Message to people with 1k hours or more

There is 0 excuse once you have over a thousand hours to not know what all the perks and addons do. No reason whatsoever. It's amazing to me how many survivors with 3k hours or even more don't know what killer addons do. That tells me you never play killer. Im a big advocate for playing both sides due to this. Playing both sides makes you better at your main role. There's no excuse when you have 1k hours to not know what nurses calling is (Got called a wall hacker by a claud with 4k hours). Same goes for killer at 1k+ hours you should know what BT,DH, Ironwill, etc do. Anyway you get my point. End of rant.

It isn't that much effort to know everything. I don't even use half the perks in this game but when I see them used I can name what perk they are using. It's just about paying attention to the descriptions.

I have just about 1k hours. Ive played a lot more killer then survivor but played enough survivor to know what perks do what and items and addons. Good post, people need to educate themselves on either side to have a proper understanding of the game in my opinion.

None of that had anything to do with my post. I don't "sweat" In this game I play to have fun. It just baffles me how you can have that many hours and not know what all the perks do. Even if you don't use them it's insane to me.

or just have fun and when someone says something that is somewhat ignorant just say GG <3. It really helps :)

When I said addons I mean the ones that have a great impact on the game mostly. I don't expect everybody to know the add-ons that take 5% off of specific action. Cause that's so miniscule it might as well not matter. But stuff like Barbs glasses and Black heart more recently on demo should be known cause it makes a great impact on the game

I've got well over 3K hours and I know pretty much every item/add-on

It also helps that I read fast.

I learned a lot just from reading perks and add on descriptions in the endgame screen. I never used 70% of them but I know what they do

THIS. That's all it takes! Just being attentive is all it takes

  • GrimmGaliard
    GrimmGaliard Member Posts: 258

That requires you to see them all in action and remember them. For example: I didn't even know The Twins perks existed until last week, because I've only gone against two. I've fought maybe 4 Demos, I can't tell you jack ######### about what all his add-ons do. Same for Trickster, Blight, Nemesis probably some others.

Because it's not that serious. Sure, I'll get surprised every few games and someone like you will go rant on the forums, but... So what?

I remember the first time as a survivor that BBQ was used, I was hiding I thought and he ran right up to me and got me. Was totally like #########, till I saw his perks after

  • HR_Helios
    HR_Helios Member Posts: 189

You should know he has an addon that can increase it to 70 though it isn't super impactful so I'd honestly let that one slide.

  • HR_Helios
    HR_Helios Member Posts: 189

When it comes to addons I mostly mean the impactful ones, like the ultra rares, and things like Barbs glasses and black heart for demo. Things that if you know them you can play around them

So you count every blade he throws? I'll call that stupid and unnecessary thing to do. Same goes for Clown's Smelly Inner Soles add-on. Are you like "OH MY GOD, he is faster when he is reloading". Let's be real, people should not learn what EVERY add-on do, perks and best add-ons are enough.

It's hard to know every single perk and add-ons in the game to be honest.

I mainly play killer, and I don't even know half the add-ons killers have because I don't use any LOL.

just to point out a flaw in that logic, you could have had that 1000 hours in the first year of the game well before all the other dlc and new content was out that you wont have any knowledge off.

  • Aven_Fallen
    Aven_Fallen Member Posts: 16,284

True, even tho, you cannot play around Add Ons when they simply make the power of the Killer better without any other effect.

However, it would be nice if Add Ons would have meaningful ways to be detected. Like, I can see if Billy uses his Chargetime Add-On, because he is slower.

However, when I look at Spirit, neither of their Add Ons gives ANY indication. Like, I can never see if she has a fast Power Recovery, if she has a fast Power activation... I cannot even see if she is using MDR (which would mean I am allowed to run), because her power is designed in a way to give no information, which makes it impossible to guess her Add Ons.

(Just another thing which adds how stupid this Killer is, if people actually know what her Add Ons do but have no way to detecting them)

You would be shocked at how many profiles i have looked at that have 3k+ hours and don't even have the 100 kills achievement or even half way into the 1000 kills achievement

  • gendoss
    gendoss Member Posts: 2,270

Well if you were genuinely called a wall hacker by a person who has 4k hours I'm just assuming those hours were faked/idled. Nurse's Calling is like a perk that literally everybody learns about when they have 10 hours, let alone 4 thousand.

Maybe you ran into a very stupid or toxic surv, who cant stand loosing. But i never played against survs with 1k + hours who doesnt understand the most used killer perks

This is obviously a post from someone who must win every game and t-bag and click a flashlight everytime the killer is close. If the team loses there will be no faulting the op on their performance in the trial at all as they did everything correctly.

As a killer there will be no misses at all with the swings and every match below a 4k is an utter defeat. The survivors will never use the perks as intended because the op will never let them.

Op is perfection personified, the king/queen of all role models for the game and everyone must follow their example.

This post comes across as toxic to me, or even more so as though you are scolding a child. We all cannot remember every single perk and add ons that has and will ever exist, the meta ones yes, the powerful ones yes, the average ones are a good possibility but not guaranteed. The junk ones not worth anything but a meme build, forgettable. All the info will be in our minds but some of them we may not be able to recall, especially the newer ones until we get used to them and imprint them into our minds.

Maybe Claudette did know but was just acting dumb to either get you riled up, which obviously worked, or was sour that she lost that she blanked it from her mind.

