End game doesn't start when hatch auto closes

First time this happened and killer hasn't closed hatch, but does End Game not start if the hatch automatically closes and the killer doesn't close it? Just had a game where we did 4 gens and 1 person had died, killer was tunneling me so my friend told me to take hatch by myself, after I took hatch it closed after 10 seconds but end game didn't start and my friend and the random has to do the last gen

    ya end game doesnt start unless the killer forcefully closes it. if it closes by itself then the rest of the survivors are left to finish the rest of the gens

    No. This is because if the hatch closing by any means triggered EGC, then in a match with 3 survivors left and 1 gen left somebody could just escape instantly with a key, and then the other two would also be handed at least one easy escape because EGC with 2 survivors is incredibly easy for survivors.

    Keys don't need to be even stronger than they are now.

    They reduced the amount of time hatch stays open after a key to allow the killer to decide if they want to start EGC or not. Big brain move by the killer.
