PSA: The event has NOT started and NOTHING has been released
This apparently needs its own PSA because I keep seeing people comment on things that have not been released.
- No, the event is not just the crowns and cakes. There's always more we don't know about and this event is no different.
- Yes, the cakes will stack. They always have (barring bugs). There's literally no reason why they wouldn't all of a sudden.
- Nobody (except the devs) knows what the event is going to be like in its entirety. Don't trust leaks and assume anything anyone says about what the event "is like " is 100% speculative.
- Finally, wait until the event actually starts and we have actual information before you criticize it. I don't think it's too much to ask that you base criticisms on real information.

It's better to expect the worst and be pleasantly surprised if they do something good than to expect it to be good and be disappointed if not.
With their track record I will expect the worst and hope to be surprised. Hopefully we have a bug patch before or on the day of the event too.

It's not fair to criticize BHVR based off of leaks. Maybe not you specifically but this community as a whole was way to happy to jump down BHVR's neck for this.

I'm scared because I am going on a long trip. I fear I will miss out on the event, I know my hopes aren't high for it but I still want the new crowns and anything else it has to offer.

Thanks for posting this.
It’s been driving me so crazy lately the fantasy land that so many forum members seemingly live in.
So few are interested in facts anymore (again, seemingly).

I was going to say I have heard of no leaks except the disproven cakes don't stack one. Been playing for 3 years and don't expect high quality anymore from bhvr even though they have more money and a successful game now.

Well tbf, Behaviour are consistently breaking the game every other chapter it seems. People are rightfully angry and as such, are using any excuse to bash Behaviour. I am in a privileged position as I play on PC (I'm mostly unaffected by the performance issues plaguing consoles) but I can remember how awful the game performed back when I played PS4. I'm not saying that people are justified for bashing the Devs over leaks alone, but I am saying that the anger in the community is because of Behaviour's actions (Or perhaps inaction, considering they broke the game for many console players).

Probably because BHVR has an ever growing track record?

Of what, exactly? How come people always ignore the good things they've done over the years? Remember infinite loops? And even then, how does that justify people taking an unofficial leak of something that hasn't been released yet and immediately ######### on it without actually knowing what it's like? Not just that, but the leak runs contrary to what we know to expect and have seen over the years, yet a lot of people (apparently) lost all memory of the past events. Does that seem logical and fair to you?

You claim this situation doesn't demand logic, but I've yet to be in a situation where logic didn't, at the very least, help the situation. So let's apply some.
You're supposed to focus on the actual problem you're experiencing, instead of bashing something you know nothing about. Bashing the devs for something you know nothing about basically guarantees they won't give a ######### about anything you have to say.
What's the point of listening to you if you're going to complain about everything any time something doesn't work right? Your feedback becomes worthless to them because it's just complaining for the sake of complaining (by your own admission).
On the other hand, if you complain about the actual problem you're actually having and still provide real feedback, then the devs can work on improving the game overall, because your feedback is reliable and honest.

I watched the anniversary stream and was not impressed so. Keeping my expectations low and/or non existent.
BHVR really has hit rock bottom with these updates and events so anything other than a complete let down or scam would be impressive.

You can apply logic to emotions, they don't have to be opposites. If my BF is feeling #########, I apply logic and figure out the best way to cheer him up. The impetus is emotional, but the action is still based on logic.
You're making a typical mistake, which is to conflate "listen to feedback" with "be subservient to feedback". They are not the same thing. The devs, like almost everyone else you interact with on the Internet, are humans, with human opinions and emotions. They also have access to a much wider range of data than any of us.
So if you say, for instance, that NOED drives up kill rates and should be nerfed, but the devs look at the data and there's no statistically significant difference between kill rates with and without NOED, they're not going to nerf NOED. Even if the data does back up the claim, that doesn't mean they're going to address the problem in the way you or I think is best. And that's without mentioning the purely subjective matter of what's "fun" to play with/against.
If your "fun" is in endlessly complaining about things that you don't know about, I don't know what to say.

The event looks like it's going to be fine, I don't see why people keep freaking out and complaining. Sure, the code for the cakes was worrying, but this is a buggy AF game.
If anything, it's the complete lack of other events that's a real issue. One of the easiest and most reliable ways of facilitating developer-consumer relations is by throwing virtual currency and basic menu-theme celebrations around. Bloodhunts and pretty colours would go a long way to calming the community down.

Only thing that bothers me is performance issues and FPS drops and the chances that it wont be fixed with patch shortly before event starts.
As far as event goes, I don't care about anything but cakes and BP farm so whatever halos and cosmetics for characters I don't play, won't affect me in any way.

Infinites were in the game for four years. That isn't a plus on their side that they were addressed for a short time, and then reintroduced thanks to breakable walls.
Yes, while we shouldn't fall in line behind leaks, it wouldn't be out of this world to give some validity to them. The cake not staking, for instance. Remember last year when it didn't for a week? Why would be it hard to imagine that it wouldn't run into the same issue this year?

They always have in game messages when events are on too lol

Well, they've promised extra effort on Halloween and Anniversary events, but from what we've seen so far this promise was easily broken. The event seems to be a copy from last year, which is extremely disappointing.
Of course there might be one or two extra details that we don't know yet, but what I've seen so far doesn't look like a pretty good job.

The leak said no stacking.
They came out saying they do stack.
IDK what else people need to not blindly trust leaks.
3 -
"But the devs lie all the time!"
That's the excuse.

The community does this frequently. Get in hysteria over something with no official source.
2 -
Yes, nothing has been released. Like the console optimization patch.

The leaker isn't wrong. Currently in the game files, they do not stack. A patch will likely come out soon that will fix that.
The leaker even said they posted that with the hope it was a mistake and would be changed.

The first bit is the ultimate pessimistic mind set (which has worked for me in real life). Also this will be my first event so I have no expectations lol.

Behaviour already released a bunch of official information towards the event on their broadcast event. https://deadbydaylight.com/en/news/5th-anniversary-broadcast-round-up
Assuming that we will see much more than what is know right now, is basicly speculation itself. And the information that was given is quite clear how similar both events will be. As long nothing additional has been announced, it makes sense to go by the current information given and discuss and criticize Behaviours plans based on that.
And like said. The Cake leak, was more of a datamine, and is kinda a fact as well, that the way the cakes work currently in the game files, that they don't stack. Criticism might have been overblown. I agree. Especially because the actually information wasn't shared properly. But still it's a fact. Even if it doesn't come directly from Behaviour themselfs. Doesn't have to be.
