Can anyone tell me how the anniversary event has "extra effort," put Into it?
Because the in game event is just a copy and paste job.
Even the stuff they're doing out of matches is just a variation of stuff they could already do. Such as rotating the shrine of secrets, giving log in rewards, and reskinning default cosmetics + items.
None of the upcoming event is effortful, and if this is BHVR putting in extra effort. Then I don't have much hope for the future of events in this game. Honestly, indie titles with much smaller teams have pulled off much better events than this.

There is no extra effort; there's less effort than before.

It doesn't.

Honestly there is more out of the matches than before. Last time it was just the crowns and some reskinned items.
But damn this isn't much better than the bare bones event last year.
5 -
You see, this is the 4th Years Anniversary crown
This is the 5th Years Anniversary Crown
Dude, that's like 3 more lines of effort.

OHMAGAWD

Yeah there's very little effort and its kinda sad considering the fact Behavior said Anniversary and Halloween are suppose to be their biggest events and to see some redone event from last year with crowns that lets be honest no one cares to use because they look goofy and give away stealth and to be honest they're so lackluster because its a default outfit with a crown above it legit booty cheeks. If they put just a little more work into the cosmetic rewards this event would have been great but default andy clothing with a crown isn't it chief i don't know why they think anyone would rock those cosmetics.
24 -
The effort has been put into giving the event love 😂😂😂
19 -
I'd give them a million points for effort if they gave the crown its own slot so I could equip it over any head instead of being stuck with the default head.
Seriously, I might actually wear the things if they could go over any head. As is, they have a slight novelty value for maybe a few seconds before going, "Okay, what should my character really wear?"
22 -
i miss the old events :(
26 -
Can't even wear them with the anniversary reskins.
5 -
I think everyone does.
6 -
What exactly does everyone want, aside from the ability to exploit the game in ways that the developer doesn't want and free "compensation" for the game developing undesired bugs?
I'll start. It's their fifth anniversary so I think that BHVR could have shown their effort by providing me with a free car. I'd still hate them and call them lazy, inept, greedy, stupid, worthless, evil, and every other negative thing I could think of while continuing to play the game and demanding a full cash refund, but man it would be nice to have a new car. Oh, I want my cosmetic glitch given back to me too. They owe me.

My reaction to the 5th anniversary event (with extra effort)
15 -
Didn’t they say they were cutting back on the events to focus on game health and so they could make the 2 events we get extra special? Well the game health is on the verge of flatlining and the events are the same as before, aside from last Halloween which wasn’t even a proper event as it was tied to the Rift.
35 -
I... don't even want to know what the 6th one is going to look like.
3 -
At a guess, people would like events to actually feel like events. My all time favorite is still the Summer BBQ event. Margarita gens and Grill hooks were really cool. Add in the extra bp from finishing the gens/using those hooks and it was alot of fun. In short they made events that were fun, not copy and paste.
21 -
Thank you for the honest answer. Yes, things like this would be nice.
1 -
I don’t think this takes into account how much more time and resources they sink into the archives year round now.
I think this leaves little time and resources for massive events anymore.
2 -
BHVR worked overtime to ######### it up. That's the Extra Effort they put in.
10 -
It's not out yet so we don't know what they could mean by that (although I don't have my hopes up).
2 -
The archives are just a battle pass with some lore attatched.
Hell, the rift is mostly just small charms and reskins. With maybe one or two unique skins per rift. Tell me how THAT, pulls a large amount if resources.
If the battle pass is pulling that much manpower into it. Then BHVR really needs to revaluate what they prioritize for development.
11 -
It's really not the "free compensation" that I want, though free cosmetics are always nice. I was just hoping the devs would treat the events as a live ptb and use them to try out new mechanics that they may add to the base game if they were well received by the player-base. Like, for Christmas, they should make part of the floor for outside maps a little slippery, that would cause both killers and survivors to slide around a bit. In the spring, the swamp maps could get flooded with water in certain areas where we can swim through or maybe jump from drift wood to drift wood to get to buildings or higher ground. They could introduce new usable items and see what works and what doesn't.

