Thanks to Resident Evil, Lightborn is worth its weight in gold!
Lightborn was one of those perks that hardly anybody ran because devoting an entire perk to a flashlight stun - which may or may not happen - seemed pointless. But thanks to Resident Evil there are now flashbangs and blast mines, both of which have become popular survivor perks to use. Thanks to Lightborn not only are you immune to the blindness from these perks, but seeing the aura of the person that set a blast mine or tossed a flashbang at you is ridiculously effective!

I never thought about this.
It's kinda weird that I've pretty much run a flashlight every single game this weekend and flashbangs, yet I've not seen 1 Lightborn lol

Im sure it doesnt reduce the stun though right? I thought yiud still be stunned.

And yet there is no perk to completely counter BBQ. Isn't that ironic? And these perks are nowhere on the level of power as BBQ.

I've had Lightborn permanently installed on my killers since not long after dedicated servers went live. It has been my favorite perk since latency and whatever bugs made the counters for avoiding blinds less effective.
I freakin' love Lightborn and I hate playing any killer whose RNG has so far screwed me out of unlocking it.

Go play some more noed nurse sluzzy

I used light born all the time before this. nothing new to me :)

I was playing a match as killer and I went to kick the generator. I didn't get blinded, and the person that set the blast mine was hiding around the corner. Thanks to Lightborn I knew exactly where they were and made a beeline for them. They probably thought I was hacking! LOL

Distortion counters it as well as Sole Survivor when it's at max. Off the Record counters it. Heck even getting into a locker or ducking behind a gen can counter it.

^This. Distortion is definitely an underutilized perk. It can hide your aura from the killer three times in a match.

That's pretty funny lol

I ran Lightborn for a bit, because I was convinced the game was going to turn into flashbang hell, but didn't really get any value out of it - the most I got was for a match where survivors brought several flashlights and wanted to do the typical flashlight things. Flashbangs are way easier to avoid than I thought they would be and I've been able to sidestep them nineteen times out of twenty, and with Blast Mine, I'd be getting stunned anyway.
That said, I've always had a soft spot for Lightborn, because if you can confuse a survivor into thinking you don't have it, you can get an endless stream of free hits off them, and it is very effective against teams that are addicted to flashlight plays. (And they get so angry when they see you have it - can't even count the number of times I've been called cringe and trash in endgame chat. You'd think they'd be happy I brought a perk I didn't explicitly need instead of something useful, right?)

True you still encounter the stun, but the aura detection lasts longer than the stun itself. I explained earlier that I had a match where a mine had been set on a generator that I kicked, and while I did incur the stun, I was able to see the aura of where that person was hiding. They could have been halfway across the map and I still would have seen exactly where they were. It's pretty effective now that it applies to more than just flashlights!

I'd say so actually

That would only be fair if BBQ had 3 tokens.

Still one of those very situational perks

BBQ & Chili shouldn't be nerfed, But, Distortion buffed.
2 -
But it's definitely worth running more than it ever was before! Lately all I've been seeing are flash bangs and blast mines.

Trouble with BBQ...hop in a locker, hide behind a gen, Go one way then double back....its not hard.

You can’t seriously be complaint about a killer perks. The game is so slanted towards survivors that killers need every advantage they can get
2 -
It doesn’t matter. If you’re at a gen while somebody gets hooked and lose a token, congratulations! You now know for certain that the killer is running BBQ. You now have the option to use up your remaining charges every time someone gets hooked or run to the nearest locker/get near enough to the killer. I honestly don’t what you expect, but one perk should never be able to totally negate the effects of another.
2 -
Too bad, because bbq is probably the fairest perk in the game

I have been successfully flashbanged twice since Resident Evil came out. They are really easy to avoid blast mine is just more of a nuisance doesn't really do anything on our way I can see that being a problem is if I was on my last few seconds of pop and just made it to a Jen but I haven't had that scenario yet. Could have sworn this side lightborn was not supposed to counter it as flash bangs and blast minds are lightburn but maybe I'm mixing something up or maybe that's something with the wraith I don't remember.

Hide behind generator, hide in locker. You wellcome!

Yeah anything that causes blindness your immune to. And since a lot of survivors are now bringing into their games mines and flash bangs, being protected against that while also knowing their location is quite a nice advantage to have!

What do you propose of a perk that will completely trump BBQ & Chili?
0 -
I just don’t see where you ever fit that perk into a serious build. Pretty much every killer needs an early game perk, 1-2 gen perks, and at least one chase perk. The only killers who can really break from that trend are powerful enough flashlights don’t bother them anyways.

Personally I don't like to play with serious builds. Running the same old perks gets tiring after awhile, and I like to have fun so I'll mix it up from time to time. To each their own, but imo no one should be taking this game seriously.

Well that’s nice but at rank 1 I’m regularly pitted against meta SWFs and solo Q teams who will regularly finish 2-3 gens before corrupt intervention is over. I’d rather have good perks to deal with that.
It’s pretty easy to deal with flashlights by picking up facing a wall and being blinded at pallets or when you go to kick a gen is just a minor inconvenience to the killer.
1 -
These perks are way more powerful than BBQ. BBQ gives information from you hooking someone, which is a reward for hard work. The flash grenades and blast mines are given to you by doing the very simple task of holding a button on a gen. Think of them as infinite fire crackers and uncounterable stuns at a gen. That's OP, not BBQ.
1 -
Its still a useless perk most of the match.
0 -
Yep, lots of killer perks getting unintentional buffs. Pretty soon all killers will get instant 4K games no matter the hours or ranks. I dunno bout you, but I’m super excited.

Distortion.
You still get in lockers if course to preserve tokens. But if you’re ever in a bind where reaching a locker in time isn’t possible, Distortion comes to the rescue.

People ######### on Distortion for not being very good and rather situational(and they're right), but just the knowledge of knowing if the killer has BBQ, I'm All Ears, All Seeing etc. is really useful to know. I rolled Distortion almost immediately on both Jeon and Jill and I've been enjoying it.
