Hard fact about mmr.
Mmr starts at 0. Each killer you have starts at 0 mmr. So naturally, youre gonna go against easier teams until you eventually dont. It doesnt mean its not working, right now it means youre impatient. So chill out. Play some games. And relax. Or don't, then come to the forum and complain so i can laugh at people who dont know how mmr works.

According to the devs, the system is supposed to have taken in measurements before it was activated. Where do you get "MMR starts at 0" from?

It's individual for each killer.
If you play a killer you've never played before, or very little, or not for a long time (so that your experience with it falls outside of the window the data collection covers) it's going to be a 0.

Literally launching dbd will ruin the new player experience. Who are we kidding. The tutorial is out of date. Game is way complex then what can actually be taught. And way to much grind and perks. But yes. Mmr will ruin it.

I think they should have given a starting number of points based on current rank or rank at last reset or something. Would have been nice.
I really don't want to have to play 10 games against absolute potatos every time I play a different killer.

Thats valid but like placement matches happen in most mmr games. So you may get potatoes. You may get gods.

that was the first thing I tried was killers I rarely and I truly mean rarely used and still got nothing but rank 1-2's with a couple 3's sprinkled in here and there. Which is what i play on a normal basis with my mains/any killer so what's the difference? Sounds like you either get sweatfest or easy mode both suck and I was already on break from the game but wanted to check out the MMR.

Those survs could of been near those killers mmr. Which happens. Unfortunately. For example last night i got a nurse where i destroyed with a sabobuild. Turns out they were rank 10. (Ranks dont matter) game before that i got destroyed by a clown. Its gonna take a min to get stablized

Semantics are in every argument. What it means is gathering data. How are they gathering data if they dont have a point to start trom? That point to start from would have to be baseline. Baseline = 0.
If youre gonna come at me with such a weaksauce argument and then try to attack my character, do better. If not. Then pls do not waste my time.

To be clear, you're saying that:
- MMR necessarily has to start everyone at zero
- The devs have been gathering MMR data for months in preparation for this test
- Despite having months of data, they decided to reset everyone's MMR anyway (i.e.: throw away months of data-gathering) so everyone starts at 0 anyway
Do I have that right? Does that seem reasonable to you?

Pretty sure the devs have stated your individual killer mmr does not start at zero but will take the mmrs from other killers you have already played into account.
you don’t know why those mismatches happen, you don’t know your own mir nor the one of your opponents. You don’t know if the disparity of mmr in a match is due to queue times/available players at that moment. MMR also tries to ‚predict‘ the outcome of a match based on the mmr. Maybe with those matches it was predicted that the match would be in favor of one side. Maybe this is something they purposefully do for testing reasons.

While you make good points let me counter.
While mmr doesnt have to start at zero, it does have to start at a baseline which can equal to zero. While yes, they gathered data for months, what could they possibly do with that data with match making all over the place? Therefore is highly likely your mmr would be zero. Esp on killers you hardly play.
No, i dont think they threw away that data, but i believe that data cant be used in this test because of the fact matchmaking was all over the place. Their data gathering can mean a bunch of things, from mmr ratings, to rating changes, to even guage what killers preform how good where. Or even how to score the mmr. Just killing shouldnt do it. Or just escaping.
What im saying is likely, the mmr has to start at a baseline. Always. Baseline can = zero (like wow mmr for example) and each match you win you gain mmr to face more skilled opponents.
So let me ask you a question: do you think its likely, they gathered data to give people ratings on the matches during the test (which if they did. They failed) or a bunch of things in mmr, like the best way to score mmr gains and losses and everyone starts at a baseline mmr? (Baseline = zero)

Just calling something a fact does not make it a fact. That's not how it works.

That's a common phrase being thrown around every time one of these test come out (Rank dont matter). When a bunch of rank 20's get smacked by a rank 1 killer guess those ranks don't matter, when a group of red rank survivors bully a rank 13 killer all game guess that don't matter. You don't get to rank 1 by being completely trash/useless. Are there rank 1's better than other rank 1's sure. Are there a FEW people who are good but don't play often so there rank don't reflect it sure but not enough to have mismatches like this. RANK don't matter had they reset everyone to 20 when this test came out but they didn't we are all right where we were. Most that were effected by that bug have got back to were they were by now it's been a month. Sorry rank matters most of the time.

Thanks for all the feedback you’ve been providing thus far on the MMR Test that’s going on.
We’ve made adjustments since the previous tests and this has meant that the data collected was reset for this particular test. In view of that, you might find more disparity between your matches initially (especially with killers that you’ve not played much of recently) but with continued play these matches should balance out as the system adjusts to what is happening live, resulting in more balanced matches.
We will be continuing to monitor and welcome your further feedback.

Yes. It's a brilliant system. At 3k hrs, I should obviously get 100 hr players on Trapper because I never play him even though I get red ranks on other M1s. Much logic. Very fun for those players.

its making the game worse for experienced players aswell. it had its problem with the playerbase being sweaty, at times right, but this MMR is making it so u only match with THOSE SWEATY asfuk players everytime if your actually decent at the game. your never gonna get a match every again against killers who use anything different and vice versa for survivors. a sweat match with EXTRA SWEAT ONTOP because of MMR.
