fly through the ranks. 🤣

Survivor - probably rank 3 with improvement needed on looping to extend chases.

    Killer - rank 14

Tbh, I'm probably a Rank 5-8 Survivor, I just know how to cheese the pip system.

    I'm definitely a Rank 1 Killer though.

Both rank 1 i guess. But how should i know how good i need to be for rank 1?

Around rank 4 both sides. Anything better than 4 should be exclusive to players that absolutely never mess up and have optimal decision making at all times.

How does one cheese said system? I need to know so that I can know how to do the opposite. I genuinely don't know why I pip up. Like after some of my worst rounds I still pip - it's comical.

I could not agree more. Honestly? I think rank 5+ should be what you described. 1-5 should be the most expert players. 6-10 could be people who are really good but aren't at the pro level. 11-15 could be those people who are decent at the game and know the mechanics and how to chase/be chased. 16-20 should be new people or someone who is really casual.

I should probably be a rank 7 survivor tbh, I'm not bad at surv but I'm not good either, just enough to get the job done.

Rank 6 for killer, probably? I'm pretty solid at killer so maybe 4.

I'd say I belong anywhere between ranks 13 to maaaaaybe 10 as killer? I think 12 is a nice solid place though for me. Either way as long as I'm not facing rank 1 tryhard SWF bully teams. It's infuriating getting thrown in to those matches because I am no where near equipped to even be able to entertain the idea of trying to deal with sweaty tryhards like that.

I'm comfortable with being red rank killer. As a survivor - honestly I should probably be like 5-6/purple rank. I am a better killer than I am a survivor. Not saying I am a bad survivor, but there are a few killers if played well I have a hard time against.

  • Kate_Main_01
    Kate_Main_01 Member Posts: 504

That's how I feel against the red rank Killers. Like I said I just get so entirely bored. And that's not saying bad about people who take the game really seriously, want to play perfectly, use all of the meta perks, etc! For people who enjoy those kinds of games that's awesome! But how people like me end up in red tiers with them is the baffling bit.

  • Marik13
    Marik13 Member Posts: 683

I mean the meta perks are whatever. I think they can be handled for the most part. My issue is yeah, putting high ranks who have everything unlocked against people who just can't combat anything like that.

    Stinde Member Posts: 459

As survivor, I think I belong to rank 1 or 2. I'm usually the one carrying the team as a solo survivor. Sometimes I do stupid plays on purpose, either because it's fun at the moment or to test how experienced the killer is so I can improve my gameplay in that match.

    As killer I think I belong to rank 4 but as a Trapper I think I'm a solid rank 2 or 3.

I play in rank 7-4 as both survivor and killer. I do think I'm okay in both, but sometimes I get shittier teammates when I'm playing in red ranks than when I'm in rank 8

  • Jacoby2041
    Jacoby2041 Member Posts: 843

Probably around 5 for both. I think I'm pretty good when I want to be but I never use meta perks and I usually just play to have fun, I don't really try that hard

I was rank 1 on both sides last rank reset.

And I have no business being there. Purple rank? Maybe, but I don't have even 1k hours in the game so it feels weird being rank 1 like someone with 4k hours and much better player than I am

I'm rank 12 as killer, but I don't have that much game time and experience yet. Therefore, I think that I also belong to 15-14. With 12 I often play against purple and red with meta-perks. In the yellow ranks it was even more relaxed. I don't have to win the games, but I don't want to be completely taken apart either.

Definitely rank 1-2 killer. As much as I hate and complain about it, I'm currently in purple ranks thanks to the depip bug and it's... It's just not my world.

Probably the same for survivor if I'm honest. I'm not the best in chases but I certainly know what I'm doing outside of them and my confusion-based running style has been massively screwing my opponents, because who needs a plan when you can improvise?

  • Rullisi
    Rullisi Member Posts: 392

10, but the game insists on me staying in reds.

