Why do blights always use the same build (Rant)
I swear blight is the only killer I see with the same 3 perks without fail each time. Always ruin, undying, tinkerer, with a 4th perk that's usually bbq. Not asking for a nerf. Just a mini rant I had to say

Blight's pretty difficult to master, and the three perks you mentioned are extremely meta right now, so that's probably why. But hey, that just means you know what they're probably running and can counter it.

Because most Blight players can't play him very well so instead of taking losses and getting better they slap on that build and go to town.

For the exact same reasons people complain about survivors using the same perks all the time. They're too oppressive in the right hands and need toning down, as well as incredibly monotonous to face for the 81st time.

Its because its whats best for him if you want to win. kinda like how survivors just about always have unbreakable, DH, and (in the past) DS. its just what you use if you want better odds of winning. Plus because of the slow down perks and tinkerer, its just fun to have longer games (at least for me it is.)

It honestly just gets old. Perk diversity makes matches interesting and I bore myself to death when every blight runs the same build and ik what it is before I even get on a gen. I'm all for good killers using good perks but he's the only one who really uses the same old 3 perks

Maybe BHVR should improve the other perks so they're actually worth running then. Otherwise you're basically running crap perks for the funsies.

I totally get that. I personally don't use ruin or any hex perks for that matter cuz I like having all my perks and not have to deal with chance. I don't mind it as a whole tho.

And you'll always see most killers running pop. You can blame BHVR for there being a limited number of perks that are actuall ly good.

Most strong perks use basic attacks, such as NOED, Make Your Choice, STBFL, etc. which Blight can't get use out of. In addition to this Blight is able to pressure generators the best out of any killer.
I've tried quite a few different builds on Blight, but they always end up feeling fairly memie.
The build that I actually did the best with outside of the meta was , Dark Devotion, Rancor, Nemesis, Furtive Chase.
Dark Devotion surprised me the most, but what is generally a weakness ends up being a strength, because Blight is often attacking using his Blighted rush it means that just because the obsession is hit doesn't mean that Blight has lost his terror radius, but he might have. Nemesis is used to grant the oblivious status effect when the obsession changes, which will happen more often because of furtive chase. Rancor is useful because it shows the location of all survivors every time a generator gets completed and allows you to one shot the obsession at the end of the game. In addition you never want to take advantage of the Mori, at end game hook the obsession and when they're unhooked the savior becomes the obsession, they can be one shot down and you can focus on the unhooked survivor, if they use DS then they become the obsession which allows for the shenanigans to continue. All in all I actually loved this build. That being said it's a bit weaker than.

Because it's a good build.
Same reason most survivors run some variant Dead Hard DS Unbreakable BT every game, but minus the feeling you're being a dick by running something overpowered, and with the knowledge that on the off chance you run into an actually good team, that build (with luck) is just about the only thing that can give you a fighting chance.

But I don't have a problem with pop or any good perks. I just get annoyed playing against blight with the same build

Honestly. i'll use ruin if i don't have pop.
same with pop if i don't have ruin. But i never combine it with undying.
At all..
I like it down to more skill and literal mindgames.

It's kind of the only perk build that has a high success rate on Blight. Rather than nerfing it, other perks need to be made more viable on him. But it's one killer, so obviously it isn't going to happen.

Undying is literally one of Blight's teachables??
Blight is hard to use and gets screwed uo by uanky mechanics a lot, there is really not much to do in terms of perks.

I would love them to buff other perks would be nice. I never said I wanted it nerfed tho. It's just annoyingly old and predictable

Hello, dedicated Blight Main, here.
Here's why a majority of Blights run those perks:
Ruindying: Ruin and Undying were a match made in Hell since the PTB. Blight's mobility lets him get to generators efficiently and quickly so Ruin can do its job, while Undying allows it to last for longer than 10 seconds.
Tinkerer: Paired with Ruin or Pop, Tinkerer is a powerful perk in the hand of any mobile Killer, which is somethig Blight can capitalize on.
BBQ: BBQ is a ridiculously strong aura perk on Blight, as his ability to cross maps quickly can leave a Survivor with minimal time for hiding once he gets a hook and is en route. Also, BP.

It's a shame this build is left in the game like this gifting killers wins every match. The stats should be showing a problem with this build. It needs a nerf to make the game fair.

