This is the worst advice I’ve heard 🤣 there is no counter spirit and tell me that’s balanced? You can’t have skill against a spirit. She can cut you off through her phase.. tell me that’s fair?

How to Counter Spirit:
Step 1: Play Trapper, Wraith, Hillbilly, Nurse, Hag, Doctor, Huntress, Myers, Bubba, Freddy, Pig, Clown, Spirit herself, Legion, Plague, Ghostface, Best Dog Demo, Oni, Deathslinger, Pyramid Head, Blight, Twins, Trickster or Nemesis.
Step 2: You are now safe from Spirit killing you. Get countered!

Tell me you can understand blatant satire...?

Dam why didnt i think of this

Why nobody has thought about it before?

this is sarcasm, one of the best lol

whoosh

You're incorrect. Spirit will always follow you on your worst nightmares where even Freddy shits his pants
4 -
That won't work. The best way to counter spirit is when you think she's phasing, open up the pause menu and press the "leave match" button. Then she can't down you.

How to counter Spirit.
- Play Spirit. If you can't beat them join them.

Spirit is not that hard to counter. I play Spirit on occasion and it is surprising the number of times survivors give away there location by not doing a pretty straightforward counter. Just don't run. It's like they are in such a hurry to gen rush they don't want to do something as simple as not run.
Survivors playing as Claudette can be downright humorous. They have a tendency to give away there location more than someone playing as any other survivor. Perhaps they are just overconfident.
Getting caught in a loop is also not that hard to counter. If she stops chasing and stands still immediately leave the loop.

Doesn't matter. These things mean nothing to even semi decent spirits

I will have to disagree. Can't tell you how many times I have gone through a match without being caught by a killer playing the Spirit until after all the other survivors have been sacrificed if it even gets tot he point the other survivors get sacrificed. Even against purple and red rank killers.
It's not like I am hiding and not doing the generators or anything either. I just don't run if I hear the sound of the spirit approaching while phased. I crouch and start moving away. Easier to do if another survivor is present and runs however it works a lot of the time even if I am alone on a generator.
When going against eh Spirit I usually see the match end in one the following ways.
- The generators get repaired and at least some(or all) of the survivors escape,
- The other survivors get sacrificed(or disconnect). I find the hatch and escape.
- The other survivors get sacrificed(or disconnect). The killer finds the hatch and closes it, catches me before I can open an exit gate and I get sacrificed.
- The killer lets me go.

Imagine getting angry over a spirit that has good potential, I call this Sluzzy Bait. 😫

Counter to spirit (legit strategy):run like headless chicken and if it works it works
Obviously sarcasm but some ppl do really accept that as counterplay

imagine not running as counter and spirit is not hard to counter, this must works with all killer

So you go against trash.
That doesn't mean anything.
I don't even play Spirit. Maybe twice a month. And I always win easily, just because I have a headset. Scratch marks aren't how Spirit tracks. She tracks by sound. And so, to counter her, you need IW. But even if you have IW, she has Stridor, making it even easier for her to find you. She has no counters.
1 -
You're a genius.
1 -
"your spirit is trash youdonnevenknow"
There is no COUNTER to your argument because you refuse to believe that anyone has faced a gud spirit except you. Also, it assumes the people you're speaking with are not as gud as you.
It's pretty flawed and doesn't present a compelling argument to defend your belief. You essential are telling people they are not entitled to an opinion in this discussion or it holds no value next to yours.

There's no counter to my argument because it's common knowledge that she doesn't have counterplay.
And I'm right as well. Their "counterplay" is just not leaving scratch marks, which isn't counterplay at all, and it does nothing against an even semi decent Spirit. As I said, she tracks by sound, and since most Spirits use Stridor, she has no counterplay even if you're running the counter perk.
And this isn't about opinion. I'm keeping opinion out of this. My opinion is that she can be really fun to go against. However, I also know that she has no counters, which is what this is about. Her not having counterplay isn't an opinion, it's objective.
I don't need a compelling argument, nor do I have the time to make one. That's not my job. If you want someone to do that then go to Scott Jund.

