Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Is coldwind ever going to be balanced?

Even before the rework it was infamous for being one the best realms for survivors. Not nearly as bad as haddonfield or gideon meat plant, but still one of the top 3.

For one the loops are still very strong, especially the hay loops that replaced the tree/rock loops. Which weren't terrible, but at least you could see the survivor for the most part. With the exception of maybe 2 - 3 unsafe pallets, Coldwind got newer and stronger loops.

Not only that, but BHVR again decided to ruin loops they already balanced with breakable walls. Which I remind y'all wastes the killers already precious time, either in chase or while patrolling. The ones in Thompson house make me wonder why they even added them in the first place.

The art team did a 10/10 job as they usually do. But I wish we had an easier time seeing scratch marks and auras. It's annoying having to squint to be able to see critical info just because if how bright the map is.

The realm beyond exists to make people go”ooh pretty”. You already bought the game, you don’t really matter anymore.

I kinda already got that feeling when they took a sledgehammer to Billy's nuts last year.

Yeah, of all the map reworks to this day, Coldwind was the most disappointing for me. Farm maps were known as extremely survivor sided since the day the game first launched. And even though they received changes througout the years (specially the 2020 change that fixed their worst loops) and became less unbalanced than they were before, they were still among the worst maps to play as killer.

Since killers complained about this maps for so long, I thought behavior was going to fix them with the rework. But instead, they didn't change a lot, and some of the stuff they changed just made them worse. To talk about the three worse ones:

Fractured Cowshed is still one of the most safe maps for survivors, and one of the worst in the whole game to play as killer. It's just slightly better than Haddonfield, and only because Lampkin Lane has those safe windows in the houses. To make it worse, now it has breakable walls on the previously fixed loops.

Rotten Fields has the same issues it had before.

Thompson's House got probably the biggest change out of these. While I'm not sure about the rest of the map (I really need to play more on it. Didn't have many chances yet), I can say the house itself got clearly stronger for the survivor's side. On the other hand, the loops around it feel easier to play around. But survivors who know how strong the house is will use to waste more of the killer's time.

All the realm beyond I’d is make balanced maps worse

I actually just want Coldwind maps removed out of the game, 80% of my matches are from that awfully designed map and now it's so bright I can barely see #########

I really like the look of the map, just such a damn shame it sucks to play on for killers

Especially since coldwind isn't conducive to many killer powers.

Yeah, I like the looks of it too. Thompson's House new visual is amazing. It's really a shame it's hard to enjoy a game there as killer.

Nope. Devs don't care. Probably don't even understand what makes a map unbalanced.

Apparently not, probably part of the reason they kept the house of pain on Badham.
