Are Michael and Laurie related in this game?
In the new Halloween, which ignores every movie but the first, the story was changed so that Michael and Laurie are not related (not a spoiler, it's mentioned casually early in the movie). So I think he just hates that she's The One That Got Away.
I'm too lazy to boot up the game (if it even says it in their bios).

He probably has a crush on her & listens to the acoustic version of katy perry's song the one that got away. So I think it's just an obsession.

Omg Michael and Katy sitting in a tree 🤭

It doesn't say much of anything in their bios, but they came out before the movie retconned their sibling relationship. So I think it's safe to assume they're siblings in DBD.

I believe this Michael and Laurie is based more on the first two original movies in 1978 and 1981, respectively. (At least, at base. I say this because there's an Add-On or two Myers has that's a nod to somethings from the book that John Carpenter helped write, which I believe is a supplement to the first movie, and we know that 2 is also considered Cannon in that light.)
So I believe they are related, however I've personally always figured with this version of Myers, it's more because she's the only person he (presumably) knows from stalking her and her friends (since we don't know when exactly the Entity took him) or because she was the last person to find things, making her a loose end to clean up- and less because he knows she's his sister. (That's just me tho, everyone has their own take.)

They are only from Halloween 1, pretty sure
it being revealed that they were related wasn't until the second film. It was also retconned in Halloween (2018)

Hmmm interesting. Thanks for the replies!
I was initially opposed to the change in the new film but overall I guess it doesn't really change much. I think maybe even the less "motivation" Michael has, the better. Some people are just born that way.

In my opinion, Michael being motivated by nothing but pure evil and obsession is much more satisfying as there's a lot of fear in the unknown
I think the sequels wanted to expand more on the characters so they added the sibiling route to raise the stakes
Halloween 2's not a bad film though, a worthy follow up to the original.

I don't think so.
Myers and Laurie are both based strictly on Halloween 1, and the twist that they're siblings was only revealed in Halloween 2.

John Carpenter was also never really happy with that twist, either from what I’ve heard. It detracts from the idea and terror that his murder spree is completely motiveless and without reason.

It's been a while since I've seen the movies but I think Laurie is his step sister, so I'd assume it's the same in the game if that's their lore.

The basis for the Halloween chapter is directly the 1978 original, which did not introduce the sibling plot. you can interpret it both ways since the old sequels and the recent trilogy take it both directions. Considering the first film doesn't even go with the relation, it is safe to say they are not related.

Only Halloween 1 is canon for the Myers and Laurie we have here so the answer is no, they're not related.
Which is a shame cuz having two siblings in the game one as survivor and one as killer would be very interesting imo.

My understanding is that Michael still believes that they’re related.