Then why did BHVR release a statement saying how they want to put in extra effort for their anniversary and halloween events?
They weren't even able to copy and paste the winter event because of that.
It's on them for raising expectations for nothing
18 -
That's another good answer. I like to see people making reasonable wishes like these.

That doesn’t mean they just wave a wand, and “poof”, rift and tomes appear. There’s also the writing, artwork, voice recordings, and animations created for the archives too.
All I’m saying is that once upon a time they only had to invest their time into chapters, bug fixes, cosmetics and events. Now they’re still trying to do all that on top of a year round “battle pass” if that’s what you want to call it. Something’s gotta give somewhere.
2 -
It also doesn't mean that they skimp out on promises they themselves made to the community.
BHVR promised extra effort for their two biggest events. So far they have improved nothing for the anniversary event itself. We still do the same song and dance from last year. All that's changed is a few extra little bits of stuff occurring outside of matches.
"If that's what you want to call it." Don't even try to tell me the rift is anything other than a battle pass.

I mean. Colorblind should've been a thing.. at the start...
Not 5 years late. that can have affects others who ARE Colorblind..
1 -
To be fair colorblind settings aren't a feature I see in most games.

Ctrl C
Ctrl V
Maximum effort!

I think what we actually are good events, such as the ones we had in the past: Howling Grounds, Scorching Summer BBQ, All Hallows' Eve, Winter Solstice, and this beautiful list goes on.
5 -
I miss that event also! The sizzling sound was awesome lol.
6 -
Wish I was here for that event, but I didn't start playing DBD until Winter Solstice.
2 -
Once you hooked a survivor, some pork started sizzling in the pan under their feet lol.
0 -
Yeah, I know. I've seen some videos about it. If only I had been here.
2 -
The cooking was my favorite part of the whole thing but I really did like seeing the liquid pour out of the top of the machines when they got completed, too.
4 -
What defines a good event? Because those events were just gens and hooks being pretty with extra BP.
I want more interactive events like the Blight and Moonrise. Finding the Gnome at ECG now that stuff is fun.
4 -
If the anniversary was a photo.
I'm hoping they got something big as a secret
They probably do have something special, I'm gonna be optimistic

Stop, you are killing me with memories from a good time that I never experienced!
You do. Fun is subjective, I just gave some examples that I thought were good events.
But at least none of them were recycled, unlike the upcoming one.
4 -
Yeah, it's a bit sad that they stopped doing all of these things. They already have it programmed. It wouldn't be hard to paste the code back in and redo the stuff.
2 -
Yeah, it is hard to understand why they don't do that anymore. It can't be that difficult, and they know the community wants it.
By the way, up for some more nostalgia?
4 -
I also miss the Christmas lights everywhere, too.
2 -
Now that is going to overwhelm me! I first started playing DBD during the last Winter Solstice event, back in 2018.
That theme alone was enough to send shivers down my spine. I miss 2.4.0 so damn much!
2 -
They had some really unique events in the past.
1 -
Being fair if you can't physically see red you can't track very well or see gens and auras and that's a pretty big part of the game and they are only one color.
1 -
It will be both previous crowns inside another ring
1 -
oh no
1 -
Didn't they say they would put more effort in events after the map reworks are done or am i remembering that wrong?
0 -
You're remembering wrong. After the shitshow that was Halloween and christmas, they made a statement. They said they were going to put extra effort into the biggest events, those being the anniversary, and Halloween.
9 -
You never experienced the scorching Barbacue event? Hell, if I had a time machine I'd let you use it to give the event a shot. It was amazing. Only thing that beats it though was the Halloween event for 2018 and.. I guess 2019

This is a very big reminder to keep threads on topic. I had to delete a page worth of comments as they were not related to the thread in any capacity, so please keep it on topic and don't talk about other people when they're not present.
