Killer specific MMR can be abused what a surprise!
Just because I can play clown well doesn’t mean I can’t play pig decently

Its mmr. Its not instant.

I'm not sure why they don't do a combined Killer MMR and then have modifiers for each individual killer.
12 -
What do you mean? Could you explain, I'm confused... Like, you rarely played Pig before but you know how to play her regardless?
1 -
I think the mmr for killer is for every individual killer.
So the more you play 1 killer the more mmr you get for said killer.
You play with a killer that you don't play much or barely, you get easier prey 😉
4 -
Yep, said this a long time ago.
But you know, I don't have Adept Trickster yet. In fact, I haven't played a single match with him yet. 😈
6 -
Wait in that case can I abuse the system to get piss easy killer adepts?
22 -
Could someone explain to me what just happened in the picture how does the rank 4 get paired with yellow ranks?
1 -
There’s a lot of transferable skills between m1 killers such as when to abandon chase general looping knowledge etc
By putting me against rank 20s as pig who I can play decently well since my overall game skill is decent it’s a stomp as expected
4 -
Mmr.

The problem with that is outside of 1 or 2 killers every dbd killer plays the same at a base level.
A pro Huntress playing Demo for the first time is still going to know how to win a chase and play tiles. But it'll put them against week 1 baby survivors.
2 -
But why is the mmr comparing a red to yellow? What information is it going off of to make such a difference in skill? Sorry I'm just new and don't understand how it works yet.

The devs should really have a system that calculates how hard a killer is to play. Obviously Pig is very simple and has skills that can be transferred from any other M1 killer.
1 -
Eww Pig.
Could only be abused for so long for every Killer since crushing noobs will shoot your MMR up.
3 -
MMR doesn't look at rank. It compares essentially an elo score. If you don't normally play a killer, their score will be very low.
1 -
I think it unnecessary entirely tbh. Only 2 killers play different enough to warrant it and after a couple of matches you have the hang of them anyway
Not like playing against noobs is going to help you improve anyway
0 -
Oh okay thank you for clearing that up. Makes sense now
0 -
Yeah I agree. This system is going to cause so much trouble and give newer players a worse experience. The devs already balance the game around newer players so about every match will be all over the place in terms of how balanced it is.

I see... Thanks for answering me. I was hoping MMR would be great, but I guess everything has flaws...
0 -
In my defence I've mained Pyramid Head for almost a year now and I still got put with <200 hour players
2 -
Which is necessary sometimes, sadly.

Maybe play a bit more and the MMR will adjust
/s

ik ik my bad im sorry for sinning mr oni man

Another issue with the separate MMR for killers is when we get new killers.
Low MMR players will only face the new killer when they release while High MMR players won't start seeing the new killer til a couple days later. when players using the new killer get their MMR up.
Especially when the new chapter is licensed and draws in new players. Not going to be a good way to keep new players if their first experience into the game is facing people with 1000s of hours trying out a new killer.
3 -
And if you continue to play Pig, and have the same results, you'll get harder and harder matches. That's what is supposed to happen.
Everybody is losing their minds after one or two matches. smh
3 -
If ranks were hidden, as they would be once SBMM goes live, as ranks are obsolete with that, this wouldn't really be a problem.
The SBMM does what it is intended to do. If you never play Pig, it doesn't have a rating for her yet, so it'll assume you're not very skilled at Pig and give you an easy game at first. It will take a handful of trials before the SBMM will adjust and you'll get proper matches.
Give it some effing time.
2 -
Yeah I know.
I kinda forgot about the title of the post lol.
Just having a bad day, so I'm not that focused today 😅

Possibly survivors can have different rank based on what killer they are facing. Then you don't have problem with new killers.
0 -
But these matches are still really unfun for newer players to a point where they might quit. The new player experience will be worse and for a very minimal gain imo
2 -
but didnt they say they were working on an overall MMR rating aswell that would rank your overall killers even if you didnt play them?
i know they at the very least acknowledged this way before this test even started, so i guess its just not been implemented yet?
1 -
So nice of u giving at least the hatch to the last one.I take it it didn't take u long till u realise they were bad anyway.

