A neat suggestion for the geography improvements on the maps
Make the edges of the map unique for each map. Having the edge of the map be a stone wall is neat. But contributes to the flatness by letting us see where the map disappears.
For the macmillan estate you could have rock slopes be the edge of the map to give more credence to fact that the macmillan estate is in the mountains. With the exit gate being a tunnel through the mountain.
Autohaven could have a chain link fence with barbed wire on it. With a thick forest blocking our view of the dropoff. The exit gate would be a a rolling chain link gate, the lever would be on a guard booth.
Coldwind could have thick underbrush and forest, with the occassional piece of shoddy wooden fence. Don't know what the exit areas would look like though.

That's something I hadn't actually thought about for some reason. Idk if there's a lOrE explanation as to why it's just a brick wall but it is a little boring. Themed walls is a neat idea though that I'm surprised they didn't think of doing for the map reworks. I also thought maybe it could be the entity itself surrounding the map, so it's just a big black entity-looking wall that's animated.

Originally it was just the macmillan estate in dbd. It was the first map to have assets fully made, and BHVR was very fond of reusing assets back then. So the stone walls stuck around for a very long time. Even in maps that severely mismatched that theme.
Then macmillan estate was remade, and the stone walls with them. But at least with some of the maps we have variation in the boundary.
