The Tunneling Lately Is Horrible
Not even DS can fix the amount of tunneling lately. Every match someone is being tunneled to death even after getting hit with DS or BT.
And with almost every match being on Coldwind, there's NOWHERE to go to get away.

eeeeeeeeehhhhhhhhhhhh

I have not noticed tunneling occurring at a rate of "every match".

Survivor unhooks lately have just been horrible. These goofballs love to unhook right in front of me and give me lots of free hits. After a few seconds wait of course.
21 -
I blame ######### rift challenges also selfishness
16 -
This is true. I play Solo queue and I can't believe how many randoms unhook directly in front of the Killer. At most, they wait until the Killer is a few paces from the hook. It's annoying. I usually run BT, but I still assess the situation to give the hooked survivor the best shot to get away. But this one guy today wasn't running BT and would race to every hook immediately to grab the save. Even if he knew I was heading over to do it. I would be waiting until the Killer left the immediate area and see this Steve zipping by me.
As @HaunterofShadows said, it might have to do with Rift challenges.

I just don't get why all challenges in the current tome aren't active. If I do 6 gens, unhook 20 survivors, stun the killer 10 times with 1 pallet and escape with an obscure perk in 1 trial I should get rewarded for all of them.

It is pretty easy to tunnel someone out of the game when survivors just unhook and disappear instead of protecting their teammates.
16 -
This.

Stop using Coldwind offerings. Rage at your teammates for not staying to protect you. Practice stealth.
All solutions to your problem. What won't help? (Not saying you did this): being mad at the Killers. They are playing to win; your fun is no concern of theirs.
1 -
It feels like survivors are starting to lose the definition of teamwork.
1 -
Thing is though, I rarely use map offerings as survivor and stealth like 70% of the time.
Ever since the ranks didn't reset on the 13th, there have been more bad players overall.

Tunneling and camping (prioxying) seems like its on the rise in most of my games. However, so are teammates dropping everything to rush for the unhook and then disappearing the minute your feet touch the ground. Now, thanks to the new struggle mechanic, you can't even die when you want to. Your teammate is sure to save you and then resume their hiding behind a tree or rock.

So what is it called then when you have Endurance, DS and being chased until the DS timer runs out after being unhooked?
2 -
Bad luck. Tunneling, traditionally defined here, is being chased by the Killer until you are dead to the exclusion of everyone else. In other words, the Killer doesn't even try for anyone else until you are gone. This is actually pretty rare. Most Survivors incorrectly identify Tunneling and Camping on a regular basis. Everyone feels "picked on" when they are being chased, and confirmation bias convinces you that somehow YOU are being Tunneled more than anyone else.

The hell? This isn't even the thread I was in when I replied (this is my first time in this thread). ????

Bubba pfp defending real instances of tunneling, not surprised.

This isn't rare. I had a game with a rank 15 Spirit (In a red rank lobby) who camped me the rest of the match on the Dead Dawg gallows because I flashlight blinded her once. Even later that day I ran into multiple Bubbas who just basement camped the first person they found.
My friend in my swf group literally gets tunneled the entire match while we pump out gens and win. It's not fun to have you or your teammate not be able to play the game.

I don't have a major problem with tunneling, but I will say killers seem to be tethered to the hook. Like literally they'll be in chase with a survivor, someone will get unhooked and they'll immediately head back to the hook.
I get it if you can't find someone, but if you're already in chase...
0 -
So if I get unhooked unsafely because my teammate is a rank 21, try to run away with BT+DS and get chased to the point my DS runs out is my fault?
2 -
Funny that you say that because...
Playing the game IS being chased. It's the only fun part of survivor.
1 -
I'm not sure if tunneling has actually increased, but the amount of people thinking that BT means the killer won't go for the person they just farmed is insane. Seriously, that's not tunneling, that's killers punishing poor behaviour just the same as survivors ought to punish camping and real tunneling by slamming gens.
9 -
Let them down you and DS them. Simple

I literally made this post because I've had so many tunnelers today and that this situation actually happened to me. I won like 2 chases because the survivor got unhooked across the map.

Don't know about tunneling but I got pretty much too many farming ones because of new rift

Like I said, confirmation bias. It is always easier on the ego to blame OTHER people for one's personal failures. They aren't playing fair, they are tunneling, they camped me, and all that jazz. I'm going to give you some tough love advice, the same which was given me when I started this game. You can't control how other people play. You have no say in the structure of the game. The only thing you have power over is yourself. Spend your energy working on what YOU can do to improve your performance. Get out of your own way. And most importantly, stop lying to yourself. We all lie best when we lie to ourselves. Lower your expectations, put your nose to the grindstone, and you will be tilted less often and start to improve. That's it. There is no secret formula or magic bullet. There will be no Deus Ex Machina from the Dev. The only thing that is going to improve you is YOU and hours played.

If you find tunneling to be a problem then bring DS, it stops tunneling at least once during a match. Now if you are upset that you get rehooked 30s after being unhooked because you were fool enough to get on a gen then you aren't being tunneled you are just making a bad play and being punished for it.

