Survivor rework

This is a thought to make each survivor unique, so what makes the killers unique is that each one of they have there own special abilities that is specific to them…I feel that the survivors should have only two teachable perks and the third perk should be unique to the survivor…example self care is the most widely used perk from Claudette so that one perk should be only used with her…this will make the survivors unique…if this makes sense…just a thought

While this sounds good in theory, in practice, it probably wouldn't work, unless the "unique" perks were the niche ones that people rarely run. You couldn't have a strong perk -- like a DS/DH/UB/Sprint Burst/etc. -- be a unique perk, or you'd see nothing but the same survivors being run over and over again to make sure those perks were able to be used.

I think it would be a nice feature to have each survivor be able to utilize ONE of their perks better than other survivors could -- using your example, all Claudettes would have a buff to their healing (themselves and others) compared to other survivors, since that's their "thing". Not sure if mechanics like those could be implemeted in the game at this point without causing the already jumbled mess to melt down entirely, though.

    I don't like that idea. I want my Self-Care :(

Eventually, only a handful of survivors will be played becuz of their perks.

And that would mean 1 killer would have to fight 4 of the most optimally powerful survivors.

    I wouldn't want that.

Self-Care is a harmful perk to you and your team. Better that you ween yourself off of it as soon as possible.

It makes sense and we all have thought of it, there's like 10 posts a day from new players who come here with the same ideas, problem is devs don't wnat a specific survivor to be better than others and having unique abilities will mean there will be survivors that will be picked more than others, it will also mean meta picks on tournaments, throwing the balance of the game more than it is now...

In theory, cool idea, should've been there from the start.

By now, though, that requires them to make 27 "specials", make 'em somewhat interesting, balance them all out to a degree so that some survivors aren't just objectively better than others. It's simply too much work, and in my opinion, changes the entire game into something that's not DbD.

Survivor A - Boost to repair speed

Survivor B - Faster healing and can self care

Survivor C - Slight faster movement and faults

    Etc

    Etc

Id make survivors have 2 perks instead of 4 but each character as a unique basekit

Funny all the Mets survivor perks are anti tunneling, camping, and slugging. Yet also the most complained about ones. Seems most killers play pretty toxic.

Funny how you continue to make assumptions over and over again. Funny how every post you make puts regular people who play the game as one of the designed roles for fun into a negative light and those posts add nothng, but are completely counter-productive. Funny how you defended toxic survivor behavior in another thread, showing (along with your post history) that you're so biased, your opinions about almost everything can be easily dismissed without merit due to an inability to understand the game needs BOTH roles to have happy players to survive.

Since you completely missed my point to make your post #171 about how "Killers bad, duh" -- the OP's suggestion would HURT survivor players. As some people have already said, this idea wouldn't work. If meta perks -- which I have gone on record before as defending on BOTH sides -- ended up being the "unique" perks, you couldn't run them both, which is why -- as a survivor who runs multiple meta perks like Prove Thyself, Sprint Burst and DS (with an occasional Unbreakable), for example -- I wouldn't want to see that.

If you want to reply to me, go back to the toxicity thread and reply to where I asked you why you're happy defending toxic behavior on one side and condemming it on the other, and how every person who has the -- gasp -- AUDACITY! -- to hit the ready button as killer is just the worst person imaginable. 🙄 Otherwise, please troll somewhere else.

I like this idea a lot. Passive buffs that affect certain kinds of perks, healing, aura, speed, gen repair, sabotaging, etc…

    love it!

There is a few reasons that passive effects and buffs or perk abilities for survivors tied to individual survivors don't work in dbd

1st if there are effects survivors would just find the strongest effects and use only them, making a bunch of characters that they might have played or leveled before at best worse and at worse useless in comparison to the better effects

2nd if the effect was a perk especially such as David having dh or Laurie having ds then you run into more problems since now you just pick a survivor with a meta perk and stack 4 more on top of it or lose a perk slot and force survivors to play a meta survivor just to complete their meta build which leaves behind a large portion of the player base if only 4-5 survivors have a viable meta perk attached to them

3rd they weren't grandfathered in, many survivor mains throw all of their eggs in one basket and have one survivor that is absolutely stacked with perks, addons, offerings, and addons, even suggesting that their character they put maybe 3-4 years into becoming weaker than all the other survivor options would be an absolute spit in the face of all their years of effort and playtime

4th if it was only a small effect then there would be no point, like a 1% gen speed or 5% healing speed, there would just be no point to having the effects at that point since their effects are so small they wouldn't actually matter and while it might be neat there would just be no point to them, which is why they need bigger effects but those won't work for reasons above

which is why I don't think passives or even extra perks tied to survivors should ever come to dbd they just don't work and don't have a place in dbd

I get what your saying but that's tooo op. Self care built in with claudette, dead hard built in with david etc that's too op of they still get to have 4 extra perks.good idea tho

No Self-Care is good and have saved my teammates many times

I mean, if you like taking way too long to heal and wasting precious objective time when your teammates could heal you twice as fast, then sure.

Except you are wasting another persons time too, the amount of time wasted remains the same.

Thats only true if no one is working together like your supposed to. Self caring on the edge of the map doesnt help anyone.

The one big argument against this I hear is "oh well then everybody would just pick whatever survivor has the best unique perk," but I still don't see the problem with that. If anything, it will just make balance issues more obvious, kind of like how it was obvious how strong DS was by how everybody was running it.
