how to avoid getting tilted

i see alot of people complaining and arguing and just overall negativity so ima just tell you what i do to avoid getting tilted

so the first thing i usually do is just not take the game seriously like in the long run its nothing that important but this may be tricky for some

try to stay positive if youre killer and you get run around the entire match just think like "they were the better player" and just take it as a learning experience, if they hit you with a ggez dont get upset just hit them with a "ggwp" because replying to a ggez usually just ends with more frustration

and just try to be nice to others, im not asking you to change playstyle, play how you like but when in end game chat just stay calm and try to be a nice person

and i hope it works for you, good luck

    Exactly!

I mean yea, sure, there are times in a really intense match that I may get frustrated but I don't let it linger. I move on with my life and try to see what I can possibly learn from the situation. I play an equal balance of both Survivor and Killer, which I really feel is a bonus because it let's me see things from both perspectives. If I am struggling as Survivor against a particular Killer I will play as that Killer and see how others go against me, what tactics they use, what perks are they utilizing. I always try to point out and comment on what the other side is doing that is good.

The only time I really get upset is in matches with hackers...it's not very often but it has happened. I have literally watched another survivor clear across the map go UNDER the map and come up in front of me to unhook. Now that stuff really grinds my gears, but still I move on with my life and just keep moving forward. Life is too short to get all bent out of shape about a game.

The best way to avoid tilt is to cherrypick your matches carefully. Minimal items, make sure they're not a SWF, no keys, disconnect on bad map offerings, all of it. A fair match is much less tilting than the constant stream of 4man SWFs you'd otherwise get.

I set my small "win condition" at the start like getting 4 BBQ stacks and get some good plays and overall better at the killer I am playing so that I don't being destroyed too much.

That said, sometimes its really hard not to be pissed, especially if its due to something out of your control, like map and RNG

That's pretty much how I play this game. It works wonders.

It's sucks to lose. But I never get mad at survivors as killer. Unless they sandbag and ruin game to their fellow survivors on purpose. But it's extremely rare case.

It tilt me a little when they go toxic in post game chat. Which is also rare, because I always say gg first. They could say gg back but most of the time they don't say anything.

Being nice in post game chat is so simple and it always cheers up. I think complementing your opponent in post game chat easily help to avoid being tilted. "You did well Yui". "Nice loops Dwight". "Well played everyone". This community not that bad. You can get some nice words back and it warms.

I don’t get mad that easy, I have a lot of RL problems for years now (health issues etc.). These problems always remind me that there are much worse things to worry about than teabagging, 4 SWF teams, camping and tunneling. I would be the happiest person on earth, if these were my only problems. Another reason is that I’m one of the few people who play for fun. A fun match to me is when I can do as much as possible in, nice chases, many hooks, gens, totems, unhooking, healing, doing challenges. Even if I don't get one single kill or I don't escape, I won't be mad. Fun = win. I know most of you won't understand this but yeah, that's just me.

I know that a lot of people want to escape all the time, want 4k in every match. Hey that’s totally fine, we all play for different reasons, play how YOU want, but if you play too serious you will be disappointed more often. If you get mad, okay, no problem, but stop insulting and blaming other people.

Oh wait, there are two things that make me angry: bullying killers that are struggling hard, cause they are obviously new to the game or maybe they try a new killer and sandbagging team mates for no reason. Even though these situations don’t really effect myself, I will throw my whole game to help them.

Ummmm, hrm. I'd say this is the worst advice I've heard anyone give in the last year, and that is saying something. Those are not good methods to avoid being titled, and in fact they are horrible habits if you want to get good at this game. Avoiding losing your cool and not getting tilted is an internal thing, not external. Your advice is focused on trying to manipulate the match, i.e. cherry pick which rarely works and all you are doing is setting yourself up for failure when things go south. Otz has a video which is actually very helpful for avoiding getting tilted. I suggest googling it and watching.

My own advice is the opposite of yours. Never cherry pick. Do not dodge lobbies. Don't focus on what is fair and what isn't fair. That is irrelevant. Set long term goals for yourself rather than fixate on individual matches. Win or lose you will be earning Blood Points and getting practice. We actually learn more from our failures than our successes. All in all, the tougher your matches, the faster you will improve. The goal is to get good. Nothing worth doing comes easy. If you set realistic expectations for yourself, you won't get tilted.

I used to play to win and got tilted a lot. Over the last couple of days though I have just been playing to level up my killers. Feeling a bit less stressed as I'm watching the bp raise instead of the hook counter.