Common knowledge kind of implies everyone agrees, which clearly they don't.
But you used sound as a means to track so we'll shoot from there. A common tactic people use is dropping pallets when in phase or fast vault to a slow vault and vice versa. That's not even using perks. Wouldn't that be a counter?
Phase is a limited ability and eventually a spirit has to make a read. They can't just stay in phase till they know they get you.
I like playing against spirit. It's a different set of techniques needed to combat her power. Some times I do well, sometimes I get crushed but that is how the game is intended to be. 1v1 a survivor should never be immune to any killer because it's a 4v1 game.
0 -
I also like playing against her as I don't like normal looping. A perfect example of this is how my favorite killer to go against is Nurse, who I main. You're completely right that a survivor shouldn't be immune to a killer, but killers shouldn't be uncounterable either.
When I say common knowledge, I mean that people generally agree with that. Most players, including popular content creators such as Scott Jund, Ussylis, Ayrun, and Otz, agree with that, as well as long time players like myself. I said those specific four because they are the best of the best on the side that they main. Otz and Scott for killer, Ussylis and Ayrun for survivor.
Now you're right to a degree about using sound fakeouts and pallets. For example, the one guy Scott went against dropped as many pallets as possible to stay healthy, and therefore made him guess. However, this only works in a competitive setting, where you can afford to waste that many pallets because the game will end in 5 minutes max. That isn't an example of counterplay, because that just isn't possible in a normal solo queue or even SWF game. Not to mention the fact that it's still a guess even with that. If the Spirit guesses correctly even once, your entire team dies because all of the pallets are gone. These two factors make this tactic less effective than just holding W.
About sound fakeouts, I'd actually be fine with Spirit staying the way she is if they made these more reliable. What I'm talking about, of course, is the fact that slow vaults still makes noise. Anyone with a good headset can hear the survivor grunt quietly and hear their feet touch the ground. If slow vaults made no noise at all, this would be a form of counterplay.
I have a feeling that you're going to being up crouching next, so I'm going to disprove that right now. Crouching lowers the survivors noises by a lot. However, you still make noise, so you can't always crouch or she'll find you. This is why people crouch inconsistently to make the sound more confusing. However, a smart Spirit will stop phasing the second you get quieter. She'll hit you no matter what in that situation because if she's close enough to hear you while crouching, she can hit you with her post phase lunge from the distance of the front door to shack to the window.
I'm not saying that she isn't fun to go against (mostly), but I am saying that she has no counterplay, and needs some to be fair.

As many have tried to explain to you there are counters against Spirit. Your claim other wise raises questions on the validity of everything you have said. Do you have a source that Scott Lund and the others would agree you as well as game footage of you and a match to back you up?
Or perhaps you could invite some of us to a match so we could see first hand. The survivors using there counters and you showing us how you overcome them. The match could be streamed and recorded.

I love how you typed the lettering of your headline. It's the equivalent of the way TrU3Ta1ent used that silly voice he made. Be careful the Devs don't kick you out for mocking the disabled *cue eyeroll*

just see scott jund challenge, even tournament players said she has no counter unless you're the best 0.1% dbd player that can counter spirit

I think most people's problem with spirit is the fact that they can't be bothered trying to learn how to counter her.
2 -
It's called having ears.
Come up with different "counters" because I proved all of the ones you listed don't work.
I'm down for a game, but it might take a few months, as my PS4 broke and I'm trying to get a PS5, and who knows how long that's going to take. So that is currently out of the question, unfortunately.
Every content creator I listed shares my opinion and they have said so themselves. I don't play Spirit much, so I don't make videos on her.
Just because she can be fun to go against doesn't mean that she has counterplay. I think you're blinded by your enjoyment of her.

Here's the thing, people have been trying to find a consistent counter since Spirit's inception.
And so far the only one we have is throwing most pallets super early, which is by the way really bad for late game.
Then there's Iron Will, but you can't expect to go against Spirit in every match.
Have you actually fought against a good spirit? All of her weaknesses are not even that impactful once you realize survivors breath louder when they recently ran.

If she stops chasing and stands still immediately leave the loop.
@jaredlxxiii do you mean leaving by walking or running?

Walking
0 -
Thing is
(1) She standing still doesnt mean she starts to phase. She may still looking at your movement behaviour. You dont know when she starts "not able to see you". Which you dont know the moment you should change direction. And you mostly have 3sec to decide what to do when she starts standing still until she post phase attack.
If you success (1)
(2) You walking with 57% while she's phasing with 176%. With 3sec to "react", you barely walked 6m. While she phased 10m. Unless you're healthy, you're pretty dead if injured.
If you success (2)
(3) Perhaps you make some distance. If she has some kind of increase phasing time & faster recharge addon. She will chase you for 5sec to recharge her power. Then continue to catch up with 176% speed phase.
No matter how hard she fail, she gets no punished.
0 -
Nope, you see. If you suddenly start walking when your being chased. Spirit already knows you near the end of the scratch marks.
All she has to do is unphases then check around. It's redundant.
Double Backing isn't a good idea either because often the spirit unphases as soon the scratch marks disappear.
0 -
Not if you do it right she doesn't. Have done it this way many times and it works.
0 -
You can't "do" it right.
An experienced Spirit already knows your walking, a newer Spirit will probably fall for it more often.
0 -
Your not trying to make distance your trying to get her to lose you. Just find a place to hide. Doesn't even have to be far just a place to hide. Granted it won't work every time however it does work a lot of the time.
0 -
You need to crouch, when she's in front of you and she starts phasing just crouch. Trust & believe.
1 -
Yes I know this move

YouTube has several videos that explain how to counter her and the methods don't work every time however they do work a lot of the time. Even against purple and red ranks. Try them. If you do them correctly a lot of the time you can confuse her and lose her even when going against higher rank killers.

I know this is a meme post. Im spirit main and I know that ace doesnt counter spirit or any other killer, his built in IW isnt a literal IW, he makes a TON of noise and then he is quiet, he makes TON of noise and then quiet... Whats the point of Up the ante with salty lips? you want to try to get out of the hook? You need 4 Up the ante, 4 salty lips to make it safe to try to escape the hook, without that, you might just be killing yourself.

I counter Spirit by offering her a free deep conditioning treatment on her wayward hair.
But I tell her that her hair is stunning and that I want her to feel pretty that day :) . After which, maybe she'll let me go.