  • NomiNomad
    NomiNomad Member Posts: 3,181

Probably purple ranks on both. Maybe a red rank killer if I'm being generous.

I can competently go against Red Rank Survs most of the time, but they do also wreck my ######### from time to time. Otherwise, I think I've got a lot of stuff about Killer down.

As far as Survivor goes, I can competently loop and escape in chase but since I don't play Surv as much I'm not as consistent.

  • TheMadCat
    TheMadCat Member Posts: 2,203

I'm back to rank 4 since the reset, but I'm usually rank 3-2.

I don't even know how, as my running skill are more rank 8-7 to me. I'm acting like a red rank, but I have the skill of a purple.

Definitely a rank 1 killer, I can consistently 3k/4k with a lot of killers.

As for survivor, I'd say somewhere in the purples.

    1. I know all maps, tiles, loops, can guess perks, know counters, dont rely on perks. Knowing timings for pallet saves, sabo saves, flashlight saves etc. Honestly very little more I can learn, only thing I can improve on is use meta perks... killer 1, just need to practice some of them but iv been playing them all since game release at rank 1

Honestly? I wish they'd just get rid of rank altogether. It's pointless. Instead of implementing a bloodpoint reward by rank, do it by hours played each month. Spend more time on accurate matchmaking, and match people by skill, and leave it at that.

Recently, I’ve been playing Solo Q without perks, items, or any offerings that’ll shift the game in my favor.

I’m stuck at purple ranks, so I assume that’s where I belong for now.

I should definitely be purple rank survivor. I know how to loop but a lot of times I’m not great at executing it .

For killer, however, I think I’m worthy enough of being rank 1.

Purple ranks for both survivor and killer. But then again, if the emblem system wants to skyrocket me to red ranks I don't mind that at all.

Probably like rank 12-13 for Survivor. I may like to think I'm hot ######### but I always get downed super fast and make dumb decisions, lol.

I'm much better at Killer but I'm definitely nowhere near the best. Maybe somewhere around the 5-8 range?

My rank as survivor - 3. My rank as killer 1.

I feel that as a survivor I should be about rank 7 and as killer I should be about rank 5. I'm solid with my killer power but when it comes to the core m1 gameplay and looping I struggle which is why I feel my rank is too high as killer.

Rank 1 Survivor. I can handle most top tier Killers.

Rank 6 Killer. I’m currently Rank 1 but I can’t handle the sweaty SWFs and would rather never be ROFL stomped by them.

As a killer I think I am rank 8. Mid Purple range. I play as well as I can but at the same time I don't want to be up against a try hard squad every match. I like being chill. Which is why I don't hit r1 often. Once it gets very frustrating I play something else. Although I don't use meta killers most of the time I can mind game but I also screw up at it. I have a bad habit of anticipating where the survivor will run, only to be proven wrong and I end up losing them.

As a survivor it's very iffy. Id say green rank if I am being honest. I can run the killer on a good chase sometimes but other times I run to a dead zone. It gets so bad I find myself bringing windows of opportunity to help counter it. I also tend to loop not as efficiently as others can do it to me. I either don't hug the wall enough to get that extra loop before getting hit or I hug it too tight and get caught on something. Most of the time I am the rescuer. I am usually the guy who always brings BT. When someone is hooked I often make the save. Though I am smart enough to determine when it is safe and when I should not make the attempt. If I make the save and the killer comes back I try my best to grab their attention or take a protection hit. I almost always play in a swf because randoms suck which plays a huge factor in how well my matches go.

I should probably be somewhere between very high green and very low red.

I know that's quite the range, but then again my "win"-rate has quite the range.

Sometimes i just suck and sometimes i just destroy, doesn't even matter how good the Survivors were.