Rift challenges to "sacrifice survivors" cause killers to tunnel out survivors to guarantee atleast one sacrifice per match.
0 -
The gen rush is as well so just like survivors are getting gens quick killers are doing the same to compensate. It's been going down hill since hex ruin was changed last year, killers don't have time to play nice anymore.
4 -
thank you
2 -
I don't think they ever knew what it was to begin with.
4 -
People are tunelling because people have stopped running DS.
It's usage rate dropped from like 25 to 15%, killers are taking advantage of the fact they are significantly less likely to be punished. Run DS.
The more people that are using DS, the less killers will tunnel.

fair enough

The 3 games I played today were a hook stalk / camp Ghostface. Basement Bubba. And a Hard Tunneling Freddy (also know as a regular Freddy).
So I guess I'm taking a break for awhile.

Very good video on the subject.
2 -
What this person said, right here. If you unhook poorly and I see an opportunity to seize an advantage by killing the unhooked I will take it. The Killer is not obligated to ignore your misplays.
3 -
I literally don’t understand what’s so hard about not tunneling. And why are people even defending it? If you are a tunneler just say that
1 -
You can blame the survivor entry challenge for this.
I don't know what the devs thought of this...
In other totally unrelated news: since yesterday kill rates are looking absolutely fine.
1 -
The new rift challenge maybe? Its bs for killers that don't have nemesis or furtive chase have to tunnel to proc DS.

I don't find it happening an overwhelming amount, but it definitely isn't unusual and when it DOES happen, it really ruins enjoyment of the game - both for the one who is being tunnelled and their teammates (just makes for a boring match which then usually becomes unwinnable too so you kind of think why bother).
Had a Ghostface at Coldwind yesterday who tunnelled me - he was on me a few seconds into the match (I literally ran through the corn right into him because I didn't see which way he was coming from) and he hooked me in the shack basement. Got unhooked but he was waiting at the top of the basement stairs and downed me again while my unhooker ran past. Got unhooked and left the shack, was minding my own business opening a chest and he downed someone not far from me but instead of picking them up he went straight to me and downed me again. I instantly d/c, which is only the second time I've done it (the first time was versus a Ghostface tunneller who was tunnelling someone else and even when I deliberately tried to get in between them, still went for the one they were tunnelling who d/c so I d/c in solidarity). Not proud of it but perhaps that player will think twice about what could make an enjoyable match for EVERYONE involved in future (though I doubt it).
Camping hasn't been too bad lately though I did have a Legion who camped which again, just makes for an incredibly boring match. They were camping a teammate, I tried to draw them away but they wouldn't leave the vicinity of the hook to chase me - all the gens got done and when they hooked someone else (the first one had died on hook from the initial hook) I thought they might come for me when I was opening the gate but they still didn't leave so I just left, no point in trying for the save and giving them another kill. What doesn't make sense to me is why people play like this - it's not fun to camp a hook, and it's not fun for everyone else who just sits on gens until they are done and leaves - seriously, play a different game!

I literally don't understand what so hard about not getting downed and avoiding the hook. Why are you making excuses for it? If you are terrible at the game, just say that. :) See how ridiculous that sounds? The Killer's job is to catch and kill you. The Survivor's job is to get the Generators up, the gates open, and get out. It is not the Killer's responsibility to protect Survivors; that is the job of other Survivors. If you make unsafe rescues, don't bring appropriate Perks, and don't take protection hits, trade hooks, do rescues, sabotage hooks, or steal chases, then you are the one steering the Killer to his/her next target.
2 -
That’s literally not the same thing, you never know what people are going through so why make their gaming experience miserable? I always bring borrowed time and take hits for recently unhooked teammates but if the killer wants to tunnel they will. Nothing you can do about that. Just say that you enjoy tunneling and don’t have any sense of empathy

They are exactly the same in that they are ridiculous statements. This is the GAME. It is a PvP situation with Killers and Survivors. Their roles are clearly defined in the names. Nobody can ruin your gaming experience but you. YOU come to the game with unrealistic expectations, and expect other people to be responsible for your fun and outcome. I don't go play Tennis or go Fencing and expect my opponents to give me any gimme points. There are other games out there which are not PvP; if you need something less stressful then gravitate to one. You have two options; either reset your expectations so you can have fun playing the game as it stands now, or you can keep complaining about something and lying to yourself.
7 -
lmao i love how people are defending hard tunneling, at this point i think survivor is the weaker role.
0 -
There's nothing really wrong with it, besides you being upset you didn't get to play the game in a way you would prefer. Plus Hard Tunneling can backfire as the killer isn't pressuring other survivors.
Killers aren't bots who can be programmed to play the way you would like them to. You just gotta accept that sometimes your opponent is going to chose to play in a way that seems unfair.

TBF DS does not stop tunneling in most cases. It delays it by five seconds.
0 -
If you die quickly even with DS and BT, im very sorry to tell you that you re just bad. Not killer's or game's fault...
1 -
Since the event started I noticed I've been getting tunneled way too much. At least most of the time my team tries to protect me, but not much you can do when the killer has it out for you
