Many people chalk this up as just so that you aren’t forced to play another character, but i think it has some ore implications. Since we know that the entity has consumed different worlds, its possible each outfit is a different universe survivor or killer. There costume is what they last wore. I’m particularly interested in Dwights cosmetics of Vigo’s apprentice and chute malfunction. The Vigo’s apprentice is what it says on the tin. He was Vigo’s apprentice. Chute malfunction leads us to believe that a more adventurous Dwight was sky diving but before he died form a chute failure, the entity captured him. The killers Blighted cosmetics are pretty well known to be different than the normal ones so i wont say anything about them

    Nope, Cosmetics aren't canon to the Story Only the blight ones are canon

    It's more a headcannon thing, if you're to look for meaning.

    Personally, if they aren't in default skins, I'll imagine they're people plucked from elsewhere so it fills the universe more. It works with killers too, since with so many being used there are bound to be replicated powers.

    Ultimately, it's down to what you imagine! It's fun to know the actual game lore, but doesn't mean you have to follow it when you play.
