Community petition to scrap the auto ban system

onemind
onemind Member Posts: 3,089

On paper its sounds good but it won't work people will be getting banned just for playing the way the want

The only way that could slightly work if in the hacking category to catch hackers and then they could be reviewed

Say yay if you want them to drop the auto ban system and only keep the hacking part for review

Say nay if you think this is is a good idea

Yeah, whatever happened to the devs letting hackers run loose because we didn't have evidence? This is a complete 180 in all the wrong ways.

    Yay

I'm signing this because salty players, killer and survivor, will abuse it. I'm expecting a lot of posts about unjust bans if this goes through.

don’t need details to see the BS. there should NEVER be any kind of “auto-ban” feature in a game where the community is this salty and will definitely exploit to the fullest extent (i.e: 4 man swf mass reporting the spirit who slugged the whole team, spirit gets auto-banned). even if it’s not immediate, and is instead a build up of reports before the auto-ban, it still doesn’t work because of mass reporting. basically I don’t think details matter much here. the devs need to figure out how to manually check reports, not saying it’s a walk in the park, but has to be done somehow.

NOPE, DONT WANT IT, IT WAS NEVER NEEDED!

another scenario of the devs not listening and doing other things instead. Some people out there will FIND A WAY to abuse it, just you wait.

    petitions don't ever do anything.

If it really bothers the community, they have to to stop playing the game.

    Hello, friends.

I am from the future, where I have gotten a full grasp and understanding of the auto-ban system.

I don't have much time. I've only come to warn you, and everyone else, that there's some important details about the system they didn't reveal yet!

    The system only dete--

Hey an auto ban system will be fun, maybe I'll stream stridor Spirit gameplay until I get banned so there's no doubt that I played clean.

Wrong, people complained about the NEW UI we had a few months back, and it got changed.

Na they listened very well this time but this isint needed so let's see if they keep listening

I'd rather have details before speaking out against it since if done well, it could be one of the best QOL changes to the game.

oh yeah they will. but from what i've seen petitions do jack.

    Yay!

It might be a little bit early for a petition, but as a long time Freddy main my worries are stronger and louder than any voice of reason.

    NOPE will be a disaster.

  • onemind
    onemind Member Posts: 3,089

That is a fair opinion but this has me worried we saw how the auto filter went at least you could play the game this wouldn't let you

I definitely think that them shooting themselves in foot during that time with the colorblind comment did more to open them up, then an arbitrary "I don't like the UI".

I get your point tbh but the fact is they also shoved that in last minute out of nowhere; this is something they're telling us they're working on pretty openly which gives me some hope for a good system!

If they do it where you reach x amount of reports you could have your account reviewed that might be acceptable

But that's not an auto ban that's a auto ticket for them to review your account

    onemind Member Posts: 3,089

Thankfully it's in early production but no just I would rather sade the devs the effort and the players the issue of not being able to play

I'm hoping there is more to it than just you receive x reports and you're banned. I'm going to wait and see what their "more details" are and hope that it involves on their end they'll have recordings of the games they'll review when a report is received.

Hopefully but that's what I cought when they mention it

  • bluedusef

No the UI was all over the place, hence why it mostly got moved back into the corner.

  • bm33
    bm33 Member Posts: 8,499

I'm really hoping this is just a case of them being horrible at communication and there's more to it. If it is x reports and you're out that would really screw over their content creators, unless they were to give them some sort of pass.

  • VikingWilson
    VikingWilson Member Posts: 789

Well, since the devs have long done jack all about reports, I imagine they figured they'll make a program to do it for them.

Don't you think this is all a bit "sky is falling" overreaction.

Yed the idea irks me to but there is currently no details about it at all outside of a simple anouncement as it being part of the roadmap.

Like in most cases of general social behaviour, in the absence of facts people start making up their own things to go with. Often these ideas are alarmist, knee jerk and based on emotion rather than rational thought.

So lets lay out some rational thinking.

Currently it feels like reports for bad behaviour have no effect, this may fix that but given you never know the outcome of a report anyway you aren't going to know anyway

There must be fricken thousands of these things all the time and sorting through the legit from the garbage is probably a monumental task, this system would save time and money on developer end

A system that could reliably identify the real complaints from the fake would be ideal

Hopefully the automated system wouldn't have power of judgment, rather only flag and escalate a repeat complaint reciever for further scrutiny.

The system relies on the community to police itself and lets face it a large proportion of that community are childish, tantrum throwing, sore loser, idiots... you know who you are, you may lie to yourself but deep down you know.

How well will it filter out things people complain about but aren't actually bannable offences, camping, tunneling, bm'ing, flashlight clicking.

BHVR updates are kinda known to be buggy and if this thing can ban you then buggy bans aint a great thing

Will it scrutinize repeat complaint makers as it would complaint receivers.

These are points I would like to see addressed and until they are I have no choice but to reserve judgment and see what they come up with.

If you have concerns great, if they are legitimate great, if you can deliver those concerns in a rational manner then you are more likely to be listened to.

They also announced a certain early game mechanic in the anniversary stream a year ago. Bhvr have a track record of announcing things then never mentioning them again.

when did I complain I made a simple statement

Also I dont really feel like losing my almost a year play time on my account because some like 50hr player who didnt understand something gets me banned

I just don’t see how this system could work. We don’t know the details yet and everything is speculation, but it sounded like a system to at least escalate based upon the number of reports.

Do the devs really have the tech and manpower to trawl through video footage of game after game, for player after player, to verify whether or not the reports are malicious or accurate? Highly unlikely. Which suggests the system could be designed to simply ban you automatically once you reach a certain report threshold, which would of course be disastrous.

    Time will tell I suppose.
