Yeah, go for it. If it is in your heart, then do it.

The issue is you'll have to buy the DLC again, if you're genuinely interested, hit me up with your discord and I'll give you a code for the base game but you'll have to buy the DLCS.

There is no cross progression with accounts. You will lose everything, all of your progress and purchases, and have to start over, because you will be using a different account on a different store to play the game.

If you're patient, you can get this game for a steal. My buddy bought it for me in March, when it was on sale for $15 bucks, meaning that to fill the game with all of the DLC myself (which was also half off during the main game sale) cost roughly the same as a regular full-priced game. You really do get a lot of content for around $70 dollars.

The Steam sale happened at least once again in the mere few months since the last sale. It MAY go on sale again when the RE content officially launches. Unlike the consoles (including the Switch Lite, which I also have the game on), Steam doesn't charge for a subscription. In my opinion these factors make the Steam version the best one available. Just keep in mind that yes, while there is cross-play, there is not yet cross-PROGRESSION meaning you'll be starting from scratch and having to buy all the desired DLC as I explained above. But, again, if you weigh the cost of purchasing and refilling a second copy of the game against the yearly cost of paying for console servers, it's really not that bad.

Up to you though, of course.

Meh ive been playing dbd on ps4 since February 2018 and i havent ever had the urge to switch to pc

So its up to you, but i dont think its worth it just for the ptb you can see all the new content from youtube creators or twitch.

I was on xbox for 3 and a half years and after just 1 week on pc I couldn't go back to choppy 20 fps at best.

Shame I never got to port my save over but its been about a year and I've got most of my grind back.

That said, its nice reducing the grind by not unlocking the trash teachables this time around.

I missed that getting in on the PTB was part of the question. No, don't get the Steam version for the PTB. The RE chapter goes live for everybody in just 2 weeks if I recall correctly.

But yeah, as was said, the PC version has higher framerates which is always nice. Same game otherwise.

If you do make the switch, I recommend buying all your dlc from cdkeys. Every dlc is only a few bucks, the base game right now for me is only €4,70. Never had any problems with all the dlc I bought.

You'd have to rebuy the DLC, go through the grind you've already gone through and then some after that all for...something. I don't really see the point of getting it on Steam now if you're still gonna use the Windows Store for other things.

The only thing you're missing out on with the Windows Store AFAIK is the PTB (and mods if those count but we're not allowed to discuss them on here). Idk why you'd go through all that and spend all that money and waste all that time just so you can play a buggy version of the content that comes out 3 weeks later anyway.
