What’s your least favourite DBD license?
I haven’t seen Ash outside of DBD, so I won’t include him. My least favourite license of DBD is Texas Chainsaw Massacre, I am a huge horror fan and absolutely despise almost every aspect of that movie.

I agree with you. Texas Chainsaw was such a bad movie that it baffles me that anyone considers it a classic, cult or otherwise, and the Killer is just less difficult Billy. Perks are great though.

Agreed, all the friends are extremely boring. The second half is just a scream fest, no idea how it’s in the same conversation with incredible films like Halloween.

I hate everything related to the silent hill licence
The map is utter garbage, indoor because that seems to be the way to go right, that promotes boring gameplay with zero chase interaction from both sides
The killer is one of the most unhealthy additions to the game ever, maybe fun to play but absolutely disgusting to face
Cheryl introduced legendary sets, that cost a lot more but with the same voice actor because reasons

I guess Ghostface. I know BHVR wanted to make their own version but adding Sidney in would've been 100x more amazing & worth it since she's the star of the movies. I mean hell, he didn't even get his own map. Might've not been fully up to BHVR but that sucks.
Oh yeah, on top of that we also got his broken reveal mechanic that still needs to be fixed. Can't reveal him if you're staring right at him but you get revealed behind a wall if you're playing him. Definitely needs to be reworked.

This is only related to the original, as I would never watch anymore.
All the teen survivor characters are either boring or annoying, and despite the fact that nothing happens in the first half, none of this time is effectively used to develop the characters. The final girl is one of the worst examples of that trope ever, she has nothing interesting going for her.
The first half is completely dull, and the second was almost just as bad. I don’t mind the Sawyer family at all, they were decent villains. The issue is the nonstop screaming piercing my ears, it’s literally just meant to shock.

My vote goes to Saw, because the only other licenses here I personally knew were Stranger Things, L4D, Silent Hill, and Resident Evil (I also known about Halloween and NoES, but I don't count those I never seen a movie in the series before) and there's no way I'll put Stranger Things, L4D, Silent Hill, or Resident Evil in my least favorite license in DBD.
If you meant least favorite DBD License (as in how they are implemented in the game) then by no competition Silent Hill (sets were the worst thing to happen in this game, and Konami is why we have it. Thanks)

Nightmare On Elm Street is debatably the worst chapter in the game.
Even if Leatherface's was quite a bit more disappointing due to the lack of a map/Survivor.

Whilst I don't despise it, I am of the opinion that TCM is vastly overrated.
Some of the scenes with Leatherface (hammer/door slam for example) are good, but overall it has a mediocre feel. It's honestly nothing special. Films like TCM were and are 10 a penny. I prefer the 2003 Wrong Turn to TCM.
As for my 'worst' license...I suppose it would be Left 4 Dead. I'm a playstation user and have never played a L4D game.
But I am well informed with the others included. I would say from the remaining licences, A Nightmare On Elm Street. The remake is a weak film.

Ash vs Evil Dead, it's not memorable, there's no killer, there's no map, and the perks are garbage. I literally keep forgetting Ash is even in the game and I don't like playing him.

Bummer, the first three Saw movies are actually a really good, very interesting trilogy. They're not really horror so much as thrillers to me. Nothing scary about them, just a cool story with some great twists and imaginative kills.
Really?? To each their own, I find the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974) to be one of the most effective horror movies of all time. The last ten minutes of that movie are a marathon, and the final shot, which I will not give away, is just a masterpiece. So many emotions, such a roller coaster, that beautiful dusky shot, and then BOOM - cut to credits, nightmare is over.
My least favorite license is A Nightmare on Elm Street. Not because DBD did anything wrong in acquiring it, but because WB is so dead-set on shoving the universally despised remake Freddy down everybody's throats. I don't care how many times I see Jackie Earl Haley as Freddy, I don't care how good a job he did. He isn't Freddy. He doesn't look like Freddy. He looks like someone wearing a cheesy flea market "KNIFE FINGER MAN" knockoff Freddy costume purchased from a grocery store. Robert Englund is Freddy, and it's not just fealty to the actor. It's the fact that...well, Robert Englund is Freddy.
It doesn't help that they also ran with making Freddy's levels take place at "Badham", wherever the hell that is. Not even Springwood (which itself is stupid, as the first movie clearly took place in California and NOT Ohio). What's with the level design? Why is the preschool a single room the size of a jail cell surrounded by what appear to a handful of closets? Why was this design replicated four more times for a total of five maps? (Freddy feels SOOOOO much more natural and exciting to face on Midwich.) Why is Freddy so ######### tedious to face? Why is he able to hurt me when I'm not asleep? Isn't that completely against the very concept of the character? Why are his powers so simplistic and awkward? Why does the pack come with a monster that was accidentally listed as a survivor?
He and the Trickster are the only killers I haven't bought, and I LOVE 4 or 5 of the REAL Elm Street films. This reimagined crap, on the other hand, is for the birds.

