Why do people bodyblock?
![papichulo](https://forums.bhvr.com/applications/dashboard/design/images/banned.png)
BHVR have soe consideration that repots don't do anything because people will bodyblock and it is hard for killers to just engage in normal games. I understand saving teammates is important but why in such way? I want to buff reports so they are red clearly.

So you report people who bodyblock and not in any way hold the game hostage?

Body blocking is a reliable strategy at times and is not reportable at all as long as no one is holding you hostage. If you don’t like it, learn to play around it.
4 -
this is why
4 -
Because it's actively helping the team?
You've never seen a game or movie where a heroic character throws their self infront of an incoming threat to protect their vulnerable friends?
4 -
Hit them.
A bunch of injured survivors could lead to a snowball.

Bodyblocking is only reportable if they’re taking the game hostage. Taking a hit for a teammate is NOT reportable, it’s what good teammates do during EGC if they’re full health. Maybe instead of calling people names, you should read the rules?

You do realise that bodyblocking to save a teammate is fine, right? The only time it would be bannable is if a killer or another survivor were to trap a survivor in a spot that they can't leave, and keep them there for an extended period of time.
Protection hits are a part of the game, hell, there's even perks designed around them. They are FAR from bannable. Quit wasting support's time and only report people for actual bannable offenses.

Survivors blocking the Killer is not reportable, stop acting like it is. It's only reportable when Survivors block each other (sandbagging) or the Killer blocks the Survivors in a corner (holding them hostage).

What they did is they trapped me in the corner while crouching next to an exit gate while a crouched survivor goes towards the exit.

The body blocking that can be reported is the type where you are standing in a corner or in a room with one exit and someone comes and blocks you from leaving. Body blocking the killer from the hook isn't the same thing. Heck, body blocking a killer into a corner doesn't count either since the killer can down you or just hit you and lose collision for a few seconds.

I bodyblock a killer often to break up a tunnel or try to defend a teammate who's on death hook. And neither examples are reportable.
1 -
Because it is a legitimate strategy (blocking the killer from downing someone else and prevent him from going to the hook can help the team a lot) and devs have already said it is not reportable (its even listed on the rules here as something that is not reportable as it is considered a strategy) unless it takes the game hostage for too long.

If it's that much of a problem, bring Mad Grit.

How would a killer get bodyblocked in a corner if all they have to do is hit a survivor to make them incorporeal?
And a survivor covering another survivor for example after unhooking them is the right use of bodyblocking.
2 -
Were you the killer bodyblocked by a survivor(s)? Press M1 to hit a survivor that is bodyblocking you, not only you will injure them, but they will lose collision with you and you'll be able to pass right through them
Were you a survivor bodyblocked by another survivor(s)? That COULD be reportable, depending on the case, like if the end game collapse wasn't started yet and they did it for a long period of time

If you are referring to survivors who bodyblock I find the perk Starstruck pretty effective in dealing with survivors who bodyblock.
If you are referring to a killer who it depends on if the survivors can finish the match in some way whether it be by going through escaping or by being sacrificed by the killer. The video linked below shows an example killer holding a match hostage by bodyblocking.

Poor killer mains, getting blocked in a corner by bad survivor. If only there was a button that the killer could press that would remove the collision.

Just hit them.
1 -
Uh. What type? When a survivor runs behind an injured survivor and takes the hit or full on preventing survivors from leaving corners?

Were you playing killer or were they your teammates. If they were your teammates, it is a reportable offense, though, you'd have to have video evidence. If you were killer, then it technically isn't holding you hostage since all you had to do is hit the survivor to be freed.

I'm pretty sure the only type of bodyblocking that is reportable is when survivors do it to eachother for griefing purposes like trappying someone in that back room on the game map.

It's not fun, but neither is slugging.
Both are necessary sometimes.

Why dont you just hit them?
I bodyblock when the killer is tunneling someone. I've had a few killers who stubbornly try to go around me and waste huge amount of time because they refuse to hit me. Why tho.

Endgame will kill you then. Its only bannable if you're the last survivor and the killer won't leave to close hatch or open the gate so the game cannot end. It was a smart play by him, honestly. Does is suck? Yes, it does but never stand in a corner if the killer thinks you're there.

Killers complaining about a survivor strategy that gives free hits

Stacks and to try save teammates.

Mettle of Man and WGLF are perks built around doing bodyblocks, there's even points for taking "protection hits". Put simply, they do it because they can.

there's nothing wrong with survivors bodyblocking killers that are trying to hook.
