The Devs NEED to give information on the Autoban-System ASAP

Hello,

during the Livestream there were a few topics which were adressed, but they were all pretty vague. Which is fine for the most part - however, the Autoban-System NEEDS to be explained as soon as possible.

It has to be the next task the Devs are doing and they should basically start just now to write a Blogpost about it. Because from what they said it sounds like "If you get enough Reports, you will get banned". And we know this Community, people will be reported for everything.

You camped as Killer? Report.

You teabagged? Report.

You are a TTV? Report.

and so on...

I am quite sure that this is not how it works (it would be the worst idea ever and the Devs are not stupid) - it will probably not be the case that the reports will just trigger an automatic System which will then result in a (temporary) ban. However, we dont have any information and the Forums are going crazy about this topic.

So there needs to be a clarification ASAP, how the system works. The information about the Autoban-System should have never gone out without properly explaining how it will work in the first place.

I agree. If it’s the way they first described it, it will be disastrous. We need more details!

Considering how much time and money people sink into this game because of the insane number of DLCs and microtransactions and the insane grind, they would be extremely short-sighted to risk unwarranted bans. Who’s gonna start dropping money on skins and rift passes if you run the risk of getting banned because you play “sweaty”? Or because people don’t like your pride charm?

I agree, they really need to consider their auto-ban criteria and be transparent with the community because this could absolutely kill the game if it’s not handled properly.

Yes. I am not going to panic at this point, currently I think it was a poor choice of works mixed with lack of information. However, this should be solved basically immediatly.

Turning over the asylum to the lunatics is never a good idea. It would have been better had they said nothing at all about this during the Livestream than this vague, worrisome idea. It should simply be scrapped, right now. There is NO INTERATION possible where this doesn't go south. The amount of safeguard it would require to prevent abuse would end up having the DEV doing just as much work as they do now with the current, bad reporting system. For the most part, reporting should ONLY exist for bugs. That's it. What they need is:

    1. Better anti-cheat code which applies automatic bans when hacks or unsanctioned mods are detected.
    2. A system not unlike they have for disconnects to track and punish suspect lag spikes.
    3. Eliminate end game chat entirely and make people go somewhere (like here) to talk which is more easily moderated.

That's it. Eliminate all reporting except for Bugs and let the system deal with the only things that are actually against the rules. Players should never have been the first line of defense against hackers, lag spikes, and hate speech. We all know most of the things that Players get reported for are not punishable offenses, not real, and will lack any evidence to back them up. There is such a backlog of this garbage that the few real reports probably take forever to get worked (if they even do).

A report system grants the ability to "vote people off the island" to the lowest common denominator in our game. The reason there is such an immediate and passionate reaction to this, even without seeing the details, is because many of us have been through this in other game systems. It is always the same disastrous result. Can it be done? Yes. Can it be done safely and in a way that actually solves the current workload problem? No. I've already given my feedback to them and I'm not going to spend weeks in a tizzy posting about this constantly. This is probably my last post about it until we hear some details or it becomes an idea they decide against. To put this concern in perspective:

    1. I have (and so have you) already seen posts by deluded people who don't understand what is against the rules and what isn't clearly inferring they will use it against anyone they deem is tunneling or camping.
    2. Nobody has ever implemented this kind of system where it worked and stayed online. They always end up going offline, being horribly abused, or modified so much that they end up all being manual in the end anyway. In short, why create a system to lower the demands of the reporting workload that will end up being just as bad if not worse?
    3. Finally, we have all met our so-called community. Do I need to say more? :)

I'm just hoping that it will simply be a system for bringing players who are frequently reported to the support team's attention for review. Then an actual person (or people) could review the evidence and see if any sort of warning/penalty is warranted for the potential offender or if the reports should just be discarded.

It's totally okay if they are using technology to streamline support's job. It's not okay if they are using technology to replace support's job.

Exactly my thoughts. If I would have to guess, I would say it is a system which brings people who get reported a lot to someone from Support so that this person can look over that so that, in case of actual infractions, the process of banning said person can be done faster.

    This would be acceptable.

I have my doubts it is being developed as a way to streamline support as if it were, why would that be a change that the community needs to know about? Especially why would that be deemed so important to be announced on an anniversary stream?

I agree, but it's also an admission that under the current system reports aren't checked.

I'm really hoping this is just another case of them being terrible at communicating and being too vague when it comes to giving information. I'm hoping they will have something on their end that records the matches and if someone is reported it saves the recording to be reviewed. Hopefully based on people freaking out they will give more information soon. I also hope this doesn't end out with them going "see, this is why we don't share plans, you overreact with the info we share." 😒

They cant really say that IMO.

Like, you cannot just drop a bomb like that without explanation and then be surprised that the Community freaks out about it.

But again, currently I think it was really bad communication. Because they should know that players report for stuff which is not reportable (Bodyblocking is a prime example, it is fine to bodyblock a Killer to avoid a Survivor being hooked or it is fine to bodyblock as Killer to get a Hit in, yet we always see people on the Forums complain about that).