Eh, NOES has an iconic and strong (if boring and gutted in the unique department) killer, Blood Warden, Badham and rat boy. Not one of the best chapters, but nowhere near the worst.
That honour would probably go to either A Binding of Kin, All-Kill or Darkness Among Us. I'd have to go with Binding of Kin, because as much as I enjoy Twins on both sides, the chapter was broken on release in every regard, has largely worthless perks and an extremely controversial and basically extinct killer. And no new map.

This was another iffy addition to DBD. Like Leatherface, it could of been so much more with a full chapter.
We'll have to wait for the Evil Dead game for the full experience.
On a side note, I feel Ash vs Evil Dead was more miss than hit and the original Evil Dead films weren't classics.

It wasn't up to them at all, they obtained the license to the actual costume itself, not anything related to or about the movie series. I think it was done to save money because of massive difference of cost between getting the license for the series and just getting the rights to the costume. It's a shame it wasn't a full chapter, but I do think that they did a good job with him as a killer. As an added bonus we get to have extra cosmetics for ghostie, whereas if they got the series license they would likely have way less leg room with that. Tradeoffs ig

Unfortunately, the NOES Chapter we got was based off of the nowhere near as impactful remake, with one of the least interesting Killers in the game. I would much prefer an interesting Killer who's underpowered over a very bland, uninspired Killer who's high mid tier.
Blood Warden is fun but insanely situational, and Freddy's other perks are even worse. Badham is one of the worst realms in the game because it's boring as ######### for both sides and shows up way more often than it should. Quentin and his perks are awful.
As bad as A Binding Of Kin and All-Kill are, they do have merits in my opinion. I'd prefer no new map to an inevitably annoying and unfun map and both of the Survivors released with these chapters were great, with some interesting perks between the two of them.
Also, I think Darkness Among Us is very underappreciated. With one of the best Survivors ever and a fairly balanced map (the size is the only real issue with this map imo), the only issue is that Legion and his perks were underwhelming for the most part.
Nightmare On Elm Street has no merit outside of the fact that it is a license. If you were to ask me one chapter that I'd delete, it'd be this one.

I'd much rather have a new map & survivor rather than skins, but that's just me. I think Ghostface was a fine chapter but definitely could've had more to it, whether it was in BHVR's control or not.

Ghostface. The license applies only to the mask, but it gave us the most disgraceful killer in the game, no matter if you are playing as him or against him.

This pretty much. There are 2 killers that got the same treatment as Ash (No map, No Opponent), difference is, at least Ghostface and Leatherface bring something fun to the game. Ash.......not so much. He's the only character I didn't buy on my PS4 account, and I will be skipping him again as I build up my PC account. (His talking in the lobby also annoys me)

What's with the hate for TCM. That's tied with Halloween for my favourite slasher movie lol. But if I were to go for least favourite license it would be NoES because it's the remake and not the original. I love Robert Englund's Freddy.

The disrespect to Texas Chainsaw Massacre.. boy I tell ya. It's a classic regardless and in certain ways paved the way for Black Christmas, Halloween and the 80's slasher craze. That dirty, grungy feeling, the bizarreness of it and the black humor. It's pretty genius in how it was banned in so many countries yet has barely any blood in it making you use your mind to fill in what happens. One of the greatest horror films ever and y'all put some respect on Sally Hardesty for being one of the first final girls.
Worst license is Ash vs Evil Dead, I love me some Evil Dead but yeah that just feels like something thrown together.

