Is sabotaging hooks a viable strategy? I've never seen it done
30 seconds isn't that long but with the add-on 45 sec. seems ok??
I don't think just running around sabotaging hooks is optimal, but when you're near a killer that is or will be carrying a survivor, saboing a nearby hook is the play??

Yeah it can work, but you kinda need a whole build around it and even then if the killer is good they will more than likely slug and just come for you instead.

sabo in my opinion is still useless and should just be removed as a mechanic as a whole

It's useless, even saves are very hard. The time wasted could be used my spreading the play/working on gens.

Sabo is lots of fun imo, you can’t really drop hooks early unless you want to corral the killer elsewhere like away from a key generator or towards a closer loop. Usually the only time to use it is when they are on the way to hook somebody and you break it just before they get there (granted they didn’t see you by the hook) even if you can only secure a drop you have delayed or stopped a hook which is pretty good. Try running sabo perk sometime, seeing every hook on A pickup will give you all the info you need to make a choice then and there. It’s like saving with a flashlight it’s a crime of opportunity.

Can make a incredible and thrilling save here and there.
95% of the time it won't do anything.

KK, thanks guys.. Seems the consensus is it's worthless, so any add-on that improve it are useless as well.

Sabo-ing is a fun gimmick, so try it if you want, but it's not a consistent or reliable strategy. I frequently see people trying to sabo the minute I pick a survivor up and counter them simply by walking to a different hook. In order to sabo correctly you need a very specific build:
-Alex's toolbox with sabo speed addons
-Breakout
-Dead Hard
The technique is to follow the killer to the hook and body block it, take a hit, then sabo the hook and dead hard away while the killer is on attack cooldown.
I went against a team of 3 the other night who were all running this build. I countered it by taking my free hit against the sabo-er then dropping the survivor I was carrying and chasing after the sabo-er for an easy down. They got 1 successful save out of maybe 10 attempts and in the meantime gave me so many free hits/downs that I overwhelmed them.
Which brings me back to my original point: It's a fun gimmick to try but you need an entire build and it's not consistent or reliable.

Its only a viable strat towards winning if youre playing swf and all make your builds around it.
That said its still fun to do in solo sometimes. Ive gotten a few saves with it. Not everything has to be centered around winning, its ok to have fun even if it results in an L

I have a couple of friends that I don't like seeing killed, so I broke out the alex toolbox and saboteur perk.
Sabo perk highlights all the hooks in the area, so you can try to make it there first (sprint burst helps) alex toolbox has crazy speed, Breakout would help if I had it and an offering to space out the hooks more.
I got 5 saves in 3 games. I technically died in 2 of them and the third I couldn't sabo both hooks and didn't save one ):
But I saved my friends so it was worth it.

Before, you were able to sabotage hooks at 99% and then just break it by touching it. The 99% would'nt regress as long as the hook wouldn't be destroyed. But sabotaging then was longer, breaking 100% of the hook could take around 10 seconds.
Now, you can't do this anymore so it is more situational to consider it an optimal strategy. You must have either a toolbox (which now as soooooo much less charges than before) or jake's perk. That's why people don't use it often