We can't all be gods at the game like you and neither should we be expected to be. A lot of people play for fun, not for 4ks or escapes every match, not training to be part of a pro team. Escapism and fun is all a lot require to enjoy the game.

    End of rant

There are a grand total of 179 perks and 544 add-ons (not including event and decommissioned add-ons), plus 24 killer powers. If you, OP, are so certain that you know them, then write them ALL down, from memory. No checking any online resources or asking for help. And yes, I want numbers for everything, as well as what the icons look like.

Back at 1000 hours I probably did have every perk and add on memorised. Now i'm at 3.5k hours I simply don't care that much anymore.

I just play to have fun/progress the rift now, tha's it. It's the correct way to play.

Peoplee should know the popular perks but its not surprising people do not know the new or less common perks. Sometimes I have a rough idea and that is often enough:

Dark Devotion: Killer will sometimes not have a terror radius (Why? I don't know, I'll just pay attention around me)

Blood echo: Something bad can happen if I don't heal (I can't remember what, I'll just heal if I can)

I have almost 2k hours now, but im not going to memorize every single killer addon. I know what a good portion of them do, or in game i can call out "they have a (insert buff) addon!" Like i know what alot of them do, just not to what extent.

  • GoodBoyKaru
    GoodBoyKaru Member Posts: 22,810

Maybe not every single add-on but I know what every single perk in the game does and if you tell me a perk name I can tell you it's effect, usually with the stacking values in there too 😔💅

Perks: There's not really an excuse for that one

Addons: This one is understandable, because some people don't really play a killer, or never used those addons. Me personally, I use just brown-yellow addons in 90% of my games, I don't know what some of the green and purple ones do tbh.

  • Orion
    Orion Member Posts: 21,675

So I reiterate the challenge I made to OP:

Obviously just the perks, since you say nobody should know all 544 add-ons, but I'm sure you can name all 179 perks from memory, along with everything else I mentioned, right?

  • Seanzu
    Seanzu Member Posts: 7,526

I'm at 5.7k hours and I could not give a toss about the majority of addons, perks & numbers in this game due to the sheer amount of useless addons killers have and survivors items have, why would I want to fill my brain with utter useless info like that lmao.

  • GoodBoyKaru
    GoodBoyKaru Member Posts: 22,810

Bitter murmer, you see the auras of all survivors close to a generator for 5 seconds after its been completed. Once all generators are done, you see the aura of all survivors for 10 seconds. Can't remember how this one stacks. Universal perk.

Dying light, you get a token each time you hook a survivor that isn't the obsession. Each token provides a 2%/2.5%/3% stackable slowdown to action speeds. The obsession ignores this slowdown, gets 33% faster altruism speeds, and if they die you lose all tokens. Michael Myers, level 40.

Fast track, each time a survivor is hooked that isn't you, get 1/2/3 tokens. Hitting a great skillcheck consumes all tokens, which will each provide a 1% bonus to the progression gained. Yun-Jin Lee, level 30(?)

Monstrous shrine, all hooks in the basement have: less chance to unhook yourself, faster hook progression, and attempting to escape will punish you 3%76%/9% more. Can't remember exact values for all of them. Universal perk.

Second Wind, activated by healing the equivalent of one health state, the next time you are unhooked you're affected by the Broken status effect for 32/28/24 seconds. After thsi time has passed, you're automatically healed to healthy. Second Wind doesn't activate if you're broken by any other means. Steve Harrington, level 40.

SFTS- whenever a survivor sets off a crow near you, get a specific visual queue that shows it clearly to you. Distance is stackable but I can't remember exact values. Has a cooldown of 5 seconds. Universal perk.

Wake Up!, once the exit gates are powered, Wake Up! activates. See the auras of the exit gates within 64m/96m/128m, and open them 14% faster. If you're opening a gate, all survivors within 64m/96m/128m see your aura.

As expected, there are many details you don't remember, because it's unreasonable to expect anyone to remember this much information.

  • GoodBoyKaru
    GoodBoyKaru Member Posts: 22,810

To be fair I did say usually with stackable bonuses but that's mostly on perks I see a lot lmao, wasn't expecting spies to show up.

At least I remembered the general effect though, so I'll take it. Means I know what perk does what

  • Orion
    Orion Member Posts: 21,675

that's mostly on perks I see a lot lmao

That's my point. Nobody, except those with an eidetic memory, can actually retain all of this useless information. You'll know about the stuff you encounter most often, and even that's a "maybe".

At least I remembered the general effect though, so I'll take it.

That's fine, OP is the one who said everyone "should" know all this stuff by heart.

Or.... We just play the game sometimes in free time for fun without overthinking things such as video game? U really think I have time to study perks and add ons in game and it has like 300 in total? Or something

  • GoodBoyKaru
    GoodBoyKaru Member Posts: 22,810

Yeah knowing the exact values of every perk is stupid, so long as you have a general idea of most of their effects and check the endgame screen if you get confused then it should be fine lol

welp i have over 1.6K and i don't know what most addons in the game do, no matter the side. Mostly because as survivor i rarely use any item and as killer i don't equip any addons or not over the yellow rarity.

I couldn't care less about becoming intimately familiar with all the perks at 400 hours in, and I don't anticipate caring any more about it 600 hours from now.

I was called a hacker many times when I started off playing Huntress. The survivors did not seem to realize she has a projectile weapon.