Don't be offended by this (I mean that, you're a nice guy and I'm saying it to be honest, not to offend) but you are, LITERALLY, the first person I have ever spoken to - and I mean EVER - who has said that they enjoyed the remake. I mean until today that's the only movie I've ever known of that I could honestly say no one has ever claimed to like in my presence. You are the first. :)

And yes, I really enjoyed the remake. I loved the scarier and darker approach and Jackie was super good as Freddy. The only thing I disliked was that they didn't stick to the idea of making Freddy innocent, but that is just a minor issue.
As for the chapter itself, I think at this point you've already figured out which killer I main, but it goes beyond that. Most ANOES content was very different on release, and in my opinion that was the best Chapter in Dead by Daylight's history.

Wow, make that two! I am legitimately not exaggerating when I say that I have not heard of anyone liking the movie at all. NO ONE. Zip. Not one person anywhere, ever. Until today. Now two in a row! I was honestly wondering if I'd go my whole life never seeing anyone defend that movie.
Now to be fair, I haven't seen it. I don't have a dog in the fight. Well technically I guess I do since I'm a big fan of much of the original Elm Street series (all but 4, 5, and 6, really), but having not seen the remake I can't judge. I actually think it's funny that the reason I didn't see it is because all my most trusted friends did and came back saying that it was the most boring thing they'd ever seen, that they hated it, that Haley was good but wasted in a movie that was otherwise completely abysmal, and that I would be completely wasting my time if I saw it. I can think for myself of course, but this was one of those situations where EVERYBODY said that the movie was utter crap.
I just kind of never bothered, and the lame F13 remake didn't do much to encourage me either. I also didn't like the more realistic approach to Freddy's burn makeup, he wound up looking like a Dr. Seuss character to me. I couldn't take him seriously. Then WB started cramming that version of Freddy into everything (the Mortal Kombat games and so forth) and I just got sick of the existence of the remake altogether. I DID appreciate the fact that they were bold enough to finally just come right out and admit that the character was a child molester, but from what I was told that was essentially the only change that was any good.
To each their own though. I despise The Blair Witch Project with a seething passion and that's one of the most profitable films ever made. I hated Birdman and it won an Oscar for best picture. Orson Welles and I come from the same town yet I thought that Citizen Kane was boring. I liked Godfather III better than Godfather II. Lol once again, to each their own. :)

Saw license. So firstly they picked the least memorable of jigsaws apprenetices. (Mark hoffman was a way better option, amanda young just comes off as a slasher with no interest in actually living up to the legacy of the jigsaw killers.). The traps are very fire and forget with little info leaked to the killer. There's no ways for survivors to end up affecting other players timers or speed up the timer which again considering the franchise feels wrong. Then there's the dash which is by far the worst anti loop tech in the game due to the base counter of running away. Very often the games in saw involved teamwork or kill or be killed mentality. The fact that survivors play the trial like normal with no real consideration for the traps as a threat is a failure of adopting the saw license.
It did give me my boy tapp who brought a lot of fun survivor perks tenacity and stake out are kind of fun to play around with. The game map in its current state is a joke with it being pallet heavy and just lacking in structure with vaults and actual looping gameplay. Say what you will about freddy at least he's in line with his franchise. A dreamworld that puts survivors at a disadvantage with obstacles that represent his actual power in the movies. His ability to travel across the map with a reduced cd depending on how many survivor's are asleep.

To be quite honest, I don't know why so many people hated the remake. The characters were likeable, the kills were good, the atmosphere was creepy & Freddy was the star of the show as he was more sadistic than he ever was.
A lot of the time when I'd ask somebody why they didn't like it, it was because Freddy wasn't played by Robert Englund.. and I thought that was a brainless reason to hate the movie since Haley did an amazing job with his performance. People just don't like change I guess.
But yeah, I have the movie on DVD and watch it whenever I feel like it. I really think you should watch it man, even if you hate it, just so you can be able to say you've seen it. Maybe come back and tell me if you liked it or not? Either way, as you said, to each their own :)

Ooh, I really don't know. MAYBE. Maybe someday. There are just so many movies out there that I actually have faith in, I don't know if I want to spend my time giving a chance to something that everyone I know said to avoid as if my life depended on it. :D
I'm sure that a lot of the initial hate was because it wasn't Robert Englund, yes. To an extent I understand, he WAS the character, he basically made his entire career and launched a successful studio with his portrayal. He played not only Freddy but Fred Krueger, without the burn makeup. He was inseparable from the character. I'm not against recasting him, and I was intrigued when they announced the choice that they did (though I feel that it's kind of sad in a way, being that the guy's previous big movie also had him playing a child molester). I just heard from everybody that, more than anything else, the movie was just plain boring.