  • GenJockeyNance
    GenJockeyNance Member Posts: 687

Red rank as survivor but I get demolished half the time because I don't do well with looping and rank 1 killers can sniff it out and I'm usually tunneled out once they realize it. Maybe green ranks for sure. I can do decently but not decently enough with a rank 1 killer who can make me face plant right into him. Nothing against those killers, I just need to get better at my looping but the idk what the issue is?? I've studied YT vids and checked up on looping guides but nah I still face plant right into them or I'm not making it to pallets on time and I go down. Really frustrating when you feel useless to your team. So green. Don't even know how I'm at red ranks since I'm trash.

Killer I'm good at purple. I'm better at killer than survivor apparently.

    Rank 21 😎

As a Survivor... maybe Rank 3-5? I almost only play Solo Q and know how every mechanic works and most strats but sometimes my brain shuts off for no reason and I go down in the dumbest of ways. Most of the time I do fine though and know how to counter mindgames and where to take chases so that my team can either work on gens or the killer has to leave me but not enough to come close to being a "real" rank 1.

As a Killer it mostly depends on the type of Killer that I am playing. As a Trapper/Hag I would see myself rank 10-12 since I am good at m1 chases but suck at trap placement for the most part, but as Blight and some other killers I would probably be rank 1, since I am confident enough to play perkless and I also literally couldn't find a game in 2 hours while SBMM was tested.

I should be a green rank killer, but I'm purple rank. Don't play enough to get to red rank and I can't stay in green rank for long.

For survivor, I would say rank 5, maybe rank 4 at best.

    For killer, I'm definitely a rank 8.

Definitely a rank 2-3 survivor as I know how to line up tiles and waste a lot of the killers time although I do sometimes play a lot worse than I should.

Otherwise I'm probably a purple rank killer, I'd say about 6. I know a lot of tips and tricks as well as predicting survivor movement but when it comes to SWFs, certain killers (Billy ;-;) and getting tilted.. I'm not very efficient.

Given that I play survivor 90% of the time, it makes sense.

"I know where to take the chase so my teammates can work on gens." Same. I might not be the best in chases but I do have common sense to keep the killer away from gens my team is working on. I'll take it as far as I can away. What I'm repaid with however, is Claudette who hasn't even been hooked once finally gets in a chase and brings the killer literally right by me on the gen who is on death hook. 🙃

To be honest, as a killer I am rank 1, but I feel like I should be in ranks 16-20, I mean, it's like going back to my origins in DbD. From survivor I am in rank 7 and they match me with red ranks, maybe the skill system if it is working I would say.

When I compare myself to some of my teammates, I sometimes think I should be above red ranks.

If I had to rate myself between 1-20, however, I'd put myself around a 5.

I can't 360 and definitely over-rely on pallets in a chase since my window game isn't the best. While I've still run killers around enough to be very upset with me, my lacking skill in this area is my biggest flaw. I can also find myself out of position more times than I like, and rarely create pre-determined pathing options when doing objectives. In contrast, I feel the most confident in my ability to make good decisions quickly and always act with efficiency in mind - which is also the reason for my high-ish personal rating.

    Edit:

I'm rank 1 using the current system for reference.

Killer:Rank one. I'm a console nurse main, and haven't lost in 7 months. I don't know how you can get better than that.

Survivor:Rank 5-8. Somewhere in the purple ranks. I regularly bully killers, but I also don't go against many good ones. I know how to loop, and know how to maximize efficiency on gens, hook saves, totems, you name it. However, I feel like rank one should be for players like Ussylis and Ayrun, and I'm not at that level.

  • FancyMrB
    FancyMrB Member Posts: 1,250

I'm rank 4 survivor but I think I would be better described as a rank 10 (average). I'm bad at chases and can't loop. I also use fun perks over meta perks.

How I make it to red ranks I have no clue.

Killer I'm 7-8 and I think that is accurate :) I'm pretty good against purple ranked survivors. If its a swf red death squad then I am no good.

Yeah, I always die a little bit on the inside whenever a gen is almost done and somebody runs the killer to me while ruin is up. To be fair, sometimes it just happens if you don't run bond, can't blame them, but I also had people with bond beeline it to me too, which was a lot of fun.