Exploit the system? This mmr matches me consistently against complete beginners with my main killer (rank1 billy that i play a lot). First time today i even played several people with 0 hours. I slugged my way through countless lobbies today, no change in the matchmaking.
For some reason, god knows why, this mmr seems to think it is good to match me against 4 beginner survivor every game (all games end very quick in 4ks, most with 0 gens done)
4 -
Its the amount of killer/survivor played and if you don't have enough points in MMR, it throws you to the wolves to see what skill you should have. Since the person never really played Pig much, it gave them an easy match to see. After that, they'll get harder and harder matches until its almost even with kills/escapes. It takes a few matches to get it and since survivor skill is universal, it's kept at the same level but killer skill fluctuates when it comes to different killers since each killer is different with different powers. You might be a God Freddy but a ######### Plague. It wouldn't be fair to throw you to a bunch of Rank 1's as a baby Plague but as Freddy, you'll get some damn hard matches as him until you lose a lot then it'll lower your score to find a better match for you next time. Hope that helps.

I actually think it has to be this way to an extent (note, extent). Killers do ultimately have unique abilities where switching from one to another can be disastrous. What needs to happen is that there's a baseline MMR for 4.6 m/s killers.
0 -
I think the MMR takes into consideration how many chases you go on. If you're using your chainsaw I don't feel it judges you correctly. From what I can tell it's an issue with billy and canibal. Try playing a few games without using the chainsaw to get downs and see if the matchmaking improves.

Yeah, I don't really care about the new players in this scenario.
0 -
I’ve played about 8 matches with clown now (my main who I play a lot) and I’m getting rank 15’s. I know rank doesn’t indicate skill but they weren’t very good anyway
New players should feel welcomed into this game and I can’t imagine what it must feel like to be destroy multiple times because someone “doesn’t know how to play pig” when her fundamentals are literally the same as most other killers
1 -
I agree that the SBMM should take your current rank at least somewhat into account to create a base score for killers you don't play often, but still, I disagree that the game should once again be held back for the sake of newcomers.
0 -
We aren’t really holding much back here. If MMR intends to make balanced matches like it should then new players should be matched against other new players simple as
4 -
New players are still players who deserve a fair experience. If matchmaking is constantly throwing them against highly experienced killers because that highly experienced player just bought a new killer, then MMR is failing to give them appropriate matches and they're being used as some guinea pig/punching bag hybrid for the rest of the playerbase to hone their teeth on. (It's also a horrible design philosophy because people are likeliest to commit or quit in their first stretch of playing the game - if they get throttled nonstop, most newcomers will not stick with DBD, which is not something BHVR wants.)
There really should be a floor based off of your average performance, so you don't start out on grey ranks with new killers unless you're grey/yellow normally in performance. The floor should be perhaps midway between your average performance and rock bottom. Maybe Nurse can be her own exception, because many basic skills don't apply, but I shouldn't get rank 20s just because it's my first Demo match. Yeah, it took me half the match to figure out how to use Shred and his portals don't work like I thought they did, but none of that matters because I still know how and when to chase people as a 115 killer, and the survivors I'm being pitted against don't know the map, what the difference is between a dull totem and a hex totem, or why they should be unhooking people. Those survivors should be up against equally confused killers.
1 -
That is hardly a surprise, to be honest.
I literally played only 1 match today, and managed to get paired with bad survivors against an experienced Blight.
1 -
We’re still not accounting for when the system has to expand its search for players available to lobby up. Perhaps there simply isn’t as large a pool of new killers as there is survivors.
4 -
Yeah.. No thanks...
Im getting constantly matched against R 15-20 survivors, absolute newbies and i feel so sorry for them.. What a absolute sh*t experience that must be for new players right now.
I refuse to play killer til this ends.
2 -
May be a ######### Plague but a good M1 killer if good with Freddy. No really fair to throw that wolf in with sheep.
2 -
It doesn't. I just tried adept Trickster and got rank 20s. 1st match I ever played with him.
0 -
I like the MMR system. I'm playing killers i have never played before, i'm not good at and i don't feel like i'm being punished for it. The more players play killers and the better the get the higher the ranks. The problem with MMR is that everyone can see player rank and think that is what matters even though they say otherwise. Ranks should be removed or hidden honestly, that is the only way to get a fair test. Until then the survivor died because the killer was red rank. yes. that's it. wasn't their fault.
3 -
Once they play a few games, it'll even out with that killer. It all takes time.
0 -
I'd be scared if just takes a few games to go from bottom MMR to top MMR.
0 -
It'll get you out of the new players area and high level area if you're not a high level player.
0 -
A good Killer player is a good Killer player on any Killer. We know this to be true.
2 -
Instead of you being punished for playing new killers new players are being punished. If I can play clown well I can play Freddy well there is no need for completely different MMR scores for them