My favorite build on him when I'm just having fun practicing is Shadowborn, Pop, Infectious, and BBQ for the bp. This build does well versus most teams but very good teams can just rush gens out. However, the reason that the ruin/undying/tinkerer build is so often seen is because it has really good synergy with his power and can help when facing the absolute best teams to be competitive. It is his best build. It is most definitely overkill versus normal teams though. Same reason you see so much Dead Hard, Iron Will, Borrowed, Unbreakable, etc. Those are just the best perks to use if you want to win. A lot of variety is killed for most killers because of basic attack constrictions. Blight wont really use anything that requires a basic hit which is a lot of perks. For example, Devour makes sense on Wraith because every hit is a basic attack and can use Devour. Doesnt make as much sense on Blight when you are mainly using Lethal Rushes to get hits.

When I play Blight, I run BBQ, Pop, Whispers, and Corrupt or Enduring. I'd love to use UnRuin, but I hate using hex perks. Not fun to bring them in, only for them to get cleansed super quick.

I know it's only a meme but I genuinely don't understand all the hype behind lethal pursuer. You're guaranteed to be playing with three perks after just 9 seconds. If I'm guaranteed to be one perk down so early in then the effect needs to be much stronger then some aura reading. Or at the very least, give it some small secondary effect. It's a really interesting concept as it encourages almost immediate chases, but being one perk down after a measly 9 seconds is really, truly awful.

I actually do. But I'm just mainly complaining as all blight as a whole use the exact same build rather than killers just using strong perks. I don't mind people using strong perks

As others have already stated, some perks just synergize better with different killers.
Also, it's not really a fair comparison saying that you run different perks when you play survivors. Once you have the unlockable perks, there are no difference between them so you are more free to try different builds for survivors.

My favourite build on him at the moment is the Iridescent Blight Tag and Shredded Notes with Lethal Persuer. It's so much fun to insta-down someone not even 10 seconds into a game. Even if it is map dependant.

I use pop, bbq, eruption and something else like infectious or crowd control and I have no problems pumping or 4ks

It's because blight is a super ######### ducking artificial mobility killer that gains the most use out of ruin and easily protect his totems undying helps about it. Tinkerer is also synergize best with him to get that sneaky guarantee hit while running like a mercedes benz formula 1 car. And this dude is hard to master, those perks helps you to delay the game so you can gain some extra time you lost when bumping in the same branch 4 times.

Because they're the perks that are not only meta, but have great synergy on him. Most good non-slowdown perks go under either info or M1 attacks. The later of which is a bad idea to run on him since you want power hits. People got used to RuinDying and haven't understood that ruin pop is the way to go post nerf. Often times you can just get away with pop since he's so fast. Unless I see it's a SWF, I myself will typically run BBQ, Pop, Bitter Murmer, and bloodwarden. Once I'm done leveling Nemesis to the build I want, an alternative build I want to go for is Lethal+Corrupt and Bitter+No Way Out.

A lot of people dont like to lose by trying weird stuff. I run weird stuff all the time, often disastreously. But ive been playing long enough that i know i can get to r1 anytime i want, not everyone is that confident

I honestly experience this "same 3 perks" thing on other killers as well. Usually there are perks that are the DEFINITIVE META perk for a killer so you're going to come across it more often than not. Ruin Undying Tinkerer is a really solid, near-meta build on him. So it's what you're going to see since he's harder to master.

I play Blight with BBQ, Pop, Oppression, and Shadowborn. Very solid build IMO.
I might switch out Oppression with Lethal Pursuer once I bother leveling Blight again (although I main him, I focus on leveling other characters because I like his base-kit).

BBQ is highly potent on Blight, as I've already said, as is Pop paired with Oppression.
I'd get rid of Shadowborn, myself, but I don't like using it so I don't get addicted to it to begin with.

Unfortunately Shadowborn is a necessity on my Blight, I'm a high FOV gamer and Blight is pretty damn good with high FOV in the same way Nurse and Huntress are.
But yeah I think Blight is the best user of BBQ honestly. Blight is already a solid bloodpoint farmer and his synergy with that perk is INSANE.

I am one of those blights that go to both extremes, most of the time I play Add-On less with no perks for the challenge, but when I just want some chill games I run Ruin/Undying/Infectious/BBQ with either double speed Add-Ons for fun snipe games or Alchemist Ring+Compound 33 for "I just want to speedrun this Archive Challenge" games.

Well, that's unfortunate, but at least Blight is solid enough that a 4th perk isn't necessary to do decent with him.
Also, yes. I was saying out the gate how crazy Blight was gonna be, but NOBODY believed me.
