Any idea what cause the game to break?
A serious question out of my curiosity.
In general 3 characters were added to the game and new map.
In the bugs list, killers and other maps got new bugs.
How other characters / maps can affect other characters when they are not related by anything?

Spaghetti code is a root cause for performance issues and breaks in areas of the game that are completely unrelated to the changes made.
It may not be the only cause or reason for poor game health with every update, but there’s no doubt it is a major one.

If we're right about how this game was developed, it'd be pretty easy for them to mess things up. DbD is built on a really bad foundation, to the point where even the smallest changes they make to the game have an extremely high chance of screwing up 50 other things. This happens with almost every other company's games, but they're not even close to the level of DbD's instability. It's getting to the point where it's almost unsalvageable. They need to do some serious work on their code soon before it becomes too big of a task to tackle, or it's just gonna get worse until it finally becomes unplayable on PS4/XB1, and barely functional on PC and current gen

I’ve been saying for years they need to conduct an Operation Health. The more they add to the game, the more costly and time consuming a major balance and game health overhaul will be.
I’m afraid it’s already too late now… which is a damn shame.

I have to admit, I just got done playing a six hour session and had zero problems whatsoever. None. Not a one. No crashes, no freezes, no lag spikes, nothing. I was shocked, given how much people have been raging about the instability and glitches.
Now, granted, I'm on PC (Steam). The problems seem like they're affecting console players more than anybody. There was also the claim that Lery's was causing problems (as well as The Game). Given how open so many killer mains have been about hating indoor maps because walls and pallets, I have my suspicions that these claims are just exaggerations or outright lies to get more people to demand their removal, but I wouldn't know. As soon as I got Lery's the punkass killer bailed so I wasn't able to test it. Didn't get The Game either, I never do. Dead Dawg supposedly glitched out as well but I didn't get that one either. I did get Coldwind, Coldwind, Autohaven, Coldwind, Coldwind, Coldwind, Coldwind, Coldwind, Coldwind, Coldwind, Autohaven, Pale Rose, Badham 1, Coldwind, Autohaven, and a few Coldwinds. Not that Coldwind I'm Coldwind ######### sick of ######### Coldwind Coldwind Coldwind Coldwind or anything. Coldwind.

It's a combination of spaghetti code from the game being developed far beyond what BHVR initially expected with new mechanics they likely had to jury-rig because of a lack of foresight and not future-proofing their code, and just plain sheer incompetence. The constant reintroduction of old bugs also means they must have basically no version-control in place, and just merge code without properly updating their work versions to a common base.
Why accuse them of incompetence, you may ask? Anyone who was around for last year's anniversary remembers BHVR managed to mess up a simple copy-paste of Bloody Party Streamers (altered to 104% and different icon) with the Ghastly Gateau and left it unfixed for an appallingly long time, cheating the community out of literal millions of BP per person. This is the kind of error a five-year-old child wouldn't make, and yet BHVR did, with what I presume are adult employees. There is always, without fail, a dumpster fire that lights up every time there's an update, and their repeated pattern of failure does not inspire confidence in the development team. I would not be shocked if they repeated the same error in a couple weeks from now, and I would not be shocked if the pattern of buggy updates continues until DBD's shutdown.
Also, the performance has been awful for years for console players and has only degraded with every update, which is where most of the bug reports are originating. BHVR either doesn't care about console, or has no idea how to fix it. Probably both. I speculate they're banking on Sony and Microsoft players getting next-generation systems so they don't have to invest time or money into fixing the problems. Sucks to be a Switch player I guess, and Stadia's a dead meme anyway.

I have to wonder if they ever do a single test on Xbox One, PS4, Switch, or Stadia. Do they know in advance that these problems are coming, or do they wing it and hope that the less-powerful systems will just squeak by somehow? And given that each new killer is making the game code even more convoluted and sluggish, what in the world is their long-term plan for these systems??
